Zero-Star Experience: World2Cover Travel Insurance

I took out World2Cover travel insurance for my Balkan trip. Unfortunately, my medical claim was declined despite submitting verified medical receipts and supporting doctor’s letters. My claims for flight & hotel cancellation and rescheduling were also rejected. This was not the level of support I expected from a travel insurer. Very disappointing experience!

DON'T USE THE COMPANY

DON'T USE THE COMPANY. They have the worst service when you need to claim, never speak with the same person twice, keep asking for the same evidence even when you have already provided and don't pay claims FAIRLY. We got stuck in a storm and missed our business class flights we used points to book 12 months earlier, upon calling and checking their staff said we could book like for like business class seats. We paid cash for the tickets. Upon returning we got our points back and made a claim less the value of the points. World2Cover valued frequent flyer miles higher than I can book a ticket for cash 12 months out. It's taken 2 years and we are $20k out of pocket so I'm heading to the industry watchdog. STAY AWAY FROM WORLD2COVER

If I could rate it zero I would

If I could rate it zero I would. I lodged a claim on the day of my accident 31 May 2024- the claim was paid early May 2025! That should give you an idea of how badly it was managed. I am a lawyer and the only thing that kept me going with pursuing the claim was my sense of justice and fairness and frustration at how badly it was managed. The entire claim process was time consuming and confusing.They asked me to provide information from the Airline which was impossible for me to do- as the airline wouldn't provide it and then they said my entire claim was denied because of this. I only finally got some kind of resolution when I made a complaint to the Australian Financial Complaint Authority (AFCA) and I was persistent in my explanations as to why their approach was flawed. At no point in the claim process did they explain to meet that it was actually 2 claims until I received 2 separate payments and 2 lots of excess deductions- and even then nobody explained why, I worked it out myself. I DO NOT recommend this company and will NEVER use them again.

Cancellation pro rata rip off

Read the fine printThese guys will slug you a huge prorata even if you cancel months before your trip. So even if your policy hasnt started because you havent commenced your trip, they will charge fees to cancel. Remember the 21 day cooling off period or i recommend to think twice before you consider purchasing from world to cover insurance. I will not use them again.

DO NOT USE!! SCAMMERS!!

I had my flights from Amsterdam to Australia cancelled. On top of this I was notified that my house had flooded and my roof was about to cave in and I needed to return immediately.
I lodged a claim for my flight when I returned and sent the corresponding documents. World2cover replied in about a month stating they couldn't open my attachments. I resent them. A month later they said I needed to fill out a different form and resend the attachments. I have received 13 emails from them, all a month apart stating that they need proof that I needed to return to Australia (apparently a RACV Claim and repairs, and a stat dec from the person who discovered my house flooded is not enough evidence) and to send all the documents again!! Not to mention my original flights had been cancelled by the airline so purchasing new flights should be covered by insurance.

This has taken over 12 months and has caused more stress and anxiety than my flooded house (which was repaired months ago).

I have had to go on multiple overseas trips since my claim and would have spent the same amount I am claiming for on insurance if this company wasn't a scam!!

The people I was travelling with did not have flooded houses to return to, just had their flights cancelled. They had different travel insurance which reimbursed them within a month of returning to Australia.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!
If I could give a -10 score I would!! Disgraceful customer service and insurer.

Worst Travel Insurance Company

This company basically excludes everything possible to claim so don't even bother. They also hide it in their policy but display it otherwise on the cover options main page. If you want your personal items insured for theft/loss (even in a private place) then do not go with this company. They also take very long to process any claims, around 3 weeks. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is, go with the more expensive insurance companies. Do not go with these scammers.
