Ambience Hardwood Flooring Avis 

Staff were very knowledgeable and gave what I thought was honest and impartial advice about the flooring that we needed. They were helpful with samples and arranging delivery as quickly as possible, once we'd decided what we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble and the service was excellent. The floor is now fitted and we are really pleased with it. I will definitely recommend them to friends and family.

I strongly recommend buying from Ambience, i have chosen 1 working bussiness day delivery and it was, bought on Friday and delivered on saturday which was great, instead of starting my little job on monday I was pleased and did it on Sunday and saved myself a lot of time to finish other things, the reason I am saying this because I had 4 days before my holiday and would only finish the night before my flight, thank you for a swift delivery ( free ) , highly recommended.

Solid oak threshold ramp. Excellent product showing really good wood grain without knots. Easy process to order on line. Arrived on time, well protected and packaged. Fitted perfectly to allow transition between floor finish and concrete step below door into garage.

The flooring itself is really nice and looked pretty much how I expected once it was down. The boards were well packed and the finish was consistent across the packs. Delivery was a bit slower than I’d hoped, but nothing major. Overall I’m happy with what I got.

Delivery was on time. I ordered a piece of oak floor strip. 60mm wide with a 15mm rebate either side. It was packaged well when it was delivered but I did unfortunately have a couple of issues that needed fixing before I was able to fit it as a cover strip between my laminate flooring and carpet. Firstly, one end of the piece was scooped in the last 2-3 inches. I was a bench hand joiner / machinist years back so I know that this is typically caused when the oak was machined and the piece was allowed to drop slightly as it came out of the router. Luckily I had bought a 2.7m length and only needed 2.4m so this part could be removed. Secondly, both ends of the piece had splits along the grain on either side which ran for about 8 inches. I had to buy some brown PU glue to run down the splits and clamp them for 24 hours before I could sand the piece up ready for fitment. The edges of the profile are quite thin once rebated so I understand that this can happen quite easily with oak when it is machined. Regardless of this it shouldn't be sent to a customer needing these repairs. I would probably increase this thickness slightly if I were machining it myself. The 15mm thick tongue was actually the perfect size for me to be able to secure it down to the subfloor. With a touch of planing it was a perfect fit for what I needed and it has finished the gap off between my flooring perfectly and looks a lot better than what a metal flooring threshold would. Apart from the issues I mentioned, and having to spend another £15 to repair it I'm happy with the quality of the oak and how it looks now repaired and fitted. No unsightly knots and it's a nice piece which matches the colour I needed pretty perfect. Without this repair work I would have given 5 stars for delivery. Thanks.
