Online ordering is NOT worth any cost.

We are BAM members, and I like browsing in the store, but after two bad experiences shopping and having books shipped online, I won’t bother. I have ordered books online that have been in circulation for 11 months, such as the last instance, but have waited months to get the book. In the previous situation, the book was in the store for quite some time before it was ever shipped.

SCAMMERS - Customer Service is absolutely laughable.

I would give this company 0 stars if I could. My company was hosting a men's conference and one of the keynote speakers was an author. We decided to purchase some books to give away at the conference for free. These books were sold out everywhere, but we found them on BAM. To make sure they arrived on time for our event, we paid overnight shipping. Per the checkout page, it says "Next Day Air Shipping (1-2 Business Days) $24.99 + 0.99 per item."

When I received the order confirmation, I was charged $3.99 per book. So I emailed them with a screenshot of the checkout screen and asked if they could refund me for the $3.00 overcharge per book (plus the increase in tax because of the additional spending). They provided verbiage copied and pasted from their website showing that it's generally a 0.99 per item charge, except when you ship NDA it's $3.99. So, I advised that no where on the checkout screen does it specify $3.99 for NDA. It actually specifically says there is a $0.99 fee per book next to the NDA shipping option only (as per the screenshot I provided). They tried to fight me on this, so I advised to cancel the order (around 6:30p the day I placed the order).

In addition to this, the order processing / shipping info that they sent me revealed that it is a 24-48h order processing period before shipment. Since that was super risky and meant the order would possibly be delivered the day of our event, I asked to cancel. They advised me the next day they could not cancel it because it was in process to ship. Considering my order was submitted Weds morning, I thought this meant that it would ship that day, which means I still would have had the product in time for our event. I told them we needed them by Friday, and assumed that even if they were shipping on Thursday via NDA, we would be fine.

I never received the product and they completely missed our event. I emailed on Saturday advising that since they order clearly never shipped, to cancel the order. They did not honor any timelines or costs that are stated in writing on their website in plain sight. I received an email on Sunday advising the order shipped. The label was created on Saturday, but the order was not shipped until MONDAY! So, it was finally delivered on Tuesday, 6 days after the initial order was placed.

I brought the package to UPS to attempt to return to sender, but they advised I had to go through BAM to get a shipping label. When I emailed them for this, they advised that this is a nonrefundable product. NOTHING on their website states this. I have screenshots to prove this.

Their return policy has an asterisk that says it does not apply to items purchased from the New & Used Marketplace and that those items are non-returnable. So, I went to the website to see if this book was in that category, and there is NOTHING stating that it falls within that category. So, we will be disputing the charges with screenshots. This company literally gaslights you, but doesn't have a leg to stand on because none of their policies are easy to find on the website and what the customer does see is in writing though they claim that the customer is wrong.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE.

This company is utter TRASH

This company is utter TRASH. I ordered seven books from them on feb 19. The date I was supposed to receive them first said the 26th of February. Then it changed to March 2 which it still states is coming. It’s now March 12. Two of the books arrived. Five are still missing. I emailed them and got an auto reply. It said to wait 24-48 hours. I waited over that period of time and sent another complaint. Nothing. I want my money back so I can buy my books at an actual reputable place. Where I don’t have to wait nearly a month to even hear anything about my order, let alone RECEIVE IT. Don’t give this garbage company your money. You’re better off buying from Amazon or Barnes and Noble. Also they don’t have a phone number to call for customer service. Garbage garbage garbage company. What a scam.

Ordered 1 Item on March 3rd. It is March 9th and it hasn't shipped yet. And customer service has no idea when it will ship. Miserable service for the amount of technology we have today. Either you have the item to send or you do not and therefore shouldn't be offering it.

Garbage store.

Two star because I have ordered things from here and gotten them for a decent price. But my last two preorders, placed months ago, were canceled for being 'unavailable'.

Give the customer an option to pay the extra fees, or tell them WELL in advance you're not stocking it. Don't just drop the product on launch day with no way to order it anywhere else. Now if I want it, I have to pay a scalper. F off! 🤬

They cancelled an order with 3 special edition books(Trilogy), with no notice. They should have shipped 2 months ago, so I checked the order and it was just cancelled. I know a friend who ordered from this website and she never recieved her large shipment either, even though it said it was delivered. Wont be ordering from them again

Absolute garbage company

Absolute garbage company. Ordered originally on 1-12-2026. Received a "not in stock" notice the same day. Books-A-Million does not allow same day cancellation when other items you were allowed to order, are not in stock. Charged full price for missing items. NO resolution onsite or on the phone. Their own support staff recommend you dispute any charge to your card, as that is the only resolution that works with this poorly run online operation. Items are shipped in what can only be described as "amateur hour packaging", as it appears to have been prepared for shipping by a complete beginner, unfamiliar with the level of automation at the USPS. Item took 8 days to arrive on and was damaged as well. Given that the item is a collectible, it's worth was less than zero in the condition it was in. I will never do business with this company again. If I had bothered to do a simple Google Search, I would have discovered beforehand that their online customer service and order fulfillment is a abysmal and very likely illegal. Apparently their brick and mortar stores offer a better experience but it's corporations like this, that leave smaller sellers in a poor position due to the lack of service, deceptive practices and the ability to provide all this at a pace that can only be described a glacial and braindead, devoid of any real love for their repeat customers online.

I have ordered multiple books from…

I have ordered multiple books from B.A.M. in recent months. They often ship in cheap envelopes. Twice now the envelopes have arrives open on the sides like they were torn open. Not sure if someone opened them or they got ripped in processing. Should use boxes

Unreliable liars.

This company is extremely unreliable on online orders. Even on a pre-order. If you question your order more than once they will can wl your oder themselves and say its out of stock. Umm this was a PRE-order so as you know a pre-order is when you place an order for a product before it is officially released or available for sale. This allows you to reserve the item and often guarantees you will receive it as soon as it becomes available. So tell me how its out of stock when my order was put in BEFORE it was even IN stock.

BAM tries

BAM tries, but underperforms.
Today’s visit: after checking out with over $200 in books, was informed BAM had gone “green” and no longer provides bags gratis. Naturally, there were bags for sale. This represents part of BAM’s slow degradation of customer service. Go woke, go broke.
Upon arriving home and reviewing the receipt, discovered BAM’s check out system charged $175 for an item marked at $167. Frustrating.

Got Overcharged and BRUTALLY invalidated

I made an order and got charged an extra 6 dollars for shipping. I contacted live chat support multiple times and explained to them about the overcharge. They all spoke down to me as if I didn't understand how the fees work. I even took a screenshot and circled the areas in red that showed I was being charged more than the original price and the person named Shannon told me I was wrong and that no matter who I speak to I would be told that I was wrong after I asked to speak to someone else.

She never took the time to do the simple math which would have told her there was an error. I have never been so invalidated in my life over a purchase. It was brutal. It took me to call in and explain to another service rep who smugly, by the tone of her voice, also told me what I was saying was false.
After several more minutes they were able to see that a duplicate of my order had been made in their system with different totals one with the overcharge and one was the correct one.

The entire time I was completely calm but I was and still am absolutely fuming on the inside because it hits so close to my personal life of constantly being told that my experiences aren't true and don't matter, but I digress. I got my refund after that trial and tribulation! I'm afraid to ever place another order here again.

"In stock" means never ship and no refunds

Ordered "in stock" books over two weeks ago. they immediately charged me and nothing since. No updates. I went to cancel it on their website but clicking the refund button or help button just returns a webpage error. Classy. Looks like a credit card charge back is in order. What a joke of a company. Zero chance i ever try and buy from them again.

Don't Give BAM Your Money

Terrible company; terrible/zero customer service. Delayed shipping. No accountability if your package is lost, misdelivered, never delivered. The company will blame the postal carrier.

Inferior Shipping Material

The book I ordered was a signed copy and was something for my collection but the shipping material did not protect the book and now the corners of the book are damaged. Do not buy collection books from Books A Million!

Ordered books with my gift card and…

Ordered books with my gift card and small balance on my credit card. Called immediately when the gift card did not apply to final payment and they could not correct it, could not cancel the order, it was too soon, (45minutes ago) using a third party (can't get into the system)- nothing. I was told to login the next day (weekend) to chat with their reps to cancel. I just called the credit card company and stopped the payment- 5 whole minutes not going to waste time chatting or calling BAM customer unservice. I even regret the time spending typing this, but if it helps someone else, so be it.
