Same-day collection
Reasonably prompt and pleasing service from this aggregator site that uses an offshore admin team. Driver was a few hours late and only called 5 minutes before he arrived but he was amicable when we met. It was in Sydney so I understand the traffic congestion. One point is that the “quote” you accept on the website is presented as final but in reality my driver only agreed to pay me $1,000 instead of the $1,120 offered. He claimed this was because he couldn’t get the engine to start, but I’d advised such upfront when first engaging with the site. Either a bit of a disconnect here or he gave himself a tip! Overall, I was satisfied but don’t treat the SMS quote as final.
EDIT
To be clear, I was told you’d contact me to confirm the quote over the phone based on if there were any missing components etc but this didn’t happen. That was the time to discuss issues with the car and quote amendments, not once the driver arrived. Had he offered a substantially lower amount I would’ve refused point blank you’d be getting 1-star.

Regarding the price adjustment: our online quotes rely on the accuracy of the information provided during the request. In this case, some requested and relevant details about the vehicle weren’t supplied, which meant the driver had to reassess the offer on arrival (e.g., non‑starting engine). We’ll continue refining our forms and reminders so customers know exactly which details affect the final price.
We also want to assure you—and anyone reading—that our customer support/admin team is 100% based onshore in Queensland, Australia. We’re proud of that, and keeping our team local helps us respond quickly and transparently.

The first quote a customer receives online is a baseline automated value, which assumes poor or unknown condition.
Once full vehicle details are provided, our local representatives review each vehicle and usually increase the offer based on the parts and value available.

Excellent service and courteous driver
Our experience with CarTakeBack was very positive. From the time we made enquiries until the car was picked up we were very happy.
The fellow who came to collect the car was courteous and polite. He rang to let us know that he would only be a short while. He was very punctual. He removed the car, which was in an unsuitable position, and did not do any damage getting it out.
We would recommend Car Take Back Australia if anyone needed a car removed.

I was given a quote for my car
I was given a quote for my car, and they were happy to pick it up the next day at an arranged time.
The next day literally 5 mins before the pick up time, i get a message that I have cancelled the pick up. So annoying. I call them and they are like our computer valued your car too high. No apology no nothing.
I had other things to do, but stayed home for pickup.

I’ve checked with our local representatives and understand they contacted you prior to collection to explain that the offer would need to be revised, as the vehicle’s engine was found to be blown or broken.
When you submitted your initial enquiry, the details provided indicated that the vehicle had no issues starting, could be driven, and that the only concern was a warning light on the dash. Our instant pricing system is based entirely on the answers given during the enquiry process. Because the engine is the most valuable component of a vehicle when recycling, a significant change to its condition inevitably affects the price we can offer.
While you are never under any contractual obligation to accept a revised offer, we do understand the inconvenience this caused—especially given the short notice—and apologise that this was not handled in a way that met your expectations.

Absolutely horrible people to deal with and I would highly recommend going elsewhere even if they pay the best you couldnt pay me enough money in the world to deal with again they way they deliberately wasted my there is no point using the quote system even if they see photos that quite price is just to lure you in they would never palsy that price

Our instant quote system is designed to provide an indicative value based on general details such as the make, model, age, and size of a vehicle. However, this initial quote assumes the car meets certain minimum criteria, including the presence of key components such as the engine, transmission, interior, and panels.
While your initial submission did note ‘major parts missing,’ our quoting tool is unable to assess the extent of damage or removal without specific details and can differ greatly by individual customer perception. In addition, as per our terms and conditions, quotes are subject to review based on the actual condition of the vehicle at the time of collection, and vehicles must be accessible and safely loadable – typically meaning parked on solid ground with inflated tyres.
In your specific case, the vast majority of these major components were missing, including the wheels, engine, transmission, interior, body panels, windows and lights. Unfortunately, this rendered the vehicle unsuitable for recycling or resale under our usual process, and as such, the quote provided could not be honored. Additionally, the absence of wheels and tyres made standard collection unfeasible, likely requiring third-party assistance at a cost exceeding the vehicle's remaining value.
We understand this was frustrating, and we do regret the inconvenience. We’ve passed your feedback on to our team as part of our ongoing efforts to improve transparency and customer communication.

This is a great idea. Get a quote, the more pictures the better. Accept quote, subject to a check on pick up. Arrange pick up time. Instant payment and the car is gone. How easy is that. It’s a good service and well run.
