Our experience with Chancellors has been extremely disappointing from start to finish.
We vacated our property on 22 May 2026. Instead of processing the return of our deposit promptly, Chancellors initially attempted to make deductions by claiming we had caused damage to the property. However, those same damages were clearly recorded in the original move-in inventory. It appeared that they had not even checked their own move-in report before trying to hold us responsible.
Once we challenged their claims with evidence, they accepted that the deposit should be returned. Unfortunately, the delays did not end there. They repeatedly asked us for our bank details instead of simply processing the refund, causing further unnecessary delays.
Now, after weeks of waiting, we have been told that our deposit cannot be returned because Chancellors is changing its internal computer system. We have been informed that we must wait until at least 15 July before they can release money that they have already acknowledged belongs to us.
A company's internal administrative or IT problems should never become the customer's problem. We have fulfilled all our obligations as tenants, yet we have been left waiting for our own money for reasons entirely outside our control.
Overall, this has been an unprofessional and frustrating experience. I would not recommend Chancellors based on how they have handled our tenancy deposit.

This review is about Chancellor Stanmore.
This is my 4th review and issue isn’t resolved.
It is now 16 June, and I vacated my property on 15 October. Nearly eight months later, I am still waiting for the return of my deposit.
Despite countless emails and multiple senior team members being copied into the correspondence, I have seen very little effort from Chancellors to help resolve this matter. Instead, I have spent months chasing updates and trying to reach a fair resolution.
What is most disappointing is that the agency appears to act only as a messenger between the landlord and tenant, rather than actively helping to resolve disputes. Even after providing evidence and responding promptly to every request, the process has dragged on for months.
In 14 years of renting in London and dealing with several letting agencies, I have never experienced such a prolonged and stressful deposit dispute.
The lack of urgency, communication, and support has caused significant frustration and stress. I hope Chancellors reviews how these cases are handled, as no tenant should have to wait this long for a resolution.

Although I didn’t end up finding a property through him in the end, his level of service and professionalism stood out. He was responsive, and really listened to what I was looking for — qualities that unfortunately seem rare in the industry.

I have found Callum very helpful and professional from the outset. Over the past few months, I have been in touch with Callum on numerous occasions by phone and email and he has dealt with all my queries promptly and efficiently. I've found Callum proactive and he goes out of his way to help, working with tact and diplomacy, to provide positive outcomes. Callum has shown strong collaborative working skills and he is an asset to Chancellors. I'm very grateful for his help and his superb efforts to assist me with the lettings process for my property.

We were in a bit of a bind when our previous potential landlord flaked on us last minute. With Callum’s help we went from doing a viewing at noon on Wednesday to holding the property keys on Friday afternoon.
