Chancellors - Wokingham Avis 

We were exemplary tenants: two doctors, rent always paid, and the property professionally cleaned and left in better condition than we found it.

After the tenancy ended, the landlord essentially ghosted us, ignored repeated emails, gave no explanation and simply withheld our deposit. I had no idea you can simply do this in 2026. We had to go through the Tenancy Deposit Scheme to recover it through their dispute service, and recover it we did - in full - but it took 3 months!

Chancellors Wokingham’s response was that, because the landlord held the deposit directly, it was not their responsibility. They were happy to arrange the tenancy and take their fee, but offered no meaningful support when the landlord behaved appallingly.

Potential tenants should be aware: if something goes wrong, you may be left entirely on your own.

We got our money back only because we fought for it. I would never use this branch again.

We recently had an offer accepted on a property in Herefordshire that was being sold by Chancellors. Our experience throughout with their team has been excellent.

Locally, for the viewings, Like Kelly has done an excellent job in showing us around the property and assisting us with the various queries we’ve had.

Once a price was agreed for the property, we were handed over to Leeann Giles on the Sales Progression team. Leeann has worked tirelessly for us to progress the purchase with great tenacity and attention to detail.

We’ve found dealing with Chancellors to be a straightforward process with their staff being extremely friendly and professional. Many thanks to all involved.

We were scheduled to move into a property managed by Chancellors Wokingham (Tamar Way) on 16 June 2025. As of today, 19 June, we are still unable to move in due to serious cleaning oversights. Despite repeated emails and photo evidence, we have received no adequate response or resolution.

The issues include: A mouldy fridge, a grease-coated kitchen extractor, and an unclean dishwasher and washing machine; Toilet and basin with visible grime, and mouldy blinds with human hair left hanging; dirt and residue are throughout corners, window frames, and bathroom units; A garage infested with spider webs and bird droppings—not minor cobwebs, but a level of neglect that indicates it hasn't been cleaned in a long time.

The only response so far dismissed the issue, stating that “you will find spider webs,” implying that the state of the garage was normal. This response is entirely out of line given the clear health and hygiene concerns, especially with children in the household.
We are extremely disappointed with both the condition of the property and the lack of communication from Chancellors.

This experience has delayed our move and caused significant inconvenience and stress.

Think twice before renting a property managed by Chancellors.

Dana epitomises ‘service’ and ‘ the extra mile’ is her norm. Not only is she competent and qualified in her field, she leaves us with total confidence she actually ‘manages’ our property without prompts from us.
