Don't opened a business account at Citibank…

I opened a business account at Citibank in 2025 and had to go to the branch as if it is 1957. Once there, the process was laborious and I was given an online 40-page document in which it explained everything in legalese. I was not told that there was ZERO integration between the business and personal account pages and then had to struggle on MY OWN to close the account--and pay a wire transfer fee. SO VERY UNPROFESSIONAL as well as ANTIQUATED.

Citi Bank is horrible

Citi Bank is horrible. I signed up for a Home Depot Pro Xtra card without realizing that Citi Bank manages Home Depot's credit accounts. It's been a nightmare. First hey Sent my card to the wrong address, and when I finally got the card, they sent my statements to the wrong address. I still have not received an itemized statement after several months. Then They call to tell you your account is past due, and there are late charges and interest.
I never would knowingly do business with a bank that has been involved in money laundering, but Home Depot doesn't tell you that they do business with a bank involved in organized crime. The Fed's would have shut down a smaller bank, but Citi bank is a big political donner.
I feel lied to and my time and money has been stolen.

Elderly Parents Victimized Through Zelle – Incomplete Refund from Citibank

My elderly parents lost $65,000 from their Citibank account through unauthorized Zelle transfers between 2021 and 2024. They live abroad, rarely access their account, and had no idea these fraudulent transactions occurred until late 2024.

We submitted a formal claim, and Citibank refunded only $26,000. The bank refuses to return the remaining $39,000, saying too much time has passed. But that does not excuse the lack of fraud prevention or the failure to protect vulnerable elderly customers.

These were not user errors. They were unauthorized and suspicious transactions that should have been flagged immediately. Citibank must do more to protect its clients—especially seniors—from Zelle fraud, which has become a widespread and known issue.

We have filed with the CFPB and are continuing to fight for justice. A major bank like Citibank should take accountability.

The fraud squad froze my account 6 times illegally

The fraud squad froze my account due to a cancelled payment to a business account . I have called customer service 6 times from NZ at the cost of &120.00 dollars by phone . Each time they asked me a barrage of questions and then assured me the account was unfrozen and good to go . Each time I first used the card after that it would not go through . The customer service continued to lie to me over the account and now I need to be able to use that account to live ..
totally furious with bad customer service and withholding my funds illegally.

Citibank refund ridiculousness.

Citibank Received a Payment from me on behalf of Currenxie with whom I hold a Virtual Multicurrency account. It was received on the 29th May. I was informed that my account with them had been closed and that the funds would be immediately returned. I stilll have not received the funds back. Citibank told Currenxie they're busy with an internal review for the refund. At this point this is causing substantial damage to my busines because it is a large sum of money. Citibank please just return my money and stop the thievery. If my account was closed it should have been sent bak the same day, its a local transfer not international I have tracked the transfer and it is with your bank and accepted. I tracked it by UETR code and can prove it is there.

Worst. Bank. Ever.

86% gave it a 1 star. That's 9 out of 10 people hate citibank!
They keep changing their rules. Now to hold onto a checking account, it's $15/mon. The only way out is 250 deposit/mon (or $30k balance).

But can't be any old transfer. Oh no - it has to more or less be ZELLE. Well zelle don't do re-occuring payments so to keep this account I'm going have to manually transfer in then out again 250.

I'm not going to put 30k in there for next to no interest. So F you CITIBANK. Why do you hate your customers so much? (Oh Sorry - just the 'poor' customers).

Refuse to waive late fees for anything

Refused to waive my late fee, because I was ONE DAY LATE ON MY PAYMENT. I have never had a late payment. Never doing business with these crooks again.

Your minimum payment due was not received by the due date and does not qualify for a late fee waiver. If you feel your late fee was the result of a bank error, please contact Customer Service. This is the worst Credit Card company…

This is the worst Credit Card company in the known universe. Walk (no RUN) away. My family and I took a "trip of a lifetime" to support my son's performance in an international event. They docked my credit lines which I was leaving open for emergencies, while my other credit lines were leveraged for the trip. I called and asked them and they said they do this annually. My emergency plan was to leverage a HELOC if anything extremely crazy emerged but now my overall credit utilization has tanked. I paid them down and while waiting for my scores to go up, they did it again. This past week they did it again. I'm going to pay these off, close the accounts, and never look back. They're moving the goal posts so often that it's just not worth it. Shameful. 100% perfect payment history too.

Run far far away from Citi Bank

Every time I log onto my account, every thing I do triggers a fraud alert with this bank. I’ve had to prove my identity a dozens of times and most of the time through snail mail. The “fraud department” are people who can barely speak or understand English and have absolutely zero customer service, besides their scripted words I hear on repeat.
Let’s just say, you are better off choosing your neighbor as your bank than this scam of a company.

I called customer service yesterday…

I called customer service yesterday about a promo for a new card. I was transferred three times and then hung up on.
Why have a great bank with fourth rate customer service? The people I spoke to had very limited English speaking skills. I constantly had to repeat myself.
If this is the best you can do, I'll stop using my card.

Outstanding Dispute

Citi failed to credit my account within 5 days of the merchant issuing a $5,000 refund on my card.

After opening a dispute they issued a conditional refund until the merchant refund is posted.

Short of it is one month later the merchant and conditional refunds are still on my account completely screwing up the balance. I can't pay my bills!!!!

I have made 7 calls and escalated it 3 times. The last call I was promised it would be corrected in two days. That was 5 days ago.

Pathetic service. Shame on them. Typical greedy corporation focusing on profit centers and not customer facing cost centers.

As I wait for someone to do their job I have changed all my auto pay expenses to another card and will not use this card.

Worst credit card ever

Worst credit card ever! I have two citibank credit cards and they cut my limit from $1000 down to $310 on one of my cards. I've never, ever been late on any of my cards. I called and tried to ask them why and the customer service representative didn't even speak good English
I cut up both my Citi cards and locked both accounts.(I'm just going to pay them off and never use again) They have an F rating with the BBB and nothing but BAD reviews on google. Don't ever apply for this card! It's trash!

They closed out my credit card account…

They closed out my credit card account for 16 years with no notice or warning. It had been inactive for a while, so I understand they may have wanted to ensure it is still valid, but they have yet to contact me. I am trying to buy a house, and the sudden closure dropped my credit report by 10 points. And now they want to pull my credit to re-open, which will drop it even more.

I was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. They did surgery a week ago Tuesday and found massive spread. They closed me back up and gave me 4 to 5 months to live. I've never missed a payment in my life. I called all creditors and made arrangements to get my affairs situated and all balances paid. Hopefully with some consideration for hardship. Every company ACCEPT Citibank offered some help. Citibank, without notice closed my account. What an immoral, dirty, sinful company Citibank is. They literally closed my account because I'm dying of cancer!!!!

Horrendously Difficult Banking!

Im not even sure where to begin with Citibank...
-App is extremely poor very limited in what you can do
-Every time I go to login on the website it takes 3-4 attempts with a 10minute security block out between every time, so I basically cant use this option as it is frustrating as hell
-customer service extremely poor
-I have to contact the bank via phone (minimum 30min process) every time I want to make a forward payment on a loan!

Do yourselves a favour and use anyone but citibank, even if you have to pay more fees / higher rates!

home depot credit card- No humans to…

home depot credit card- No humans to talk to. Hardly use the card (typically as a back up if I dont have my biz card), because when i do making a payment takes 20 min listening to all the stupid recordings explaining and OVER explaining why they suck and wasting my time.- should be a 2 min call.

Inconvenient and seems shady. BS.

Money in my checking account never returned

I had a checking with citibank which they closed on me nearly a year ago and they still have not returned my money to me that was in the account. On four occasions they promised to send me a check which has never arrived. Worst costomer service ever! Many of the people I spoke with I could bearly understand with their poor English!
