Today we took a couple of 'sharps boxes' to the chemist for disposal.

Not us governor - contact the council.

Phoned the council. They will come to collect them.

Great.

"Where would you like to leave them? " We were asked.
What did they mean?
On the door step?
We couldn't do that. Children walk past on their way to school.
Most people do we were told.
Not us.
Okay I will tell them to knock.

Are people really leaving sharps boxes unattended?

I have given 3 stars because the agent did come up with a solution.

If anyone reading this has any say about this maybe you might be able to check the status of the disposal of sharps boxes?

Amazing experience with Colchester City Council. I reported my concern early on day 1 (via their website), a couple of hours later I received an email, I replied, they called me. They attended the issue that day and had fixed the issue by day 2 and called me to let me know. INCREDIBLE service delivery and customer service. Shout out to Scott Farrow and his team. You couldn't have been better.

I notified them of my change of address and moving out on the 25th of June and yet they still charged me council tax on the 1st of July instead of refunding me the excess that I paid.
Edit: I have now been issued with a refund of the excess I paid and apparently when I logged the form of moving houses apparently I declared that I was the house owner where I actually was a tenant so it looked like I was still liable for the tax. One phone call sorted everything out.

This the worst town in the world.If you disagree with perversion or abuse then you automatically get attacked and figured out even though you have no relation to anyone around you.It gives me American high school vibes.If you are viewed as different or not fitting then you made outcast.The businesses such as Sanctuary and Oxfam are coercive,enabling and dismissive.Finally, community is dead unless you are popular or part of agendas.Even Islamic and foreign pedos,players and frauds mob rule and con every end.My advice:avoid and no contact.

Pathetic excuse of a council 😂 charge an extortionate amount to not fix the roads, only collect a certain bin every fortnight! And spend our hard earned money on statues and rubbish for tourists.

I went and dined to a small newly opened restaurant and I overheard the 2 council officers talking to the staff. I thought is disrespectful telling off the staff not to use the umbrella with only one table and chairs and cost £100 !!!!! ( A money rocket) and not even allow me to drink my wine outside?? I’ve knew that this restaurant have got the licence to sell alcohol.
This is not right!! Is this a communist Colchester we are living in???

I'm visiting friends in Colchester 24th may 2024, what a state the bus seating area closes at 3.50 with so much trash in it,the guy who closed it pushing a waste cart,you have stand outside to view the screen,- no good if it's raining plus dirty windows.would I recommend Colchester not a hope dire upgrade needed ! ! !
Then went for a meal no bus the number 75, another couple also waiting to get same bus we ended up paying half in a taxi Dean the driver very good turned up at 19.15 had to get taxi £18 Colchester to Tip Tree ,
If you don't drive remember to include a taxi as the public bus service is rubbish compared to other city's

They keep putting tax up and dropping services despite large influx of people. All about money and they are making already rubbish roads worse by unbelievably unnecessary works that no one needs

I have been a council tenant since early 1998, I am a disabled pensioner with osteoarthritis, spondylitis, dysrhythmia and Hyperion and they have never wanted to do anything for me. They chose to ignore the surveyor's reports done in 2012 and 2022. The bungalow is mouldy and damp and is also suffering from subsidence, cracks in the walls and ceilings, crumbling plaster, none of the floors are level, they slope in places.The windows, front door and back door have had it. The internal doors need replacing. There are also other things that need attending to.

Colchester Council have never been that impressive but now they have introduced a new answer phone that comes on when you dial the main number, and guess what you get 10...yes 10 options! Not only do people not have time to listen to 10 badly described options but who thought of such an INSANE idea! Colchester Council are as usual trying to DETER people who pay their wages off calling them. Why am I not surprised! WHAT A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!

Colchester council are the worst council I've ever lived under. Lying, underhand blood sucking degenerates the lot of them!! They'll take money out of you any way they can. They're rude, disrespectful and downright incompetent! On top of that I've just been fined 100 for dropping litter in town, which I didn't, I had done nothing at all. The so called camera that saw me was behind me so it wouldn't have been able to see anything. When I disputed it I was threatened with another so called order and he started to call the police. I am autistic and had be approached at speed for something I'd not even done. Furious!!! So I'm now paying out £100 so I don't get locked up for something I hadn't done. You're a disgrace the lot of you! And your so called housing officer is a little Hitler too, up her own backside because she's been given a job with a suit and power. Screw you!!!

The council are attempting to charge for greenery collection from 01 January 2024. Soon fly tipping will again return and cost thousands of pounds to clear up. Just increase the council tax. Why are you making all these additional problems and trying to create separate charges? They are also trying to offer initially only 240 litre capacity instead of the 364 litre capacity you can put out now ie 4 sacks. Then they will want to charge you for a wheelie bin. Just dump your grass in the high street until they stop this scheme. Traffic at the refuse centre will bring Colchester to a halt costing thousands of pounds and increasing pollution. Please can we have some educated councillors?

The neighbours are all stuck up and snobby, they report you for the colour bags your using and take abusers sides in domestic abuse relationships and also the council and residents discriminate against mental health issues which is disgusting for a council! They also say what animals you “can and can’t afford” and make you sell your pets

I miss being under Chelmsford Council. Rubbish and recycling collection is awful. Get your rubbish out by 7am though they'll turn up whenever they feel like it. Rest it in a box to stop it blowing into the road? Won't take it. Compostable bag has a company logo? Rejected. Split the black sack chucking it around before getting to their truck? Just leave the mess. Wheelie bin? Nah, just leave it out in sacks and hope that animals won't pull it apart... Which they will then blame you for. All very precious.
Hey it's okay though - won't take your rubbish but they'll have your Council tax.

What do I have to do to get permission to keep a pet? I have phoned on three occasions and emails four times and not once has anyone replied in 8 days. I am desperate for help, hence I have come here.

Colchester is going down hill.
Residents get less and less for their money.
Roads are diabolical.
Litter and weeds are a plenty.
Im embarrased to say I live in this district.

I was issued a parking ticket via Parkingpartnership.org (23/04/2022). Despite attempting to challenge the PCN (no signs on the side road prohibiting parking and I wasn't blocking a driveway), they still issued a ticket.
Colchester Council are clearly using unscrupulous companies to genenerate income a desperate manner!

I was in Colchester town centre today and knew I was going to need a toilet. I knew where the nearest to where I was so I headed there (I believe it is in Eld Lane). A sign saying closed for maintenance. I knew there was one in Castle gardens so I headed there. Sign on the door saying closed for maintenance. So I thought there is a public toilets near the pond and headed down there. The whole area wes fenced off.
Eventualy. I went into a coffe shop and asked to use their toilet. My advice to anyone thinking of visiting Colchester, DONT. Not only are all the public toilets near the town centre either closed or inaccesible, there is no information given regarding alternatives. Thouroughly thoughtless and inconsiderate council. If youu are a tourist, give Colchester a wide berth and go somewhere else.

Very poor council. The planning of shops in the town centre is not carefully considered. There are many duplicates of the same trade (e.g., burger restaurants, kebab restaurants). The traffic in Colchester is very bad. Why is the high street treated as main road? Many areas in and around Colchester exceed EU guidance on pollution levels. The Colchester Council should take inspiration from Ipswich, which is near by, but a much nicer town.
