I visited the Wareham branch earlier…

I visited the Wareham branch earlier today (22nd July 2025), the staff were ever so helpful. I got great advice, as well as the service. The staff here are a real asset to your organisation, very professional. Thank you so much to everyone. Special mention to Lesley

BISHOPS PLACE Plymouth

BISHOPS PLACE, PLYMOUTH. The staff are awful, always at the end of their teather, my medication in never ready on time, they don't know where it is, or they claim you've collected your medication. no customer help of support just an email address/there app website is leas than useful/helpful and the staff don't know how to use it ... its a clown show operation, the profit needs taking away from these vile profit driven monsters and put back into the public NHS

Disappointed by Excessive Pricing at Day Lewis Chemist

I was recently at a tennis tournament at Croydon High School where my 9 year old grandson was playing and urgently needed sunscreen. I went into Day Lewis Chemist on Addington Road in Selsdon and was shocked to be charged £18.39 for a bottle of Nivea SPF50. The same product is sold at Tesco for £7.50.
I fully understand that businesses need to make a profit but more than doubling the price feels like daylight robbery, especially for an everyday essential like sunscreen. It left a very poor impression. Needless to say I won't be returning to Day Lewis.

Day Lewis Penzance

Day Lewis Penzance. They really need more staff as the queue is always horrendous. Often you wait an hour and are told your prescription isn't there. Most of the staff are great. One though, shouts out your business. Repeats your name and personal details loudly. She said she was deaf. There should be a screen or some form of separation. It's a security issue for some people. Not everyone feels comfortable speaking their address out loud.

Day Lewis Selsdon - what's happened to you???

Day Lewis Selsdon is so messed up pharmacy! Once it was a very good pharmacy, but not anymore! While ago, you can get your prescribed medication on the day, or the latest - next day. Not anymore! Furthemore, the customer service is getting worse and worse. Today I went to collect my child's prescription after receiving a text from them and when I opened the bag, there was one medication missing, and they did not even noticed it (if I would not opened the bag). I was told to come 2 hours later as that medication was in their delivery and they are still unpacking it. I came 2.5 hours later to found out they lost it because they did not mark it! After 25 minutes of searching, while I was standing there stressed as I was late for school pick up (I told them at least 3 times I was getting late), they took identical medication from the shelf, put a name/address sticker on it and handed it to me! On my question why did they waste my time and did not do it straight away, when it was clear they lost the medication, I was told only "Well..."!! Apology also was missing, it did not even come to their mind to say sorry for messing me up like that!

Money Saver…

Day Lewis at Arnside Road Southmead Bristol could save themselves some money by having the phone taken out, they might as well because no matter when you call no-one answers it.Ive tried ringing many times regarding a non delivered prescription and no-one answers.

An unpleasant experience.

I had a very unpleasant experience at the St Clare, Penzance branch of DayLewis on the evening of the 28th of April:

I noticed a manager outside the pharmacy refusing access to an elderly lady who had walked to the pharmacy in good time at approximately 17:50 for heart medication. I challenged the 'manager' and asked him politely if he would allow the elderly lady access to the pharmacy, especially considering her medication needs (as the pharmacy wasn't due to close until 6:00 p.m). He said there was a queue that was 'a 6:15 queue' and that he had to 'draw the line somewhere'. I told him that the elderly customer had arrived in good time and that it was not her fault that there was a queue and that she wasn't the type of person, that all things considered, should be refused access at that point. The manager was adamant that he would not provide service to the elderly lady and I again politely asked him to reconsider and when he would not I asked him what his name was in order to make a complaint. His response was rude and quite confrontational: "my name is Chris Morris - would you like me to spell it for you" I responded by informing him that I would make a complaint "Go right ahead", he said, "see how far that gets you".

I made sure the elderly lady, who was quite stressed at this stage was ok and offered to get some medication from her somewhere else.... I had an important meeting to go to at 6:00 p.m. at the adjacent surgery, but anybody human would find time for an elderly lady who needed heart medication.... Anyone but Mr Morris it seemed.

There is absolutely no excuse for this behaviour.... None at all. This is not how we treat people in our small town here. This is not how anybody should treat people anywhere else for that matter.

I can understand DayLewis staff have to go home at some point, But you simply do not deal with vulnerable people in that way and I would go as far as to say that if you have the lack of humanity that Mr Morris showed then you really shouldn't be in this business whatsoever.

I was so incensed I brought this up at the meeting I referred to earlier. I was shocked to learn that a number of participants at the meeting had also faced similar issues with this particular pharmacy. This is extremely disappointing, not least as I've had interactions with some of the staff at this particular pharmacy; they are generally good people and Mr Morris and his extremely unprofessional manner does not reflect, in my experience, their diligence and decency.

My recommendation would be for customers to use a different pharmacy, until a more cerebral manager is brought in to improve efficiency and to hire the requisite staff needed to properly manage DayLewis Penzance, without taking out It's current inability to serve on a vulnerable elderly lady.

Day Lewis: an insulin-dependent diabetic writes

As an insulin-dependent diabetic I rely on insulin being prescribed on time. Day Lewis reliably do not have stock to dispense. They seem to be permanently behind in restock. One time I was told a particular form of insulin was not in stock and I’d have to come back. When I Insisted that I had run out of my supply a pharmacist (after an interminable wait), came forward and offered me some he had ‘found’! On another occasion they couldn’t supply the same insulin for the best part of a month. When I collected my next prescription I reminded them I was still owed last month’s insulin. Noting they had no answer (and realising I had a good supply at home) I suggested we just skip that order. The pharmacist immediately agreed (seemingly one less backlog to worry about). I’m sure the Royal Pharmaceutical Society don’t endorse that approach!
My general experience of St Clare’s Day Lewis in Penzance is as follows: slow service; apparent understaffing; poor organisation; prescriptions not ready to dispense (long after they were signed by the surgery); permanent queues; and wasted journeys. Like many, one suspects, I have switched to another pharmacy. My new, family run local pharmacy puts Day Lewis in the shade: it always has stock and always dispenses on time. No queues too. Time the St Clare Surgery insisted Day Lewis get their act together. Or reconsider their contract.

Day Lewis Pharmacy Glasshouse Lane, Exeter

Called in to Day Lewis Pharmacy in Glasshouse Lane, Exeter to collect a prescription - Was advised that they were waiting for a delivery - Contacted surgery who advised me to ask them for a printed prescription - I returned to Day Lewis and requested printed Prescription so I could get it elsewhere - they then provided me with the tablets! They had previously told me they were waiting for a delivery when that was obviously not the case - they were behind in making up prescriptions. No apology - just said that I was told that because they were only making up emergency prescriptions. Take a look at their website re their core values.

Day Lewis in Forest Hill Road - Great Help!

Day Lewis in Forest Hill Road always has is a busy chemist with people collecting prescriptions, etc. yet, the staff are always friendly, courteous, patient and helpful. I have no problem recommending them to anyone. The other day they assisted me with a troublesome but unusual request concerning a patient who was upset with a misspelling of her name. The staff took the time to advise me to speak with the GP surgery to get the name corrected and then took the time to reprint the labels on the meds to reflect the correction. Thank you Day lewis!

Day Lewis Pharmacy Penzance

Day Lewis Pharmacy Penzance. Always a long queue, usually out of the door into the car park, because of insufficient staff for the workload. There's a sign up to say that there are delays due to "unprecedented levels of staff illness". Unfortunately the sign has been there more than two months, so when does this become "normal levels of staff illness"? Truth is they don't give a stuff about wasting customers' time as it costs them nothing.

Visited south molton day lewis for a…covid jab

Visited south molton day lewis for a covid jab. The queue was 6 persons long with one person serving, I was 10 minutes late for my appointment as the second lady unpacking a delivery didn't think to help her colleague with the growing queue.
The windows are very large, full of cobwebs & dead flies.

No way to opt out of SMS spam

I have no problem with my local pharmacy or the staff there. Always had a pleasant experience.

Unfortunately I started receiving SMS spam for their other services. When I tried to opt out, they also seem to have opted my out of notifications for when my prescriptions are ready. I've been trying to get it sorted but they seemed to get to the point they just started ignoring me. It's been 3 months so far. All I want is a text when my prescription is ready, but it seems to be all or nothing.
