Cookie consent a joke

Didn't get past the cookie consent screen...totally rubbish, no opt out of all, just a laborious one by one rejection of each vendor and advertiser, basically selling all your digital details, no thanks.

No sales on eBid

I migrated from eBay to eBid when the former introduced their so called 'buyer protection fee' for private sellers. I signed up for the platinum service paying over £60 and after a couple of months I have had absolutely no sales. Aa a stamp collector I buy up lots containing some items that are surplus to my requirements. I have placed them on eBid in many cases at a price less than I paid and still no sales.

I like the way the site operates but with no sales it is pointless and I have clearly wasted my money.

Moved to eBid from eBay and it's like a bottomless well where no one buys anything :(

Well I am one of those long term sellers who was forced to leave eBay because of the stupid new delayed payments and simple delivery which I do not like... So I joined eBid and paid them £69... hoping I would be able to get some regular sales and be paid by PayPal which translates into instant payment which I really need sometimes - well 4 months on and THERE HAVE BEEN NO SALES at all on eBid... Whilst I like it and it's a great site and the people that run it seem like nice people, I am wondering WHY don't they invest more in advertising ?... with more people directed to the eBid site It would work so much better... I'm sick of seeing eBay and Vinted ads on telly... why don't eBid invest in some more advertising and publicity instead of being so laid back ?... at the moment the site is like a ghost site, only a few views (about 20) but that's it no sales or interest... IT'S LIKE I HAVE JUST CHUCKED MY STUFF DOWN A BOTTOMLESS WELL ! - Come on guys, Surely with more and more people now migrating to eBid to get away from eBay's awful new changes and UNWANTED PAYMENT DELAYS you should do more to help these people gain visibility and make some regular sales ?... It says that on eBid "your stuff will be shown/seen on Google shopping" but when I search google I don't seem to be seeing any of my items ?... and that is with their highest Platinum membership... and 1 eBid shop now open !

Might be good in a few years, but feels like a school project at the moment

Just bought my first items from eBid and the whole experience is a bit clunky. A lot of the search listings don't show product images until you click into a item (using Brave v1.77.101 with no plugins). After buying an item and paying with PayPal your redirected back to the pay now page rather than purchase complete page. When a seller entered the tracking details I don't seem to be have any access to them. Looking for help redirects you to their forum which (even when logged in) doesn't allow me to ask a question. And the whole UI is just messy, filled with upgrade begging messages, leader boards(!?) and other irrelevant rubbish. I'll likely stick with their bigger competitor for the time being.

Ebid is not a good alternative to eBay.

I thought eBid would be a good alternative to eBay. It is not, just like Bonanza isn't. I listed well over a hundred items on eBid and sold none. And yes, when I did list them on eBay a lot of them sold. Also I have sent eBid a few messages recently with questions or complaints. No response. I am an eBay seller for almost 20 yrs. I tried eBid a few times in the last couple years. eBid does take a smaller sold fee but that is the only thing better than eBay.

A disappointing start, now with extra disappointment.

Hoping that eBid would be a great place to go from eBay, I tried to create an account. I then realised that I had created an account years ago, so was unable to use the username I wanted.

Hoping that eBid wouldn't be the usual AI 'computer says no' nightmare that's made me wanting to leave eBay (effectively been refused to have both a personal and business account since their AI is convinced my new personal account is some sort of tax dodge mecca, after 2 weeks and 8 used DVDs sold) I was sadly mistaken as they refused to help me recover my old account.

Yes - it only had one feedback. But it also has my username I wanted to use. I could have provided every bit of evidence they needed to prove ownership. Clearly they'd like another user to claim high numbers instead.

***

In your reply you state "Importantly, we would have been more than happy to help you change your new username back to the original one—this is something we routinely assist with when requested. However, we didn’t receive any request for this."

But it was very clearly implied - why on earth *else* would someone want to reactivate what we both agree was an ancient account? - and the terse reply didn't mention this, nor, more importantly, does your FAQs. If it's so routine, then why not add it to them?

***

So why not routinely point out it can be done 😂. Reactivate, reuse, you do seem to be getting hung up on nomenclature rather than understanding that someone who doesn't know or use your internal systems might use more colloquial terms to ask for something.

***

'We have assisted you at every level' - Nope, not having that. For clarity, here is your reply:

"Hi Stuart,

Username *** was a free status account with 1 feedback.

Due to not having the email and, having moved location, we suggest he simplist course of action would be to reregister."

End of. Not '...and then we can help you move your username'. So, nonsense to your claims I'd say.

We're sorry to hear about your disappointment and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

We’d like to clarify a few details, as we believe this situation may have been a misunderstanding. When you contacted us, you mentioned being unable to log in and no longer having access to the email address associated with your old account. Given that the account in question was a free account with only one feedback and limited activity, we simply suggested that it might be quicker and easier to start fresh with a new account.

Importantly, we would have been more than happy to help you change your new username back to the original one—this is something we routinely assist with when requested. However, we didn’t receive any request for this.

We understand how frustrating it can be when trying to reclaim a preferred username, especially when moving platforms. We genuinely try to offer practical solutions, even when access to old account information is no longer available. If you’d like to revisit this, we’d still be happy to help resolve it for you.

Wishing you all the best,
The eBid Team

We would not reactivate your old account. We would rename our old username and then update your new username to your old username. This is something we routinely do.

___

We state in the helpdesk terms: How can i change my username?
If you have registered and have made a mistake with your username or have a valid reason for changing, please contact us via the "Contact Us" tab on our "Help" index page section and if applicable we will make the necessary changes.

If this is not to your satisfaction we are sorry. However, we strongly believe that this negative feedback in unwarranted and, we have assisted you at every level.

Left Obey and listed all my items on…

Left Obey and listed all my items on Ebid it's slower, but much cheaper and with some effort you can sell stuff - just accept it's slower. I've just sold 10 items to one buyer who's also come from Obey .
Obey don't care about anyone and it's now impossible to sell cheaply as their buyers tax is culling all the private sellers in favour of Chinese business models. If everyone came over they would easily rival obey as it's now finished - look at its reviews on trustpilot 1.2 - could you make that up and remember it's impossible to get lower than 1 !!!!!!!!

I have been a long time ebid user

I have been a long time ebid user. Over 10 years! A lifetime member. 1,000 plus listings. I started noticing problems with the site after the addition of invasive ads. Pics not loading, strange emails requesting things, trying to list caused duplicate listings due to large ads popping up right when you click list item. 3 days ago my account was not accessible. I have tried each day sending emails(they have NO phone support) I have not gotten any response. I only sold about 5 things the past year on the site, which is fine as it is free for me to use unless i sell something then its 2%. But I also am a 20+ yr user of ebay. I sell from the same listings, 40 to 50 items a month from ebay. Fees much higher but if I have any problem, I can call and get a resolution in a few minutes. I will be dumping ebid now. What a waste of many many years of work! I am very unhappy how this all came about and with no communication from the company only shows me how little they care about their users.

I am an feeBay escapee and have enjoyed selling again with eBid. The system they have developed is very good and I was able to get familiarised with it in a short time. I am starting to make my first sales within a few days of listing and look forward to the future with eBid.

Selling on eBid.net

Just had another sale.
I like selling on eBid. It is a simple site but a marketplace that you are with other sellers.
With a membership, you are able to set up 5 stores.
You are your own boss and not having to have the "site" that doesn't get involved in your business.
The fees are very little

This site, you, the seller will need to promote your items or stores. ( This beats having to pay monthly fees for a website and still have to promote yourself )

There could be some improvements such as additional payment options, shopping cart and . . but this site is functional if you are willing to put the effort into it. Read the HELP section.

Thanks eBid.net for being there.

Dubious at first but….

Great site to purchase from. Dubious at first as I’d never heard of it. Great bargains on my purchases, well bellow shop RRP’s.
Since bought two further products with zero issues.
I’m a convert!

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ABOUT EBID

(and why I remain here since 2008):
If you create a website from a company ie GoDaddy, you are given the tools to create your pages. The company does not advertise your website, you have to go out there and work at it yourself (all the time paying a fee for your website on a monthly basis) which becomes quite costly if you are financially on a tight budget. Plus you have to make sure you make enough sales to cover the website costs.

Ebid, depending on your membership ie Platinum, (one time payment for lifetime) give you all the tools you need to create your 5 free stores with unlimited listings and up to 15 images per listing, for free, your choice of shipping options and payment options, your selling terms and conditions etc. Basically, everything you really need to sell with a 2% FVF on items sold. That's it. For me, it's akin to having a website (almost) but with some very plausible legal/liability restrictions in place to protect the Ebid owners, plus they are not constantly bombarding us with new stupid rules every 5 minutes and restricting us in our selling. I treat my membership as if it was my own website and I have to go out there in the big WWW and advertise my goods (which can be a lot of fun for me as I can pick and choose how and when) and I don't have to worry about any monthly website fees.

Now, if you want Ebid to advertise, which countries should they do it in? Just the UK? or just USA? What about Canada? What about all the other countries taking part in Ebid? It is going to be very costly if they involve multiple countries. So now the question remains, what are you willing to pay Ebid to advertise for you/country? Listing fees? Higher FVFs? Monthly store fees? What about investors who will eventually want their share of the loot? Do we really want to go down the eBay route or Etsy route where once, they were successful bidding and/or handcrafted selling sites but now bombarded with a gazillion companies listing cheap outbidding/craft items pushing the small businesses out because of higher costs.

For me, Ebid is perfect, it gives me all the tools I need, they leave me alone (as long as I don't break the rules), I get to decide when and where I advertise. Plus their customer service is really good. Just last week I had a problem listing a new item, I notified them and within 24hrs (it was about 14hrs) they got back to me and fixed the issue. I know Ebid is not a high-falutin mega technical site, but it is a good solid site for my needs. I don't sell much, but that's ok for me. I can park my listings on Ebid for as long as it takes and not pay an extra penny to do so.

Frankly I am puzzled

Frankly I am puzzled. The rave acolades Ebid speak of compared to my own experience and that of friends simply do not stack up.

Having some years ago shelled out the initial £50 (but never received the tea-shirt!) I optimistically ventured forth having been a devotee of Ebay for years.

There was a trickle of sucessful sales at first and I still continue to plug Ebid in every Ebay sale - aprox 12,000 100% feedback. But now nothing on Ebid. I am reminded of the definition of an idiot - 'one who keeps repeating the same task hoping for a different outome'. One of my Ebid listed items (with offers) claims to have had over 600 hits - but no takers! As a wager I even listed a brand new £200.00 item for a pound for a short time, I did not lose my bet!!

So, the concept that UK based Ebid is a quasi-scam looms large in my mind again. Statistically, having sold almost 1,000 of just ONE item on Ebay but not a single one on Ebid does not correlate with logical common sense. It is a near statistical impossibility.

So I rest my case. If someone out there can persuade me otherwise, I would be interested to hear from you.
