Ego Restaurants Avis 

Just returned this evening from our first visit to this recently opened pub. Food good but terrible service. A party of eight including two children taking two and three quarter hours. We had a starter to share, a main course each and sweets for the two children. Why should it take so long despite having to ask the serving staff where our order was. The serving staff did their best but the organisation was none existent. The serving staff did their best but to add insult to injury was the 10% service charge added to the bill, which we paid. They must get their act together and no apology for the very poor level of service.

Went to the Ego (running mare ) in Chelmsford Essex and had an amazing meal. From the food to the service the whole visit couldn’t be faulted. When we booked we stated I was gluten free which I always do when I book somewhere. It’s the first time I’ve been somewhere and they had the gluten free menu waiting for me. And there was so much choice I was blown away. I had as much choice as a normal menu. The food was amazing and as mentioned before the staff were very good. Will definitely be back as I need to try more of the menu 👍🏼

YOU NEED TO BE VERY WELL OFF TO GO TO EGO EVRYTHING IS OVER PRICED £14 FOR TWO DRINKS, AND AT LEAST £18 FOR ONE MEAL NO WONDER THE PUB WE VISITED WAS EMPTY, COME ON EGO PULL YOUR SOCKS UP AND LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD, WE ARE ALL NOT MILLIONAIRS.

I went with a friend for Sunday lunch. We were given a table, which was very clean, and ordered drinks. The food we ordered arrived hot and delicious. We both had the roast and were pleased to see at least 5 different vegetables, and I was able to have gluten free gravy. We had a waiter called Ethan who did an excellent job of making sure we had everything to enjoy our meal. I enjoy Ego and will be returming soon.

Always had really good service and food at this restaurant but today was completely different experience while trying to organise a takeaway meal for 8 people for my birthday on Tuesday. Unfortunately I have just had a knee replacement operation so our visit for my birthday has had to change from an in restaurant booking to a takeaway as I am not fit to visit. We phoned Ego, Stockton Heath today to enquire about using our Ego club 20% discount to be told that this isn’t valid on takeaway orders. So not only do Ego charge exactly the same prices for takeaway or dine in, they refuse the 20% discount if you don’t dine in. There are 8 of us that Ego are now going to miss out on, a bill of which would probably be about £200 but we were still told today that they still won’t honour any form of discount. I think this finishes our relationship with Ego. Very disappointed and annoyed.

I showed her the booking on my phone saying it was a 2 hr time slot
She said some were only 90 mins
Not impressed at all will not be returning

Always a great experience and remains my favourite Sheffield eatery! Carys was lovely and I’m glad I went with her recommendation on the hanging kebabs - delicious! Thank you and I can’t wait to come back.

Visit to Ego at the Grapes Shrewsbury 25/01/2022
We were looking forward to steak night and booked an available table for 3 people 21.00
We arrived at 20.50 and were shown to our table, drinks orders and food order taken and drinks promptly bought to our table, good start very pleased.
The restaurant was busy which is great to see as businesses need support after the last 2 years of disruption.
45 min later no steaks, our waitress looked over and said have you not had your meals yet?
2 steaks were bought out, the waitress then asked our Son did you order anything?
Yes we ordered 3 steaks at the same time, apologies were made by staff for the error.
The 3rd steak meal was bought out 15 min later 22.00. Which was under cooked.
Very disappointing service,.
Ego spend a considerable amount of money on decor which is relaxing and creates a great atmosphere but sadly let down by very poor customer service and staff training.
Must try harder Ego to retain repeat business.

I would normally give 5 stars, however I’ve removed a star for the the following reasons. Whilst Ego Cannock has been my favourite restaurant for years now, they never read the comment requests when booking online!
Due to mobility issues, we always request a seat in the conservatory because I can’t walk very far. When we arrive the reception person always asks us to follow them, and then walks off at speed, heading towards the kitchen area before we can get a word in; which is the other side of the restaurant. It’s very hit and miss whether we get a conservatory seat.

The food is generally spot on, however the dessert portions seem to be getting smaller, a wee bit expensive for a tiny sliver of pudding.

Come on EGO, you can do better.

Food nice but being placed next to a large table of loud parents with young children made whole experience poor. Staff should have been more considered and placed us and other tables elsewhere as wasn’t busy. They kept saying’
They’ll be going soon’ which is why we stayed put and yet we left before them as we couldn’t wait to exit the noise .

My partner and I visited the Ego restaurant in Penarth on Sunday last and had a really enjoyable experience in every way . A warm welcome on arrival and a very attentive waitress too . The food was excellent in both presentation and taste , we both had the three course Sunday roast , and we couldn’t fault it , not that we were looking to I hasten to add !
Our overall experience was an enjoyable one , thank you Ego . You have also created a great vibe and friendly and enthusiastic waiting staff .

Visited EGO at the Schooner Inn, Lavernlock, Sully. Best resturant i have eaten in for a long time. Food was great and well presented. There was a long delay in serving of the main courses after starters. The resturant had great ambiance. We will visit again.

We ate at Ego for a birthday and the service (although extremely slow) was great. Staff were attentive to allergies and were friendly. The food was well presented and tasty too :-)

Totally underwhelming!!!
We went for the roast rump of beef. The food was tepid at best! Roast parsnips had not been roasted, The potatoes were just cooked and again not roasted! How can you make Yorkshire puddings so chewy??? When we complained we were offered a resigned apology and a free coffee!! No thank you as we didn’t want to see how they could spoil that. From the waiters reaction I doubt we were the first people to complain about their meal. We won’t be returning

First time visiting ego the staff was friendly and helpful .
The food was delicious and really enjoyed it all very clean.
Definitely going back there 10 out of 10

Went to the one in Dore Sheffield the food was lovely but the service was terrible the staff were stood at the end of the bar talking and we had empty plates and the dessert took forever.
