Complaint Title: Faulty Smoke Alarms Causing 40+ False Alarms, Thanksgiving Emergency, and Zero Accountability
Over the last 18 months, I have experienced over 40 false alarms caused by faulty smoke detectors from this company. I have a Ring Alarm system that monitors every detector, so I have hard proof of every single incident. What should have been a reliable safety system has turned into a nonstop nightmare.
I originally installed seven brand-new smoke detectors, all purchased at once. Every single one failed. The company replaced them — and those replacements failed too and I replaced again. In total, I’ve had to replace seven units, twice, within a year and a half. That’s not a coincidence; that’s a defective product line.
The worst event happened today, Thanksgiving at 4 AM. Four different alarms began going off while I was hours away from home. Ring was preparing to dispatch the fire department, and I had no choice but to drive a 4+ hour round-trip in the middle of the night to prevent the fire department from breaking my door down. That ruined the holiday, cost me money, and put me in danger on the road — all for another false alarms caused by their junk equipment.
This entire situation is unacceptable, irresponsible, and frankly embarrassing for a company that sells “safety” products.
Here’s what I’m demanding:
• Full financial reimbursement for all defective units: $75each
• Reimbursement for tolls and gas from the emergency Thanksgiving trip: $100
• Compensation for the ongoing stress, sleep disruption, repeated false alarms, and the 4 AM Thanksgiving incident: $1,000
If they do not resolve this, I will be filing in small claims court. I’ve given them more than enough chances. A company selling safety equipment that triggers emergency responses more than 40 times in 18 months is a liability, not a service.
Shame on this company for putting me through this and refusing to fix the root cause.
