Howdens - Swansea Cwmdu Avis 

We wanted some storage for a bedroom that once was used as an office so needed cupboards that could be versatile for our needs. Paul, one of the designers came out to look at the room and our needs and came up with an ideal set of wardrobes that had shelving and hanging space.one he had come up with the design I was invited to look at the designs and make any changes if needed. The whole process was easy and Paul gave me the confidence to go ahead with the project.

Ordered wardrobe and office desk furniture for self-fit in Halesworth Porcelain from Howdens Cwmdu branch. The designer, Paul Penhale, provided a great design that worked well in the two odd-shaped rooms concerned, he took a positive approach and was accessible and helpful throughout, plus no quibble about returning items we had over-ordered.

we are more than happy with our new Howdens kitchen. We were met by Alex who was friendly, patient, and genuinely helpful. Alex took the time to understand what I wanted and offered practical suggestions that improved the final design after coming out to the house to measure. The delivery team was punctual and professional, and the quality of the cabinets exceeded my expectations. I’d happily recommend them to others.

Thought the staff were really helpful nothing was a problem and the goods were value for money

I have always used the Cwmdu branch and found staff helpful I can’t remember his name but he’s always happy. Last visit there was a lady serving who gave the impression she didn’t want to be there. She also lied about a deal that was still on, so I went to another branch and purchased quite a few items under the rooster deal saving me quite a few hundred pounds. Very disappointed with the quality of service which is unusual.

The guy on reception was knowledgeable and easy to deal with and knew his stuff.

After visiting the showroom at Cwmdu, my partner and I decided on the Greenwich slate grey cupboards and acoustic oak panelling to create a feature wall in our dining room. An appointment was made by branch manager Nadine Morgan for Paul Penhale kitchen designer to visit the house. Paul was brilliant and designed it just as we had imagined. Dean Edwards our kitchen installer was again brilliant, very professional, and helpful throughout. Everything went to plan with no issues and I would thoroughly recommend Howdens Cwmdu and their team.

We recently had a new kitchen and media wall supplied by Paul at Howdens, and the whole experience has been fantastic from start to finish.

Paul provided excellent service throughout the entire process – from the initial design right through to delivery. He really took the time to understand what we wanted and offered helpful suggestions that made a big difference to the final result.

The quality of the kitchen and media wall is outstanding, and everything looks absolutely fabulous now it’s installed. We couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out.

Very poor experience with Howdens Swansea Cwmdu.

We had three design appointments for a Clerkenwell kitchen and were very clear that symmetry and a fitted wall-to-wall finish were important to us. During installation, we were left with a visible 3.5 cm wall gap that had not been clearly communicated during the design/sign-off process.

The key issue is this: customers are not permitted to have the fitter’s technical plan to review. We were only given the client-facing online /CAD design link and the designer’s explanation. In the online client view, the gap did not read as a significant visible 3.5 cm gap in the finished kitchen. It appeared at most as a slight shadow/fine line. That is a very different thing.

To make matters worse, a right-hand filler panel had been omitted from the design. Had it been included, the remaining reveal would likely have been much smaller and visually acceptable. We lost the balance and symmetry requested AND ended up with a large gap. So this was not just about “tolerance” - it was about how that tolerance was managed and communicated in the design.

Howdens’ response was to say the CAD was “illustrative only”, that the gap was shown, and that because they are a trade-only business their contract was with the fitter/account holder, NOT with us. They offered a filler panel and cornice only, but refused to cover remedial labour and refused responsibility for any damage during the remedial fitting. In other words: parts only, but the practical cost and risk of putting right their design issue was left with us and the fitter.

We escalated through depot, customer service, management and legal. The final position remained the same.

For context, I previously bought the same Clerkenwell range from Howdens Finchley in 2018 and had a vastly superior, seamless experience. That is part of why this was so disappointing.

I would avoid, but if you do use this branch, check everything extremely carefully and do not assume the client-facing online CAD view clearly communicates all final gaps. Ask direct questions in writing and insist on clarity before signing anything off. Very dissapointed indeed

Absolutely shocking, and not for the first time, bits missing, carcasses damaged. It’s all the time and it’s always me that looses out having to send my guys back again to sort out your incompetencies.

Paul was very helpful and patient. Replaced a damaged item very quickly, would recommend.

I am really pleased with the kitchen. The design by Paul Penhale is fantastic and makes it so easy to navigate. My original idea was discussed with Paul, who make some suggestions, which really enhanced the design. The quality of the kitchen is great and the quartz surface provides a fantastic finish!
