The Mayfair Chippy Avis 

If I could give no stars I would.
The Mayfair chippy in Knightsbridge what an awful experience myself and my husband had.
We’ve had recently visited the Mayfair branch outstanding service fantastic food. My husband visited the knightsbridge branch a few weeks ago with a friend and thoroughly enjoyed his visit . Now we come to yesterday‘s experience on arriving just after 5 o’clock we were greeted by who I assume is the manager we asked if we could have a table to be told quite rudely that we could have seats outside or a tiny little table in the front of the restaurant my husband request was there any tables available at the back of the restaurant for the manager to say no Fully booked? I was confused as 2 booths were empty-also a table next to us . I requested to have the table he said it was dirty Needed to be cleaned I said I would wait for it to be cleaned for him to sigh at me he grabbed a cloth from behind the counter wipe the table down put some clean cutlery and walked away didn’t talk to me at all to take a seat , my husband had needed to use the restroom when he returned he said there are tables available in the restaurant, we waited for our order to be taken by a lovely young man , then a couple came in asked for a table they did not have a booking I could hear the manager asking this then took them straight out to the restaurant to be seated not even 10 minutes have passed , so now you have availability? When the manager returned I asked why he had refused myself & husband a table for him to say it’s seated next to a large family with children I didn’t think you would want it ?the first issue you never gave me that choice the 2nd issue you never asked the couple if they wanted to be seated next to a large family , very strange. I also query the booth that was empty that we were not allowed to sit in , yet a member of staff appeared with his lunch and sat in the booth that paying customers are not allowed to use to eat his lunch. For the manager to tell me staff have the right to sit where they choose. Yes I agree then maybe use the seat at the bar suited for single use To this point we decided to leave then all of a sudden he has available seats for us . I can’t express how rude this man was. Myself and my husband are a mixed race couple the other couple were white I really do hope you are not employing people who are racially profiling couples. I would like a member of the team to contact me.

Tourist trap - few UK customers. Inauthentic and pricey. Fish not bad, but poor chips.

A friend and I had booked to go to the Knightsbridge Chippy but the taxi driver took us to the Mayfair instead. We were concerned that we would have to find our way to Knightsbridge. However, the staff could not have been more helpful and found us a table. They were chatty and very attentive.
The good was great, especially the fish with a lovely think crispy batter.

We expected good fish and chips and left genuinely impressed. The fish was fresh and beautifully cooked and wasn’t greasy at all and the portions were generous!

The menu offers more than just fish and chips too, making it a great option for any occasion.

The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly proud of what they serve, which really added to the experience. Everything arrived promptly and was presented well.

The Mayfair Chippy is well worth a visit. It’s the kind of place you’d happily return to.

Lunch yesterday with a friend who was down from Glasgow.
Very busy restaurant.
Staff were lovely - helpful and professional.
Fried haddock was delicious - with very light batter, loaded fries - scrumptious!
Not cheap but well worth it - will definitely be going again. Thank you !

I am Coeliac- All the staff appeared to fully understand my dietary needs, they were very cautious to explain how their menu Wotan’s how the kitchen operates.
I had a first class meal - excellently prepared and served.

booked 3 weeks earlier, confirmed the week prior. arrived to find the reception couldn't find the booking. sat in a back room that was like a cheap cafe and was forgotten about as were to others. inquired about my order after 45 minutes wait to find that was lost also. manager sent waiter to see what had happened in the kitchen and he never returned. left after an hour. p.s. The menu prices were ridiculous.

Ate at the Bicester outlet- my order was wrong so I returned it and didn’t have time to wait for another meal to be cooked. I was assured by the young man that he had refunded the cost- didn’t print anything out and I believed him. When my bill arrived there has been no refund and no response to email sent asking them to sort. My credit card company won’t help so I’m out of pocket for a meal I couldn’t actually eat- not impressed.

Really enjoy eating at the Mayfair chippy! Extremely professional and welcoming staff. Delicious mussel popcorn for starters and the scampi tails are amazing!

Best Fish and chips in London, I think they have other branches too, I will always come back to this place, I just love it

So far it's the best fish and chips I have had in town
