They refusing to sell small items to Canada due the complexity of shipping process, that's really annoying.

I buy an order per week for years. I only buy when I can't find the exact same thing somewhere else for cheaper. They have perfect customer service and shipping times, but shipping costs are calculated incorrectly and very often way too much. More, their prices are insanely expensive and they do "shotgunning". Some unique items will be cheap to get you on the common stuff. Some people simply click and buy overpriced things. They count on that and it's calculated into their business model. Lately, they became too expensive and it's my last to go place. Still like them, just know that it's overpriced.

I do enjoy their checkout and shipping policies. They have never lied to me by doing this "fast" no hassle checkout.

The only negative I can think of is they got to greedy.

At first they let me know I was able to receive the order in Mexico, however I decided to receive it at El Paso, because of the shipping price, without explaining them further info

They let me know they can't ship my order to any address inside the U.S. since I'm probably going to take the order outside the country and they take a "conservative approach to shippments outside North America"

Literally only ordering 4 locating pins...

Reading the rest of the reviews I found out they really don't like foreign people, I thought it was only for the Mexico thing, but nah

Shipping incident, customer service was excellent and remedied the situation immediately.

Customer service is very out of date and rude. Even if they sold the products I was after I wouldnt buy from this place.

God have mercy on anyone that orders from this company. The employees are completely clueless, the orders never get shipped, and only the customers are left behind. Buyer beware

I've been using McMaster-Carr for years. They always have the bolts and other hardware that no one else has. They also have very good pdfs with dimensions as well as CAD renderings. These are very important when your building prototypes and trying to figure out what may or may not work on a one off project. The best part is you get them either the next day or the following. Highly recommend!

I've been using them since before smartphones when their website was THE place to go to search for my nuts, screws, bolts needs. Incredible detailed drawings so you knew what you were purchasing. And now via smartphone they shined again with one day delivery with regular ground price.

Hi, I've bought many products and customer service is very good, they answer the phone, they look things up and straighten things out. They will request clarification if they are uncertain what was ordered, great company to work with.

Industrial supplier for just about any mech/engineering/mfg part in the world.
Prices reflect quality parts, not cheap imports. I can be reassured that I'm getting a genuine part that will hold up to engineering specs (for example- fasteners are excellent quality and hold exact tolerances, no cheap big-box import stuff).
Everything is easy to find, orders can be split up by PO or job type. Fulfillment/Shipping is an example of how pefect a system can run. I've made hundreds of orders and NEVER had a mistake or quality issue. Not the cheapest by any means, but my timeline and sanity are worth the tiny extra cost.

They have a huge variety of hardware for my needs. Price is very reasonable too. I placed an order on Monday, it was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday but UPS lost the package. I called McMaster customer service and they got me sorted out immediately. Would buy from them again.

Completely ridiculous shipping rules. I placed an order online to be shipped to my customer location (that I have shipped to previously). Received a confirmation email and then was subsequently contacted by a rep stating they intercepted my order so UPS could return it as they could not ship to a third party. If I'm paying by credit card, why do they care who I'm shipping my items to?? It mentions nothing about this "rule" on their website.

They do not tell you how much shipping is going to be when you enter your order. I ordered a small quantity of metric screws and they could have been mailed for less than a dollar. They charged me $8.79 for shipping for $8.10 worth of screws..

They have quality products and have hard to find products, but their on line ordering system just sucks. All other companies tell you how much shipping will be before you finalize your order.

This is an excellent company to do business with. They have a truely incredible selection of products, both industrial and residential. Their online catalog is very easy to use. This week, I placed an order in the morning and it was delivered the next day. Some reviewers have complained about the fact that the shipping charge is not revealed when you make your purchase. This is a standard business to business procedure. I have been doing business with them for years both for personal and business purchases. Their shipping charges are fair, rest assured. People think they get free shipping with Amazon. Well think again. Amazon charges you 129 bucks a year for that. If you make 10 purchases a year that is $12.90 per shipment.

Shipping charge is not disclosed at any time when placing an order. There is no next page where you have shipping options! When you click on "Place order" it is the final step and they can charge you whatever they want to for shipping.
In fairness, their website is otherwise easy to use and the company responded within minutes to my concerns. The order arrived quickly and shipping charges were refunded to me after my complaint. If the shipping charges issue is resolved I would likely purchase from them again.

McMaster Carr believes Australia is a dangerous destination. McMaster Carr decided that a 5mm nut driver and other hand tools are strategic items.
That they are prohibited from shipping to Australia. They have gone mad or very lazy. They can not fill in a CN22 probably less than 10 words.

I recently placed a small order - just over $20 - with McMaster-Carr. During the order process I was not able to see, or even estimate, the shipping cost. All I got on the order page was "shipping and tax will be added." OK, I figured, I'll take a chance. 24 hours later, my shipment was in the mail and I finally got a receipt showing the shipping (and tax) amount. Turns out the shipping was more than 40% of the total order, making it substantially less competitive with other suppliers. My advice: (1) shop around. (2) If you MUST buy from McMaster-Carr, don't press "buy" until you know the shipping cost.
