Though they have a tremendous product line and what you are searching for is fairly easy to find, their shipping practice is horrendous. If you order more than one part, even on the same order they ship it separate, and charge a minimum of 1 pound per item. I recently ordered a thrust washer which weighed in at .03oz and a lock collar. Together, less than a pound but shipped separate, I was charged for 2 pounds. $5.39 a pound.

Awful. Unilaterally cancelled my order saying they couldn't ship due to the cost of complying with US export regulations.

Why pretend to accept orders and then cancel them? And there are no export regulations on a few screws and nuts!!

I’m giving them five stars despite their bizarre website tactic of blocking people searching for parts. They have an incredible catalog and more importantly, they’re shipping is world class. My orders typically arrive in just 1 to 2 business days which is greatly appreciated.

They are a one stop shop and their website is extremely easy to search and navigate.

$45 shipping for $45 worth of items that weigh maybe 2.5lb total. Shipping to Canada is not this expensive (I regularly ship from Canada to the US and it’s about $15 for 5lb) and I only ordered this small selection to try them out. I won’t be ordering anything again because there is zero transparency for shipping. They can charge whatever they like because you don’t get to choose if you want to complete the order with the shipping cost known.

My experience with McMaster-Carr has been outstanding. They're customer service team is always approachable and amazing. They respond to you real quick and they deliver the product to you before the promised date even, I really hope my hospital works with them and gives them more business in the future. At a time of need such as the COVID crisis: They have been responsible and amazing!

All orders have have been either incorrect quantity or incorrect sizes. Even after reviewing orders many times prior to ordering. Terrible communication skills. Great shipping, things arrived very quickly. If they had been correct even once would be 5 stars.

I use McMaster-Carr primarily for automotive needs. Using their web site is super easy by far the best site to quickly get to what you are looking for with no fluff or "offers" to interrupt navigating your way around. Finding hardware and electrical supplies is a breeze. I highly recommend using them if you are in the SouthEast. Most everything I have ordered literally shows up the next day even though I didn't select next day shipping. They may not always have the best price but the quality of goods combined with showing up the next day wins in my book.
No one at McMaster-Carr asked for this review. I just felt I needed to share with others how awesome they are to work with.

They don't like Canadians.
I ordered some double ended studs and nuts on line. Order went through, the next day I received an email that the order was cancelled.The reason given was the complexity and cost of shipping to Canada?? I then placed an order over the phone and was having the items shipped to a US address, ALL was good. Again I received an email saying the order had been cancelled because the final destination was Canada??
Go Figure, Nuts and bolts coming to Canada.

As far as MRO suppliers go they are the best! Pricing is usually in line with other MRO suppliers & their online catalog is easy to use & find items. They don't tell you in the catalog what brand you are getting (unless you can identify by the picture) but usually it is a trustworthy name brand. I would say Grainger & MSC are their biggest competitors. Would advise to avoid Grainger, I deal with them on a weekly basis because my company pushes us to use them - their prices are way high, sometimes double! Their website is terrible!. I don't use MSC very often but I would say they are very similar to McMaster.

Their customer service is exceptional from sales all the way to accounting .

Ordered one item to try them out. The online order does not show shipping cost. Requested a shipping cost by email and received a response stating shipping would be $7 and they would disclose shipping on an emailed receipt after item ships.. Called to confirm and was again told $7. Received emailed receipt after item was shipped showing shipping was $20 for an item that cost $42.

I ordered .750 304 ss, supposed to be 6" x 12". The thing was sheared, which was NOT stated in the description! The thing was severely stressed and bowed. Unusable. I do not have a week to have it replaced.

I am glad to find this company found what I needed and am waiting for the product in the mail now they were very pleasant and easy to talk with and I learned about this CO from a friend then found out other friends use them as well. Thank you for this CO.

Rudest and most worthless people I have ever done business with

I order from McMaster-Carr on a regular basis. I do not believe you will find another company that does "it" as well as them. They are the standard that all other companies strive to achieve. Website works well, ordering is a breeze, excellent customer service, ship extremely fast and cheap, billing is quick and accurate, products are as described. Will always order from McMaster given the choice. Only exception is having to watch for items that will go truck freight as that is not always apparent when ordering. Love doing business with this place.

I have been in business about 27 years now. I am in the process of closing my place due to health reasons. I have bought from McMaster the whole time. Not once have they given me reason to complain. Their telephone staff is run by fine Southern (polite) people, which are still there despite having a well-working website. Yes, their prices may be a bit higher because you are getting industrial-quality goods and not the junk you find at your local big box. Finally, go to your local favorite and ask for a 3/16" transfer punch. See if they even know what it is. Then see if they will sell it to you individually for a couple of bucks. McMaster will.

This is the place where you can find any little 'part' that nobody else has. They have everything. We looked everywhere for a little wheel to fix our sliding shower door. Nobody carried it. Ace Hardware said you can't get it anymore, replace the doors. Guess what? McMaster had it. If you need something you can't find anywhere this is the place. Expensive but cheaper than replacing everything.
