The website says free online valuation. However, they just came back to me and said a book has to be worth at least £100 for them to sell it at auction. They did not give me a valuation, even after I prompted them for further information. Not a great experience.
Excellent reliable service
On behalf of Alwyn and Joy we recieved punctual, friendly, helpful and courteous service. Nigel Kirk has been providing excellent advice and expertise for the family over a number of years. We cannot fault the service provided and will definitely be using Mellors and Kirk in the future.

Purchased two lots of china. , both of which were described as being in “good condition however not all items have been individually inspected “
What this actually means is that no one has looked at any of the pieces
The china was chipped in several places and the gold details were worn !!
When i came to collect the items the only person who said hello to me was a man cleaning the floor . Thank you
I was made to feel like I wasn’t wanted at the auction house
Everyone was sooooo grumpy and rude
Loads if other auction houses to use i will take my business elsewhere where they value and treat the customers with respect
Bought some brass candlesticks…
Bought some brass candlesticks described as period....when recieved some weeks later after payment i telephoned to complain they were of later manufacture....left details with the receptionist (told the auctioneer was with a client at that moment), never heard anything back. Not very proffessional.
Bid cancelled without reason
I was bidding on easy live and shown as top bidder. My bid was then cancelled for no reason and a bidder in the room at the same price 'won' the item. Tried to contact Mellors and Kirk for an explanation and they did not respond. I note other reviews show similar poor service.
Waste of time
I didn't want to give any stars let alone 1.
I took in some very valuable pearls for a 2nd valuation as I had seen online the date the auctioneer was at the shop in Bridgnorth Shropshire but after driving for over 30 minutes to get there I was told it was the day before and I had missed him.
After leaving the pearls with a lady there and taking pics and getting a receipt I left.
3 weeks passed and I'd heard nothing so I decided to just collect the pearls and forget the valuation so I checked the opening times on the website and once again I drove there only to find they were closed and that the only indication of this was on 1 of the screens in their window or if I had called.
The lady on the phone said the valuer would be in on the 31st March n as we were almost there I decided to wait even though I didn't really have a choice then a few days later I received an email saying quote -"unfortunately he has said that they are not of any great value".
What an absolute waste of time as the pearls are Mikimoto pearls and of extreme value.
Wish I had checked reviews first !!!!

We didn’t have a good experience with this company. After my father died my mum sold the family home near Nottingham and needed to sell most of the contents as she was downsizing after 50 years. The proprietor came to do a validation and cherry picked the good stuff. He promised he would get an expert opinion regarding some Egyptian artefact’s (likely genuine as my great-grandfather lived there) before the sale but never did. The rest went to Arthur’s and they were lovely. We didn’t get a good price for the stuff we sent to Mellors and made more from the rubbish we sent to Aurthurs! Very disappointing.
The packaging is complete crap
The packaging is complete crap! You do not put a £500 item in to an envelope with no protections! Pure shambles.

Didn’t adhere to the initial agreement,
When it came to paying out the accounts decided that it would take almost two months to settle
wouldn’t have it they were wrong, only after a heated discussion accepted the computer was in error !

We purchased an item online and they lost it and didn't take any responsibility or give us a refund. When we went there to collect the item, they said they already gave it to someone else - without our consent and without any evidence of our approval! They literally gave the item to a stranger and the owner denied any responsibility what so ever and refused to give refund. It was a shocking experience. We will try to avoid any interaction with this company in the future and would recommend everyone to do the same. No one deserves this.

Shocking! Went to get a valuation on a ton of silver left to sit on a clapped out sofa fot god knows how long got back in my car and took it to a reputable jeweller instead The bald headed guy needs to sort his attitude out as well rude to customers and probably would of called the police if someone gave him a slap unprofessional to say the least!!!!
An exceptional auction house
Knowledgeable, helpful, and extremely efficient. All of the lots that I consigned were handled with professionalism and expertise, and the majority exceeded their presale estimates. A first rate selling experience. Many thanks.
The worst auction house there is
The worst auction house there is. There are SO many to choose from, go anywhere but here. Replies to genuine questions are so patronising and rude. I was told I couldn't use my XRF machine to test the gold and silver as it would "spread X-Rays all over the room". It doesn't.
There are auction houses that bend over backwards to get your business...
Just attended a valuation day on…
Just attended a valuation day on Chatsworth Road with Nigel Kirk. We had 5 items and both my husband and I found his manner abrupt, quite rude and patronising. We are not experts, that is why we went to see him for his advice in the 1st place. I would not recommend their valuation days, Mr Kirk needs some training on customer service!!!
Item missing from a mixed lot, shrug from management
I bought a mixed lot, when I came all the way from down south in my car to collect it (over a week later) one item in particular was missing - an item I was especially excited to receive - I thought this was VERY bizarre and a bit suspect really perhaps it was separated into another lot haphazardly but I lean towards suspect activity. The receptionist was a nice patient lady but the manager’s/ valuer’s response was very lacklustre. It amounted to a shrug which is not an appropriate response in a customer service setting or as an ambassador of the auction house. Sometimes a customer just needs to hear sorry, I felt like the word was being avoided to dodge culpability. I wish I wasn’t as polite as I had been but I’m just not a confrontational person. Had I been smart enough to read other peoples reviews I would have avoided this auction house. Having read other peoples reviews my situation could have been worse! Disappointing.

Rude and snarky to my polite and friendly messages and instant payment. I think I will skip this auction house in future. Not worth it.

DECEITFUL UNTRUSTWORTHY UNPROFESSIONAL RAGTAG OUTFIT
ABSOLUTE UNPROFESSIONAL ARROGANT CLOWNS , BOUGHT ABOUT 25 LOTS PAID IN ADVANCE AND WENT TO COLLECT , FIRSTLY ONE LOT HAD BEEN MISREPRESENTED IN THE CATALOGUE AND WAS ONE ITEM INSTEAD OF TWO AS STATED AND A PART REFUND WAS AGREED THAT HAS NOT MATERIALISED , THE PORTER SIMON SAID THAT MY ITEMS HAD BEEN PACKED AND READY TO COLLECT BUT WAS IN FACT ONLY HALF THE ITEMS SO HE WENT TO GET THE REST WHICH DID NOT INCLUDE A LOT , BUT I HAD BOUGHT A LOT OF ITEMS AND DIDNT REALISE IT WAS MISSING , SIMON PHONED ME MONDAY MORNING AND I ASKED HIM IF HE HAD MY MISSING LOT AND SAID HE DID HE ASKED IF I HAD RECEIVED A LOT THAT HE GAVE ME BY MISTAKE , I HADN`T NOTICED IT BUT SAID I WILL LOOK AND PHONE HIM BACK , THE LOT IN QUESTION WAS A RING THAT WAS TANGLED IN WITH SOME ITEMS I HAD BOUGHT , I PHONED SIMON BACK AND SAID I FOUND THE LOT AND WOULD POST IT BACK AT MY EXPENSE AND HE AGREED TO POST MY WATCHES AND SORT OUT THE PART REFUND , I SENT THE RING BACK , THIS MORNING I HAD A PHONE CALL AGAIN FROM SIMON SAYING THAT I HAD STOLEN SOME RUBIES FROM THE RING WHICH IS RIDICULOUS , SO TO RECAP I AM OWED A PART REFUND WHICH I HAVEN`T GOT , I AM OWED A LOT WHICH I HAVE NOT GOT AND PAID FOR , I SENT BACK A RING THEY GAVE ME BY MISTAKE AT MY OWN EXPENSE FOR WHICH I HAVE BEEN ACCUSED OF STEALING STONES FROM , NEVER EVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN.
Absolutely atrocious
Absolutely atrocious, I won two lots with Mellors and Kirk, and they wouldn’t let me have the items that I won. I spoke to Martha Parvin at Mellors and Kirk. She spoke down to to, and I’m absolutely appalled. Shame on you Mellors and Kirk. 😡😡😡
