Moor Hall Hotel & Spa Avis 

This is supposed to be a 4 star hotel and certainly charged 4 star prices for
what was rather a disappointing stay. Hotel feels tired . Room was in need of refurbishment and skirting boards were dusty . Cooked breakfast was cold and waiting staff did not seem concerned when this was raised with them. Sadly would not stay at Moor Hall again .

Flat bread was awful, peaches on a flat bread, tiny amount
We paid an extra amount with sides and sweets totalling 40 pound and we are not big eaters.
Comparing 70 pound to recent Telford Spa for the same amount with 3 course no comparison
Service poor at bar, very slow
Treatment mediocre

Had my wife,s wake recently and me and my family could not have asked for more....it was brilliant.
The Staff were excellent and the buffet was superb, the presentation and selection of food was first class and had lots of compliments from all of the guest's.
It was truly a send off we wanted for my wife (Mom).

A dreadful spa experience – this is not a spa.

On arrival, we were given threadbare robes and then discovered that the steam room wasn’t working. We were never informed of this when booking over the phone or upon arrival, despite it being a key facility.

The sauna is tiny and was constantly overcrowded, making it impossible to use. There were also nowhere near enough loungers for guests.

From around 3pm onwards, the pool area was invaded by screaming children from the hotel, completely destroying any chance of relaxation. Again, this was never mentioned when we booked.

Our afternoon tea consisted of a dry piece of cake served in a room that felt more like a 1970s staff canteen than a spa lounge.

The whole experience was a comedy of errors. To make matters worse, I emailed the manager afterwards and received an ignorant response, with no meaningful attempt to resolve the complaint or offer compensation.

Avoid this spa experience like the plague.

Massage - Regrettably, both treatments were highly disappointing. The therapist assigned displayed unprofessional behaviour, including noticeable body odour, burping, and yawning during the treatment. Friends massage was equally concerning, as she has since experienced back pain, despite regularly receiving massages every four weeks without any prior issues.

Spa - Inadequate. The space was overcrowded, with very limited seating available, leaving us with no option but to stand in the pool area.

Meal - £38 dinner allowance applied solely to food. While we understand that alcohol may not be included, it would have been reasonable to allow this allowance to cover soft drinks. To top everything off meals were provided with no condiments as stated on the menu. Yes this was fixed but the price you pay you shouldn’t have to ask.

Patronising response offering spa treatments and discount on stay! No thanks.

Don’t waste your money

The 2 stars is a reflection on the bedrooms, they are extremely dated and tired. For £184 for 1 night, it is so far off what you expect at that price range. A Premier Inn is far cheaper and with a much higher standard. The food was good and the staff were very professional and friendly. I would not stay here again

We took our Friends away for the weekend to Moore Hall to watch the George Michael tribute act, the whole experience was outstanding. The staff were superb, to go to a hotel where the staff enjoy their jobs came across in bucketloads. to see the staff enjoying themselves as much as we were when watching the George Michael act was just so lovely to see. The staff are a credit to the hotel and we will definitely be visiting again. We were really impressed and one of the best hotels we’ve ever gone to.

I was lucky enough to have been gifted a couple of spa treatments 1st one was done by Winnie, had the driftaway. My massage was absolutely fantastic I felt amazing afterwards.
2nd one was performed by Shannon a new therapist, I had a facial champagne and truffles. My skin was absolutely pure, felt like velvet.

Staff were all excellent.

I booked an overnight stay for me and my friend for a birthday celebration. Spa treatments were booked separately, so I called and confirmed with staff In advance for peace of mind before arrival. Everything was confirmed, as I was told everything was fine.

Only to be notified, by being called three hours before check in time that our spa treatments had been cancelled. Staff member did apologise, but it didn’t sound genuine.

I did base the overnight stay on knowing that we’d have treatments later on in the evening. This was really disappointing, but understanding we still had a night stay and the spa facilities to use.

The spa facilities includes a pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam-room. We were surprised of the size of pool and both sauna and steam room. I’d say to be comfortable, 4 people max in each room at a given time. Considering it had been a fairly busy day, and only 12 lounge beds available. This had made us feel a bit more deflated after cancellation, and having to search for somewhere to finally sit.

On top of that there are children jumping in the pool and splashing around as they do, but our idea of a “spa” is to feel relaxed. I wouldn’t say we felt that way. Luckily we came prepared and bought books to read and sit by the pool to kill time. Being splashed on was an annoyance, whilst holding paper books.

We did use the sauna and steam room, but we felt like a tin of sardines. The Jacuzzi was nice enough. I think we had an expectation from visiting other Spa hotels, that cold refreshments would be included like fruit water, coffee and tea selections within the spa area. There isn’t, which is a shame.

There is a bar and restaurant that is within the hotel itself, which we visited. We ordered food from the lounge, we enjoyed our lunch and staff were kind.

Our room which we stayed over in was nice enough. I was offered a full refund for the spa treatment cancellation, which was fine.

Avoid! Booked in for a treatment for my birthday and they cancelled it with few hours notice. We had already paid for the treatment and travelled to the spa. The receptionist on the phone was unapologetic, nothing was offered to us as a compensate. Completely unacceptable for the price you pay. Do not recommend at all.

Lovely overnight stay and spa treatments at Moor Hall this weekend for my partners birthday. Mark and his friendly team made our stay extra special with their lovely food and excellent customer service.

I only wish I could give it zero stars. Avoid this hotel at all costs and go to the Belfry. Dirty bed sheets, dirty spa with kids running freely, inedible food, no tables available for breakfast…. you complain at the hotel and they promise it will be looked into…. lies they reply and state that its normal for breakfast to be busy and its also normal the spa is overrun with children. I cant tell you how bad this hotel is. Awful senior management take your money and run! This hotel is no better than a 2 star

Went for a half day spa this week and was really looking forward to a relaxing day and some pampering as Moor Hall has a reputation for being luxurious and my work in healthcare is exhausting. I'm sorry but this was not good at all. The pool was tiny, about 10-12m long, with lots of young children screaming and bombing, not enough room for adults to swim and no staff in pool area. Tiny sauna and steam room, only 3 cubicles in the changing room. It wasn't relaxing at all. I have a better experience of swimming at my local council pool. On the plus side the treatment I had was lovely and the coffee was nice, but overall I was just so disappointed, especially having looked forward to it so much. In terms of value for money when compared to other local spas and their facilities and prices, it just isn't worth it in my opinion. I won't be going back or recommending it.

Really enjoyed this Winter Warmer spa day, at Moor Hall, what I was most impressed by more than anything was the Gluten Free chocolate cake give to everyone with the Baileys hot chocolate, when the girl bought it to us, I was completely expecting it to be wheat based, but she confirmed it wasn't ( I didnt even know there was cake involved) and absolutely delicious!

Visited Moor Hall for the day for a work meeting. Arranged it very last minute and Heather was very helpful in arranging for us to use the snug at a reduced price. Good location for an informal work meeting and friendly staff. Food (lunch) was good - was a little slow from point of order but they had a wake in and were busy so it was understandable and they were apologetic. Overall good spot for what we needed and will now look at using them for a more substantial management meeting in the future.

Booked a 3 day festive break 24 to 27 Dec.as a surprise for my wife. Moor Hall was built for my wife's Cousin x3 Edward Ansell of the Ansell's Brewery. She had never been before and I thought it would be nice as a surprise as we are both in our 80's. First thing was the sink in the bathroom was blocked and had to be attended to. Also as there was only a bath there was NO handle i=on the wall. NOT elderly or disabled friendly. When we went for dinner we were informed that the " package " only allowed us £40.00 for the meal This after we had paid over £1000.00 for the festive treat. Christmas Lunch was an experience I will not forget. There were NO table cloths two crackers and eventually when we asked for drinks we were told that included in the "package" we were entitled to a glass of prosecco WOW. We had half a glass of probably Aldi prosecco. The Christmas LUNCH was a DIY job carvery. I did not spend that much money to have a carvery. We can have a carvery any day of the week. The atmosphere was akin to an undertakers parlour . I have complained but got condescending reply. What should have been a happy experience for us turned out to be a memory to forget

Visited the health spa as my partner she had booked it in for me as a christmas gift and also an overnight stay with evening meal and breakfast in the morning,abbey who did my massage was very professional and did a fantastic job,highly recommended visit if your staying here 5*

Fantastic overnight stay. Staff very attentive. Gym great. Dinner in the Oak Brasserie was gorgeous. Breakfast great. Nothing not to like. Will definitely revisit. Thank you!

I booked the catch up and spa for myself and a friend for special birthday treat . The spa facility was good & clean the place is nice - but I was very disappointed with the facial I chose for my treatment. It felt very rushed and regimented. The £75 voucher stated a 25minute treatment,I was in and out in 20 minutes. I didn’t feel it was a relaxing experience and the girl was quite rough especially around the eye area.
I would not book again if I’m honest .

It would be easier to say what went right....nothing!!!
Room was dark n dinghy, bathroom was no bigger than a cupboard.
£90 for a massage so didnt bother, had to book a slot for swimming pool. Towels were on all loungers, so unable to get one, pool was loud and busy... so never got to use it dispite booking our slot. Sauna fits 4 people only. They do not provide footwear had to wear my robe with trainers.
We called the day before to book a dinner reservation to be told they're full.
I've never been to such an awful spa.
We ordered a tea with scone offer... tea was drank by the time the scones arrived.

Avoid where possible, its definately not relaxing. Struggling to see what we have paid for..
