Needed to make afew phone calls to ask
Some questions over the course of waiting for the car to be ready and they were amazing at making us feel at ease and answering any questions we had. Loved our experience here and would recommend to family and friends.

Not to pushy left us alone so we could look at the car,but just near enough when we required assistance.
They did what they said and got my car ready in super fast time just before Christmas.
Everything was smooth sailing no complications.

Exceptional service

I purchased a second hand car from North West Autos, the service I received was excellent.
My car was in the middle of the showroom, however every effort was made (including MOT) for me to drive it home the same day.
My car had only one key but arrangements were made for another key to be made at my home.
Thankyou Reece for an exceptional service, I will definitely recommend.
I hope you all have a lovely Christmas

Based on my experience I would avoid NWA at all costs.

On the 3/12/25 I left a deposit for an Audi Q3, I test drove this vehicle on 5/12/25. After test driving the vehicle it was obvious that the vehicle was faulty and not fit for purpose. During inspection and test driving, the automatic gearbox was slipping. Both my parents have previously dealt in cars and have extensive experience and mechanical knowledge. My mother also test drove the car. At the time I raised the issue of the slipping gearbox, the salesman who accompanied us on the test drive also agreed that there was a noticeable delay in transmission. Reece agreed that this would looked into properly however I informed the garage in person on Monday 8th Decemeber that I did not wish to proceed with the vehicle. At that point, no work had been carried out on the vehicle.

Reece told me that I had to test drive the vehicle again once the gearbox had been looked at or I would not receive my deposit back.

I was later advised that the issue had been “fixed”; however, Reece confirmed that the vehicle had only received an oil change and had been connected to a diagnostic computer however he was unable to provide a diagnostic report. A gearbox issue cannot be properly diagnosed or repaired without dismantling the gearbox. What was carried out appears to have been a process of elimination in the hope that the fault would be temporarily resolved or masked. I also consulted multiple independent mechanics, all of whom advised against purchasing the vehicle due to the slipping gearbox and the likelihood that an oil change would only mask an issue that was already there.

I again informed North West Autos that I would not be purchasing the vehicle. Reece then proceeded to tell me that by law north west autos were able to charge any costs of making the vehicle right and fit for purpose to myself, regardless of the fact I had already informed them I did not wish to purchase the vehicle prior to any work being carried out. This raised concerns for me about whether these issues would have been identified for future buyers had I not informed north west autos of the issues with the gearbox, the cosmetic damage on the door sill, (which was not shown on pictures or during inspection) and the rear tyres which were under the legal limit the car would have been sold as it was (in my opinion not fit for purpose).

I have called north west autos today to chase an update on the refund of my deposit (bearing in mind I informed them on the 8th December that I would not be purchasing the car which has given them 10 working days) I was advised this was with Paige in the after sales team and asked to be patient whilst they investigate. I asked to speak to Paige which Reece informed Paige would only communicate via email, regardless of the fact that all of their calls are recorded.

Upon telling Reece that I would be leaving a review and terminating the call he left the below voicemail, what I believe to be of a threatening nature:

“I will advise you you’re not the first and certainly won’t be the last to say you’re going to do that and you will not be the first we will counter Sue for defamation” In my opinion, this statement suggest that many people have previously had issues with North West Autos.

If you choose to purchase a car from North West Autos I highly recommend you purchase an AA comprehensive pre-purchase vehicle inspection and diagnostics.

I would also encourage prospective customers to review North West Autos’ responses to one-star reviews, as these interactions reflect how customer issues are handled once a sale has been completed. In my opinion, this approach lacks professionalism.

Car had issues on drive home from the garage, we queried clutch on test drive and was told all was fine by the workshop. Have incurred almost £2k in repairs which NWA refuse to cover. Car should not have been sold with these issues and now seeking legal action.
After sales insisted we return the car to be repaired but lost all faith in the workshop and live over 200 miles away so was not feasible to take to NWA as car was not drivable and trust was lost also. NWA refused to recover the car also. Warranty won’t cover repairs either

DONT BUY FROM NORTH WEST AUTOS

DONT BUY FROM NORTH WEST AUTOS
PLEASE READ TILL THE END.

We found a vehicle in the Autotrader (Vauxhall Mokka) from North West Autos in BLACKBURN, we spoke with NWA on the 31/08/25 and subsequently paid a holding deposit of £199.00. NWA said that they needed 7 days to prepare the vehicle.

We arrived at NWA on 06.09.25 and was assured if anything went wrong with the vehicle all we had to do was deliver it back to them and they would repair it.

Whilst in the vehicle I noticed the windscreen was not clean, we went to a petrol station and purchased some windscreen cleaner which had no affect. It was difficult to drive due to the lack of visibility but we continued our journey and felt that we could resolve this matter back home. One strange issue which I shall take up with the relevant authorities and the garage which issued the MOT was that the MOT had only been approved a number of days before, after speaking with my garage which services 8 of my vans and taking the vehicle to them, they said that an MOT should not have been issued. I will update you more once at a later stage.

My wife was driving back from work on Sunday 21st September when she heard an exploding sound and then a loud continuous rattling noice. It seems that each time she put the clutch down the noise got worse. The following day her son took two videos of the car with the engine running and it was very clear that there was a problem and called NWA to inform them of the problem. One of the sales persons asked if I (Mateo/Me) would call to discuss the situation. I called him and was told "JUST GET THE VEHICLE TO US AND WE WILL FIX IT", please bear in mind that we live in Devon. My wife called me and I told her to take the vehicle to my mechanics, they carried out a number of checks, test drive and put the vehicle on the ramp and came to the conclusion that the problem was related to the clutch/fly wheel and gearbox (at this point I prefer not to go into detail as this matter WILL become a legal issue and would not want to give too much away, we can do that in the courts). My mechanics who are also MOT registered and have a very good reputation have issued a detailed report on the problems.

During the next few days I was intouch with NWA a number of times during the coming days and the great NWA customer service response was "Yes, get it to us and we will fix it", however; on the day that I spoke with NWA and confirmed that the vehicle would be with them in the next couple of days, the comment changed from , "Yes, get it to us and we will fix it" to "Yes, get it to us and we will take a look". Did NWA think because we was so far away (291 miles) that we would not deliver the vehicle to them.

On Saturday 27th September 2025, we called the AA where we have national breakdown cover, who came and confirmed that the vehicle was not driveable (they confirmed a number of other failures, but not going to put them down on here, as we are going to court to get our money back from these people). I have a report from the AA as well.

The vehicle was delivered to NWA on Monday 29th September 2025 and NWA confirmed in a whatsapp message same. I received a message on whats app confirming that the vehicle would be going for a diagnostic on Wednesday 1st October 2025 and could I send an email address so they could send their findings (very professional up to now but it soon stops).

Although there was a couple of phone conversations I was basically told to leave them alone so they could get on with the diagnostics. On Wednesday 8th October 2025 I received an email from NWA telling me that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle based on their diagnostics. They gave me two options (1) replace the faulty items and they will charge us the trade price for the items and NWA will cover the labour or (2) collect the vehicle from Friday 10th October 2025 by 4pm to avoid storage charges. If there was nothing wrong with the vehicle (which my mechanic and the AA have said otherwise) what was to be replaced because NWA said there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.

I then had a discussion with a representative of NWA who said that they could offer a buy back of the vehicle but they would have to deduct £0.75 per mile and apparently my wife had done 790 miles which they would deduct the sum of £592.50 from the $4000 paid. HMRC approved buy back mileage is £0.45 per mile and lawyers who I have spoken with state that it is usually acceptable to agree on £0.25 per mile. We asked if this amount could be reduced and was refused.

From the 8th October to 17th October there was a number of emails but nothing of any importance, basically me asking if their management had made a decision to buy back the vehicle. A represenative of NWA confirmed to me on 17/10/25 that they would buy back the vehicle at £0.75 per mile. On the 18th October we accepted, from the 18th Octoiber to 25th October no response from NWA.

Good morning,
We understand your frustration however would really like you to be fair here, we have carried out a full inspection on your car and found no faults present, we have even got 2 independent inspections done that have proven the same assessment's.
You have purchased an old, high mileage diesel and it has the characteristics to match, its in line with current legislation regarding merchantable quality, fit for purpose and as described.
We have also tried to buy it back, less for usage as the CRA 2015 allows us, but that's not good enough for you.
Please contact Paige and she will try once again to resolve the matter for you as the courts rely on tangible evidence, proof and independent inspections, all of which we have now got.

Laughable experience… use caution when buying with these!

I had arranged with them on WhatsApp to come and look at a 2015 Toyota Aygo as it had a good MOT history. I had agreed to test drive it and negotiate on a price because I was told in a message “there’s always a little bit [of willingness to negotiate]”. I preferably wanted the car for slightly less than the asking price due to its mileage. I travelled over to Blackburn from Middlesbrough to see the car and on arrival I entered the office and was greeted by friendly staff.

I explained why I was there and I was shown to the car which was situated at the back of the showroom, parked behind 3 other cars. I was told I could not test drive it, unlike what was agreed prior. The car had obviously been sitting there for a while as it had to be jump started.

I was then left with the key to the car to look at it and noticed scratches which were not highlighted on the photos online. The car was visibly collecting dust which I could wipe away with my finger. I could not look at or in the boot as the car had been parked right up against the wall. As I was left on my own, I could not immediately ask about them or any further questions about the car and it certainly felt like the staff were always busy with something else. At this point my valuation of the car had changed, and I was not going to pay more than £3750 for it.

When I had finished my inspection, the staff were helpful with answering most of my questions about the car, warranties and delivery costs however when it came to negotiating a price they concluded that the online price of £4500 was the price set because I was “already getting a good deal”.

The staff then tried to belittle me with sales tactics stating that an MOT and service costs £500. They repeatedly stated that they would not even bother to phone their boss with an offer because they would not budge. They stated that my bank balance only held £4000 and that they would not sell me the car even though I have much more and just wanted to negotiate. My opinion is that if they wanted to sell the car for £4500, then they should’ve taken better care of it, as I would’ve paid had the car been in a better condition.

The only thing I think they couldn’t budge is the car (due to the clear lack of care and attention as it still had a £4900 price in the window - I assume further evidence that they were finding it hard to get rid of it). So I’m very surprised they didn’t negotiate and played hard ball even when I offered more fair amounts. Whilst I appreciate that they are a business and have money to make, when negotiation is promised, it makes you wonder what other things they were promising that wouldn’t have happened if I had bought the car.

I am very happy that on the train back I came across one that is closer to Middlesbrough and much less miles on and better value but I hope they manage to sell the car!

So to conclude, I was promised a test drive and a negotiation and I got neither of these whilst having to endure a bleak and miserable day in Blackburn. I am now going to look at a more expensive car this week with less miles, hoping it is in a better condition. Any chance I can have the train fare back please?

(Edit after their response: The response lacks a lot of truth as I only asked about a test drive on arrival as this was what was promised. After considering that the car was sat there for a few months I chose not to push the matter as I considered that the car may have been unsafe and the brakes may have seized up. However the one thing you have proven is true is the fact you insisted that for some reason I had only £4000 in my bank, and tried to humiliate me, whereas if you had listened to my concerns about the car, I was willing to pay for the car had it been in the condition I had expected it to be and the reason I was negotiating is because the standard of the car was not up to the value I expected from a competent dealership. I am now looking at other cars which have varying values but I can confirm that my budget can be well over £4000 if I find the right car to buy)

Good afternoon and thank you for sharing your experience,
We are a little bit confused, when you initially contacted us yes we mentioned there was a “little bit of negotiating”, when you arrived you were shown the vehicle and left to inspect the car, it is standard practice for any garage to qualify the customer prior to a test drive, you mentioned that you had a maximum budget of £4000 and the vehicle was priced at £4500, at £4500 its was almost £500 behind market value and we told you that we could not sell the vehicle to you for the maximum spend that you had as we would be loosing money, you insisted on a test drive and Reece the Sales Controller explained to you that it would take us a lot of time to move that part of the showroom to get the vehicle out that you could not afford, he advised you to look at vehicles that were within your financial parameters and left you to scan the website.
We hope you purchased the other car and wish you all the best for the future.

Positive experience

When viewing the car I was given plenty of time to check it out alone. Throughout the test drive and purchase there was no hard selling which I have experienced before in other places. Met a few members of the team all very polite, professional and friendly. Mainly dealt with Reece who was very nice and helpful. Happy with the services they do on the car before collection. Makes you feel they want to make sure everything is 100% okay with the car before pick up. Very pleased with my experience today.

We bought a secondhand car recently from North West Auto Blackburn and are pleased overall. There was a short delay in collecting the vehicle due to the clutch needing renewal, which was a little inconvenient, but the dealership made sure the work was carried out before handing it over. In the end, we appreciated that the issue was resolved properly.
