The reception staff have been helpful and the swimming facilities have been fine, particularly when visiting with my daughter.

However, the gym itself is disappointing. Equipment is poorly maintained (including rusted cables), cleanliness standards are low, and the free weights area feels overcrowded and unsafe at times.

The sauna is frequently not ready at the advertised morning opening time, and the steam room is often out of order, which makes the space even more cramped.

I’ve also experienced ongoing issues with the app and online booking system attempting to charge me incorrectly due to an account error.

I have raised these concerns directly with staff, but little has changed. Given the recent increase in membership fees, the overall experience does not currently represent good value.

I hope these issues can be addressed, as the centre has the potential to provide a much better overall experience.

The variety of classes and the professionalism and standard of the instructors on the class timetable are excellent. I have been to other clubs previously including private clubs and I was surprised and continue to be really pleased with my Excel teachers and classes.

Lovely centre with a wonderful team. Good range of facilities and classes on offer including virtual spin.

Online timetable never seems to be updated eg checked this morning before going for just swim, all seemed fine, got there to find out half term kids session! Not amused. Especially when told it gad been updated. Well I am looking at it on my laptop now and it has not! 0930-103 just swim it says! Under more info says "an open bookable session for those who want to have fun....you can arrive or leave at any time! Nothing about half term kids session only!!! Thus sort of thing going on for years, sort your act out! At least 3 other ladies turned up while I was at counter to find same problem!

Ease of use online

I was very worried about going to a swimming pool leisure centre. This centre is a high-quality staff were polite and made me very welcome. I am a 68 years of age with disabilities and they helped tremendously and satisfied me to join spent three hours there and was happy and felt good when I come away recommend them to anyone and I don’t live too far away. I did not know about this centre.

Pros
Lovely gym. Great range of equipment in the main since they did a refurb. More equipment now, so less waiting for it. Staff are wonderful, helpful and encouraging. Other members are nice and non-judgy.
Cons
The sauna ,and steam room are often too cold. At least once or twice a week. This seems to stem from either them not being turned on promptly in the morning, or because they are turned off in the middle of the day, and then take a while to get up to temp again. Given that there are no other saunas and steam rooms in the area I would expect better. In their inate wisdom Wiltshire Council closeds lots of steam and sauna facilitties, leading to even more isssues. Membership cost has also risen this year, so I would expect better service.
No padlock lockers available in the swim area changing rooms.
No single sex changing rooms for swimming unless group change is available.
No EGym equipment after the refurbishment. I've used this at other Places Leisure sites and I am disappointed it is not here.
Overall
I still chose to join this leisure centre for another year. I did look at Norton Park Hotel, same cost, nicer experience, but their gym is tiny, so this one won for that reason only.

Always a pleasure to attend Blyth Placesleisure.
Great staff who are all knowledgeable. It's a clean well-equipped Centre.

Polite and courteous reception

Dirty enviroment, bordering on disgusting in places (Sauna is dirty, softplace is dusty and dirty)

Evry time i go the pool is occupied for some activities. Things like that really puts you off swimming.

Lovely pool and gym facilities at Bulmersh Leisure Centre. Staff are friendly and helpful. Especially Owen who was great, encouraging me on my return to regular exercise.

Teaching pool has been closed for months - to say that you're aware of and dealing with it is not good enough.

My son had adhd and gets very excited the staff treat him fairly and are very understanding also my niece had lessons and loves them and has been showing us her improvement

The organiser Keith is friendly and professional and very welcoming

Nothing works…..ever! A gym without showers. A pool area with a hot tub out of service, along with the steam room. It’s a shame

So dissaponted the pool has been out of action for so long and expected to be so for several more months

My Swimming Experience was great as always BUT why, why do you recently change the coin locker system, which I have successfully used here and several other places over the past Decades, to a Padlock system that requires customer provision of a Padlock and the memory of its code???.
I work in engineering and have a wise saying 'If it works, dont fix it'
