Quality issue resolved quickly and fairly
We recently had 1,500 A5, 64-page catalogues printed by Route 1 Print for a client. Unfortunately, on the centre spread the top staple had pulled through on all copies, which understandably left the client unhappy.
I contacted Route 1 Print and spoke with Elina Jakobsone, who handled the issue very professionally. Route 1 Print agreed to issue a £250 credit, reprint 500 catalogues, and collect 500 of the damaged ones from the client (as 1,000 had already been sent out).
All of this was arranged and completed very quickly. The reprints arrived promptly, the collection was smooth, and most importantly, the client was happy with the outcome.
Mistakes can happen, but what matters is how smoothly they’re resolved — and in this case, Route 1 Print handled it well.

Starting 2026 with a little less shine
Generally speaking I've been pretty happy with Route 1. The last order was dispatched quickly and printed on quality stock at a competitive price. But the shine was taken off by the fact that the top and bottom of each bundle of prints were quite dirty. It's no big deal as they were for my own use, but I'd have been embarrassed if they'd been going to a client. Whether it's the guillotine or the packing bench needs a good wipe down, or the packer needs a new pair of gloves, I'm not sure!
(While I'm in carping - sorry, feedback - mode, the paper tape used to pack boxes is reinforced only along the length of the tape and had split on a couple of the boxes.)
It wouldn't stop me ordering again, but it just feels like a little more care is needed.

Thank you for your honest feedback. I’m really glad to hear that the print quality and turnaround hit the mark, but I’m genuinely sorry that the finish was let down by those marks on the bundles.
You’re absolutely right; whether it’s for your own use or a client's, you should be able to unbox your print with total confidence. I’ve raised this directly with our Finishing and Packing teams today. We’ll be investigating the cause, whether it's debris from the guillotine bed or a need for more frequent glove changes during the packing process, to ensure this doesn't happen again.
Regarding the tape, thank you for flagging that. We switched to paper tape to be more eco-friendly, but it clearly needs to stand up to the weight of the boxes. I’ll be passing your comments to our Dispatch Team to review the durability of the reinforced tape we’re currently using.
We really appreciate you sticking with us, and I’ll make sure extra care is taken with your next order to get that 'shine' back!

Problem with artwork file resolved quickly by Bex . . .
I've used Route1 for many years now and they are always reliable and very quick to respond to queries. In all that time there have only been a couple of occasions where the job has gone back to production due to artwork errors etc (sometimes on my part) and I have, at all times, found the team very efficient and helpful.

Amazing People
I have been associated as a trader for the past twelve years. From print quality to delivery, these people stay connected with their customers; I have never had a complaint against them. Yes, only three times printing orders were not delivered on time. Earlier you would get a ten-pound voucher for the delay, but now all you get is an apology.
One more unusual thing about this company is that it charges VAT on A3-size flyers and laminated flyers, even though flyers are a VAT-exempt product — whether laminated or A3 size. Except for Root One, no other company charges VAT on these. They should consider this and stop charging VAT because small business owners like me cannot claim VAT refunds.
Other than that, Root One surprises me with its pricing, service quality, and very quick turnaround. I can even name it: compared to Solopress, Root One offers much better price and service.
I would recommend everyone try Root One at least once. 🙂

I hear you regarding the service recovery for delays. While we’ve moved toward more direct apologies and proactive upgrades to get jobs back on track, we truly value your feedback on how that impact feels on your end as a small business owner.
Regarding your point on VAT, I completely understand how frustrating it is when you can't reclaim it. At Route 1 Print, we follow the HMRC VAT Notice 701/10, which classifies flyers as standard-rated (20%) if they are larger than A4, or have a lamination/coating that makes them "durable." Because A3 flyers and laminated items are designed to last rather than be thrown away, they don't meet the HMRC 'zero-rated' criteria.
We really appreciate your recommendation and your long-term support. We’ll keep working hard to make sure those next orders are spot on and delivered right on time! 🙂
