Scot Plants Direct Avis 

We are delighted with our delivery of yew hedge plants! They were very well packaged and communication for delivery was very good. To plant 30+ plants is quite a daunting task but we felt excited about our beautiful new plants - perfectly strong, healthy and straight - and we managed to get them planted out today. The root balls were quite large so we were digging for hours :) … We received instructions with the delivery but adjusted the spacing to our requirements. Would recommend this company and not hesitate to order again. Good value for money.

I order one plant and received a box full of mud,a crushed plant, and a muddy plant pot. Some blame naturally goes on the delivery company. However, the plant was poorly packaged and no response from their customer service after complaining and sending photos.

Delivery took weeks and I had to chase on multiple occasions. When it finally arrived. 3 of the barefoot plants I ordered were in a bad state and didn’t recover. I emailed the team and they asked me to wait 4 months to see if they were in fact alive. Sadly they didn’t recover. After a few emails back and forth, ScotsPlants have agreed to replace the plants like for like which means I need to wait 5 more months until they’re in season again.

I ordered 15 "Japanese Holly 60/90cm 5L Pot Grown (Ilex Crenata)" on 13th June 2025.
When they came they where in 3L pots and where 45cm.

I phoned on 25th June and the person I spoke to agreed to refund the difference between the plants I ordered and the size down they delivered.

Today, 3rd Aug 2025, they still have not issued this refund. I've contacted them again to chase it up. If they do refund I'll update this review but right now I'd give them -1 if I could... Avoid!

Scot Plants Direct have now issued the refund. I am impressed by the responsiveness when I chased it up. Review upgraded to 3 star as the plants (though smaller) are good quality, 2 stars dedicated for the slow refund.

ordered 10 raspberries canes only delivered 9, ok, so of the 9 only 4 have grown, not at all impressed. To my knowledge the area has never grown soft fruit before.

No idea why there are such low reviews, albeit only a few but these guys were fantastic. They also Glenmore Direct too. Went online and was reticent because of reviews but the prices were so good so I thought I’d see if they answered the phone which they did immediately. I had a price on their website for £147 for 60 x Japanese Holly and on the phone he gave me another £20 off of that which was great and that included shipping. That was yesterday and from Scotland they overnighted 40kg of plants and they arrived exactly when the tracking said, less than 24 hours later. They were boxed beautifully (look on Google maps for pictures). The plants look healthy and I honestly couldn’t be more pleased. Brilliant!

So I buy a lot of plants online and was almost put off by some of the reviews but they had some blueberry plants in a combination I couldn't find anywhere else, so I gave them a shot. I immediately had an order confirmation, the following day a confirmation the order was being dealt with. I decided to follow up 4 days later, had a quick response plus a message from the courier. A solid box without even a dent, the best packaged plants I've ever seen (and I've seen a lot!), all healthy good sized plants - ok, so a couple of immature berries got knocked off but that's hardly a shocker. Would use again any day.

I have purchased hedge plants on a number of occasions and found the advice from Saffron on type of plants, size etc. to be invaluable also very competitive price. Earlier this year some of the hedge plants died, probably due to to lack of rain, so I contacted Barney at Scotplants who could not have been more helpful. Plants were replaced with the minimum of fuss, arrived on time and excellent quality. Top service in my book and will be buying from Scotplants for all my future requirements.

Have ordered a couple of times from Scot Plants Direct and both times have been kept up to date with delivery times. Good advice as to how to look after the plants and when there was a problem it was sorted with no fuss and made me feel like a valued customer.

I had phoned to ensure that they would not arrive when I was away. They came within 30 minutes of our return - it was quite spooky!

I ordered a yew tree plant on this website. It took nearly a month to arrive, after chasing by emails. The quality of the plant is just terrible, completely different from the pictures on the website. Unfortunately I threw away the package box, otherwise I would have returned the plant to them. It is totally waste of money. Avoid this company at all costs.

I bought six glen ample bare root raspberry canes for my newly constructed and prepared bed - three have grown but three just looked like dead sticks and did nothing. Foolishly I ordered another three - and these have done nothing at all; I’ve since replaced them with potted plants I bought at a local garden centre.

I ordered £1000.00 of lawn turf with £250 of delivery charge. (Accepted because of our location) They took my order and money then a few days later canceled the order. No explanation. I emailed to ask why and have not had the curtesy of a reply. Hence the orders for 100s of bare root trees this autumn will be going elsewhere.

I bought the raspberry lot of 40 bare rooted plants last year and planted them right away using the gel growing compound advised by Scot Plants. It is now the new year, April coming on May and over half of the plants have either died completely breaking off at ground level or there is no sign of life in them. I have contacted Scot Plants twice to advise them and ask what might be done to remedy this disappointment but have NOT received any replies to my emails. I quoted the order number and date with the reference purchase code so it should be easy enough to locate my initial order. I am now forced to replace these failed raspberry canes and try and move forward having 'wasted my time' using Scot Plants. To be fair some, less than half are showing some green leaves but overall I have wasted money and the delay has cost me time, at 70 time is something in short supply!
I see Scot Plants reply they have uplifted in reply, JUST to be clear, scot plants suggest a refund and informed me they would make a full refund, that said UNFORTUNATELY scot plants have NOT followed this thru and I at Scot Plants request sent my bank details for the refund and as I say here NO REFUND has been made! I continue to confirm Scot Plants make alot of 'noise' saying they will make a refuind then Scot plants do not make the refund, rather they just JISTICULATE suggesting they have made contact/a refund/ or contact, all of which is UNTRUE, not a lie but UNTRUE, so Scot plants still as others have reported not a good supplier of plants especially when they FAIL. I expect If I was MONTY DON a full refund would be made but as an 'ordinary' buyer Scot Plants simply do not 'give a toss' . I suggest any prospective buyer avoids 'Scot plants'.

I spent £129 and they sent me the wrong hedge plants. They were tiny so it has taken 18months for me to realise they are not a hedging plant- confirmed by an expert gardener. The company refuses to reimburse me or send me the correct plants and I even offered to dig up the wrong plants and send them back. they are disgraceful and I will pass this info to fellow gardeners.

if I could give 0 stars I would. Had to chase delivery. Delivery when it came incomplete. Some of the Plants delivered were disappointing based on other similar products purchased elsewhere. Issue is still not resolved. AVOID.

Was looking for a birch tree, and couldn't find any nurseries in Central Scotland that stocked any, so decided to mail-order one. Used Scot Plants Direct as I supposed they were going to be closer than most others. Paid £43 for what was described as a bare root tree minimum of 150cm. The website showed an example of a multi-branched young tree, so I wasn't expecting anything large or mature. What I got was basically a stick (single stalk) with some roots. Honestly it's thinner than the bamboo cane that I've used to stake it. Feels like I've been taken for a ride with the price I paid, and what they suggested I was getting on their website. I did feed this back to them, via their website, but I guess they don't care as they didn't reply. My advice for anyone thinking about ordering from this website is to find out EXACTLY what they're offering to send you; don't just think that their website is at all accurate. Then shop around for somewhere with a bit more honesty.

Plants ordered from Scotplants months ago although I accept with seasonal fruits that they have to be taken out of the ground at the right time. Problem is I received an email telling me they had shipped with an expected delivery date, plants did not arrive. Very unreliable and don’t respond to emails so also very unprofessional. This order was a test to see if we could rely on them to deliver but turns out they are not. Will not be using them again.

Super communication and good plants with keen prices
Not open weekends but my order was left for me to pick up as i was passing that way on my way home to the sticks. They also replaced 2 packs of rootgrow that had been removed from transit boxes on my first order.
Will be my go to place for plants from now on.
