I have ordered bulk bag of white gravel…

I have ordered bulk bag of white gravel before Easter , delivery date was on the 10th of April( yesterday)
I have contacted two depots York and Kent , I was assured that they will delivered today the 11th of April, nothing happened .
Nobody is answering the phone in Kent depot ( where my order suppoused to be) .
I contacted the York depot, but someone told me that they could not contact the depot in Kent.
I wasted two day waiting for delivery from this company.
I tracked the parcel again this morning and there was no any update, that is scheduled for delivery, ladt update was from 9th of April ,that the pallette is in Kent depot.
I was assured yesterday , and the person confirmed verbally today delivery.
I can understand delays if I am inform about it, but giving misleading information is below any standards of customer service.
Very disappointing.

Excellent experience throughout

Excellent experience throughout. I was concerned because my gravel driveway has a slight incline; however, the customer services lady forwarded our photos to the carrier and got their OK to leave the bags on the pavement before taking my order. The carrier provided a map of where the delivery truck was and I had a 20 minute pre-delivery phone call. The pebbles arrived on time and without any hassle. They are absolutely beautiful. I am so glad that I used this company and can highly recommend them.

Very happy with my purchase!!! And customer service.

I ordered the x3 Cotswold 20mm Large Bulk Bag to replace the existing gravel at the front of my house, and I am extremely happy with my purchase. The quality of the stones is excellent, and the overall customer service was very good. My questions were answered promptly, and it was a pleasant surprise to have someone answer the telephone after just three rings, a rare luxury these days. The gravel was delivered on time, exactly as scheduled. I highly recommend this company; both the service and the product quality were outstanding.

Not what I ordered!

I purchased a bulk bag of horticultural sharp sand to spread on my lawn to improve drainage. On the photo on the website it looked like coarse sand.

I spread across the grass and at first I thought good job done. However after about a month my lawn became ruined with many small stones coming to the surface. This was not the product I thought I ordered so I went back to the company with photos to ask what had happened. They checked with quality control and came back saying that I had received the right product, but it sure doesn’t match the product pictures on the website.

For proof I wanted to add photos, but I can’t seem to upload, so it’s difficult to demonstrate. Either way the company isn’t interested!

Great stone - brilliant delivery

I ordered 850kg of the 20mm polar white stone. This is the second time I have ordered from this company and once again the stone looks great. The delivery arrived when it was supposed to and the delivery driver was lovely and put the stone at the end of my driveway.

DO Not Use, Breach of Trading Standards!

Do Not Use This Company, I did not check Reviews, They Breached Trading Standard Laws and Sent me Iteam Not As Discribed or As In Picture. We could easily win in Small Claims Court. They are confused and believe that their Terms and Conditions are Law. Mistake, Trading Standards makes the laws. I am married to a Government Lawyer. ( no argument). I can see that pensioner's and vulnerable people also taking advantage off.
I ordered 850kg of 40mm slate chippings. Was sent rocks, some '130mm' in length, children can not walk on a path with rocks this large and was told this was acceptable and that to collect was a deduction of £60.
This is how they do business.

As advised when dealing with your complaint, all of the materials are quarried naturally and graded at the quarry before receiving the raw material at our site. The bulk bags are then robotically filled & weighed; this isn't done by hand so you may receive some pieces larger if they've fit through the grader on one of the axis'.

Some of the pieces you photographed, the 130mm long piece for example would have been 40mm or less on the width/depth so this would have gone through the grader at the quarry.

On each product page it says "all products are natural/quarried materials so there could be a variation in colouring, size & shape. All sizes shown are estimated". As the correct product was delivered (you were just unhappy with some of the pieces) the standard return charge applied as the haulier charges us to arrange a collection / return goods to our site.

Apologies once again for the inconvenience and that you weren't happy with your order.

We do not thank you for your reply as per our review about the disgraceful service you offered.
Your answer is robotic which suggests you have many negative reviews. And it trios off your tongue or maybe a set reply.

You must grow tired Vicky of providing this answer to your poor customers, but there again you have cleverly gained £120.00. We are elderly pensioners shame on you!!

The most important issue we have is that no one called, we came down the road to a ghost vehicle that rang to say then they were there - but they weren’t ???????very clever way of clawing in money.

Our road is a solid road and we are able to receive large deliveries. Have had many. Palletways have many vehicles and could have delivered this order but your clever terms and conditions do allow you to do this to customers. As bad reviews suggest.

Can I just remind you and anybody reading this we have not yet had the balance of our money.
Total and utter rubbish, he has come on an untarmaced road which isn’t our problem as our road is isn’t untarmaced - obviously wrong location.

Avoid! My parents ordered from this company in good faith. The company employed the services of a delivery company who refused to deliver to my parents address. Their excuse was there were overhanging trees in the lane and they could not get their truck up to make the delivery. Just a few months prior my parents had the most enormous house removals truck move them in to this property without any problem at all. Stone and gravel have been nothing short of disgusting in their handling of this matter and have refused to reimburse my parents for the alleged delivery costs which were £120! In fact to date my parents have had no refund at all and no goods received….. this company has completely stone walled them! They are currently more than £200 out of pocket. Shame on you Stone and garden!

The other delivery they referenced they’d had previously from another company was 1 item at 30kgs so this was able to be delivered on a van; our goods are too heavy for this type of vehicle otherwise we’d have asked the depot to deliver them on the van to get to your house.

As stated in the terms & conditions agreed to at checkout (and also listed on our website throughout the checkout process) for health & safety reasons for you, the driver and the public, it is at the driver’s discretion to deem the delivery point unsuitable for off-loading and are within their rights to refuse to unload any consignments; alternatively, they may suggest off-loading near as possible to the required point where it is safe to do so.

Charges will be incurred if you have unsuitable access, if the delivery cannot take place due to the conditions on the T&Cs then a minimum £50.00 + VAT per pallet return cost will be incurred.

We outsource the deliveries to the Palletways network and from this we cannot make the delivery drivers go to an address if they deem it as unsuitable.

The goods were returned to our site and the refund was processed on 12th June 2023 so we have closed the complaint as no further action is needed.

We do extend our apologies once again on behalf of the delivery depot that they weren’t able to complete delivery.

Be very careful when ordering from this…

Be very careful when ordering from this company their website is loaded with conditions in their favour. If there is any difficulty in delivery to your property not only will they not attempt to deliver but also charge you £60 per item for non delivery. The company Stone and Garden use for deliveries claims to have only 18 tonne trucks. Our road has trees and because of this the driver refuse to attempt delivery. I don’t like saying this but I could not recommend Stone and Garden to anyone it was a very expensive lesson for us we are still waiting for a refund which will be less than their non delivery charge.

This company has swindled my elderly parents - they say they tried to deliver and couldn’t

Delivery trucks for other items haven’t had this issue

They won’t even prove they came to the correct address

Don’t just take my parents experience - Seems to be many bad reviews below

Dreadful Company

We welcome feedback whether it be positive or negative so thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we can't however find details of your order to be able to add the feedback onto our system for reference.

We have tried searching via your name but no results are showing (which is why it's taken us a while to respond as we had requested more contact information from you which had a 3 working day wait time but nothing was received), can you please email us on sales@stoneandgarden.co with either your order number which will start "10008" or your delivery postcode please.

With regards to the delivery point the manual pump truck used by the delivery driver (as this is a tail-lift vehicle used) isn't able to operate on loose/soft ground due to the weight of the bulk bags, they can only be left on a hard/flat surface, this will be why the driver wasn't able to leave any bulk bags in your front garden.

With regards to return fees we charge £50 + VAT per bulk bag as this is the fee charged to us from the haulier, we are keen to locate your details/order so we can look into this as you've said the return fee totaled £150 (which doesn't tally with our £60 per bag).

We were sourcing a light grey decorative chippings, I came across Stone and Garden Company and I ordered what I believed from their pictures and description to be a LIGHT grey stone big Mistake myself and the client agreed it was a Dark grey. I contacted Stone and Garden Company because I refused the stone to be delivered and to be told I will only get half my money as my refund. I shouldn’t have to pay for a service I didn’t want. If the company can Not effectively operate as an online company, I shouldn’t have to pay for there haulage when the company was selling the product as a light grey clearly dark grey. BIG RIP OFF. CLEAR MESSAGE AVOID THIS COMPANY IF YOU WANT A FULL REFUND IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES WITH THERE PRODUCT NOT WORTH THE FINANCIAL RISK.

Good morning Caroline, we are an open company so welcome feedback whether it be positive or in this case negative. Apologies you are not happy with the £60 per bulk bag return fee as set out in our terms & conditions which you agreed to at checkout before placing the order, once the order has been dispatched and left our site the haulier charges us £60 per bulk bag as a return fee so unfortunately this charge has to be passed onto the customer in circumstances where the correct product was dispatched as to what was ordered. Full refunds are given when appropriate (i.e a completely incorrect product has been dispatched in error).
As I tried to advise you on our telephone call that the Dove Grey name is mainly used across many UK aggregate suppliers, and it is a grey chipping which becomes darker when wet (and as the product is naturally quarried there will be an element of dust on the gravel which will make them look darker on 1st appearance). We also have a sample service available where you can purchase a sample of the intended gravel to see the colour, size & shape before buying a full 850kg bulk bag.

Stones mixed in with a load of soil ! What a mess …

I ordered a large bag of grey stones but half way down into the bag was a load of soil and difficult to wash off , we ended up not being able to use them as it was a complete mess . I wouldn’t use this company again as there are cheaper ones .

I have forwarded your email & photos to the quality control team for their feedback as all of the bulk bags are robotically filled & weighed so I'm not sure where the soil has come from, I know all of our products are naturally quarried so an element of product dust can still be on the stones but I've queried the soil in the Dove Grey bag.

Very happy with my purchase and the white stones l ordered were of excellent quality, I'd ordered white stones from a different company previously and were not as good quality as the ones from this company would highly recommend, good service and lovely stones

Satisfaction

The driver telephoned me prior to delivery to say he'd be approx 30 minutes, he arrived 20 minutes later, The driver was very helpful and very pleasant and respectful. I was also very happy with the stones. I would, very happily, use your company again.
