Wonderfully kind volunteers who do an amazing job taking in cats, some who require extensive vet treatment, heal them and let them go to good homes. We couldn’t be more happy with our experience adopting our two kittens. There has been support whenever needed and we thank them for the wonderful work they so selflessly do.

My husband and I recently adopted a lovely young chinchilla Persian boy from Strawberry Rescue to be companion to our beautiful golden oldie female moggie we adopted last July from the RSPCA. Over the past 30 years we have been approved for adoption from 5 different rescues in the US and now the UK where we have lived for some time now. We have found that each rescue has had their own unique ethos, rules, adoption forms and process. Yes, they all seemed exhausting, the process tedious, the length and the questions, but, it is always with the best intentions and to try to get these poor creatures who have often endured terrible things before arriving at said rescue to the home best suited for them and to ensure that the kitties do not suffer further. It is much easier of course to just plonk down money to a breeder and receive a cat or kitten but what these charities do is very important and we personally would only ever do that as a last resort. We are so happy with our dear boy from Strawberry, he is a sweet funny and loving little chap and we are thankful that they stuck with him thru 8 months of painstaking care to make him well enough for us to be able to adopt him when others might have given up on him.

Yes there were delays from when we wrote in our lengthy application, then provided photos and then silence! We weren’t sure we had been approved, so we followed up..... progressed and after a while we concluded this: Strawberry are deeply devoted to the well-being of their cats. And they are working flat-out with a very small team of volunteers, hence the delay in reply. Yes when we picked him up it was in the driveway rather than going inside the house but my understanding is that this is becoming more the norm in the US and UK due to safety issues. We did look at more than a few of the best breeders of several breeds here in the US and the UK before choosing our rescues and many of them no longer allow home visits.

We are very happy with Strawberry Rescue and our experience with them and would certainly adopt from them again in the future.

Well, where do I start. My ex-wife has Huntingtons Disease. One of the symptoms is irrationality and making bad decisions. She made one here alright with these shysters. She made a rash decision to give up her British Blue cat, Casper, due to her health, to these people and instantly regretted it. She contacted them the next day saying she’d made a mistake and wanted him back. They never responded. I contacted them the next day with the same plea as Casper is half mine, they never had the decency to respond. My ex wife’s occupational therapist and mental health nurse contacted them outlining everything she could, they never responded. Now we don’t know where Casper is or who with. My ex-wife is heartbroken. We don’t have addresses, phone numbers nothing. Only an email address that never gets a response. So our Casper is out there somewhere and we have no idea where. So my advice to anyone wanting to use these people is don’t. There are much better more credible places out there. These people treat the disabled and vulnerable like crap. If you have Casper, please look after him and love him like we did.

Thank you to Strawberry for our second, totally wonderful, British Short Hair. These people put in so much love and effort to making sure that the cats are matched to their most perfect home, and that they receive all the care they need prior to homing as well. Couldn't ask for better.

I have just adopted my gorgeous boy persian from Strawberry....Both Fiona & Richard my cats foster parents were absolutely fab...they were super helpful throughout the entire process & go over & above to make sure their cats go to the right home. They have also helped with questions I had post adoption too. I highly recommend this charity😁👍

We got our beautiful second girl from Strawberry. Everyone here obviously really cares about the cats, they're thorough and make sure each cat goes to their perfect forever home. Everyone involved was so lovely and communicative, we're so grateful for everything story has done for us and Kiki!

We've relied on this outstanding cat rescue for years and never encountered a single issue. Adopting three cats from them has been a wonderful experience. A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated volunteers who contribute to making this rescue truly fantastic.

We’re about to adopt our second cat from Strawberry - we’ve had nothing but a positive experience with them - we love BSH’s and Persians and prefer to home cats that may not get a chance with other rescues!

I have 2 strawberry babies, both chinnie boys. One came in as a tiny baby with mum and siblings and one was born there from a pregnant emaciated mummy 2 days after she arrived. They do wonderful things and don't need bitter people that don't meet the criteria bashing them.
The forms are extensive as are the checks as these babies have already been through enough. Too many with sudden allergies ( they should have checked for before getting a cat). Crotch goblins that harras cats and again get sudden allergies. The rescue gets inundated with hundreds of messages a day and Is run by a team of volunteers via social media who are based all over the country. This is on top of fosters in their own homes. People complaining about handing cats over on the drive is because they have already been checked out. The cats are in people's own homes. How many total strangers a day do you let in your own home? Take no notice of the reviews. Some are from a team of mad women who wanted the items themselves. I've seen the messages from the lady gifting some items and the bags were wool and blankets and cat beds she regularly made for fundraising ..6 months before she went on end of life care as she was part of the adopters Facebook group.
The forms and information for pre adoption approval are long and thorough. The adoption fees are high so you are serious and not just a t.. buying cheap cats to sell on and make profit.
The vet bills are massive and the only money going in to cover them are adoption fees.
They can't make you suitable ! That's on you !

They block you if you try to share the truth

Raise money but this goes into their private account- They are not a charity!
If genuine why not register & be above board instead of taking advantage of vulnerable people??!

Driving from Worcester to visit an end of life supporter & then taking bags of things including her engagement ring & her mothers ring! Under the guise these would be sold to pay for cat vets bills! But then not declaring any of this to her followers & blocking anyone that tells the real story!!!
They don’t tell the truth

Do not deal with these people, they are not a registered charity. Have conned my friend who was terminally ill and had no family into "donating???" Her jewellery collection whilst she was under the influence of morphine. Visited her house on numerous occasions leaving with their car packed with goods from her house. Three times in one week. The proceeds from the sale of her jewellery are not shown on their webpage. She has now died so it is not possible to verify this but they should have got it in writing that this was gifted to them, which was worth thousands of pounds.

This Charity should be investigated. Over the last few years my friend donated a great deal of money to them but none of it seems to be recorded on their website. I am no longer able to log into their website due to comments I made. My friend was terminally ill and unfortunately died two weeks ago but prior to her death, whilst under the influence of morphine, the charity visited her on three occasions in one week being seen to load their car up with things from her house. As she had no family there was no-one to oversee this but according to her carers all her jewellery was taken also. This amounted to many thousands of pounds and I am sure this was not "gifted????" to them. I would like to know what proof they have that this was given. They have also set up a "go fund me page" in her memory to make money. My friends funeral is on Tuesday and Strawberry Persians wanted to take one of their cats to the Crematorium, together with a collection box for donations, which was thankfully refused by the Crematorium. Disgusting behaviour for a so called charity which is not even registered as a charity!

Dodgy as hell! It was a really long difficult process adoption process.

We finally got to adopt a cat, but weren't allowed to see where she
had been living. They just greated us outside on their drive way with her in a carry box.... We took her to our vets once home and she had conjunctivitis and dental disease that the charity had not mentioned.

After two weeks of having her, we woke up to her having passed away overnight. Which our vet thinks was due to an undiagnosed heart issue that is common in British short hairs. I emailed the charity to tell them that she had passed away and they completey ignored me and I've not heard from them at all.

Emailed for more information about a cat and got a bizarre curt reply with a huge detailed document asking millions of questions. Led me to do some more research on Trustpilot. They insist that you must have had indoor cats before - I am an experienced cat owner but my last cat was my first indoor cat. Having an indoor cat is not rocket science! Also bizarrely they want vet records of previous cats, proof that you will provide pet insurance, won’t have any children “under 8” and photos of inside your house. Very odd. The last cat we adopted (from a different charity), the lady came to our house to look around and got to know us - why can’t they do that? Also how are they going to check all these things anyway?! Are they going to check my bank account and watch my house?!! Do they want to find homes for these cats or not? If someone cannot write a simple polite reply and use basic terms like “Dear” “thank you” and “best wishes” that is a big red flag…So glad I checked Trustpilot first, has saved me a lot of time!

Called to query for advice on rescuing/adopting a kitten, was shouted at by a moody Karen, jeez, this lady was rude. Not sure how she can handle cats if she can't be polite to humans. Those poor cats, yes they need rescuing from her.
So sad, hope this woman gets the help she needs.

After seeing so many negative posts and yes it’s been five months since adopting my beautiful BSH silver pointed kitties.
I’ve got to say they are on point with their adoption procedures.
With working in a rescue centre myself ex amount of years ago. I know how challenging it can be, ensuring the animals go to the right home. Many times especially with dogs they cannot be homes with young children. This can also be with cats who are timid, nervous and shy.
With my adoptive dog passing February 2020 and then his adoptive friend… yes a cat in January 2021 I was in bits.
I decided to adopt from Ibiza September 2021.
Cut a long story short we were cheated as he came here very Ill but was in a loving home for 9 months .. he passed June.
I completed the application form August and adopted my beautiful babies mid September.
They saved me as did this rescue…
Try adopting from a rescue centre as this is hard to do too. Especially with young children.They are considering the well fare of the animals. To ensure they are not rejected and returned…

If you’re here reading reviews of this place, then something has probably led you to feel like you want to do more research, perhaps a gut feeling that these people are a bit strange..? Well, trust your gut instinct and run for the hills!
It’s essentially run by an eccentric couple who clearly dislike kids (hence the age restriction of 8 or above), who like to hoard cats that are long term dependent on them so they feel needed and appreciated and like they’re doing a fantastic charitable act of kindness. They have set up a business in the guise of a charity, which essentially regularly ships in other cats, (mainly British shorthairs unwanted by their breeders), that brings in a regular income to support the vets bills and long term care of their personally adopted cats. Then they regularly post about their own ill health needs and spiralling vets costs in a bid for sympathy and pity. All very odd.
I’m all for helping out older cats that have needs, but choose to do this at your own expense - do not make out you’re a charity to us nice folks who genuinely do want to adopt a cat in need, when you are basically acting as a supply pipeline for breeders who can’t shift their cats, in order to finance your own weird lifestyle.

Absolutely disgusting! Asked regarding adopting a cat, as you know they claim to be a rescue centre. Got a vicious message back basically shouting that if I have never had an indoor cat before I’m not good enough and how they want this and they want that on and on. Avoid at all costs, should be shut down. Not a rescue centre, just a cover for nasty old women selling cats at high prices.

These comments are totally unconnected to the person who posted about their experience at the beginning of September 2022 however it is scary just how similar our experiences turned out to be.
I ended up buying our new cat from a breeder listed on the British Shorthair website because I found Strawberry Persian Rescue impossible to deal with. Their communication is non-existent except for one curt text instructing me to download and complete an enormous application form which had already been submitted a week earlier. All fields were mandatory or N/A asking you agree to buy expensive food and give no treats. Now almost 3 months have passed and I have had no acknowledgement whatsoever never mind any feedback if I has been successful.
Needless to say, I gave up waiting after a week.
I would recommend doing your research on the websites of all the main breeds, decide which has the best personality traits to suit your family and contact a reputable breeder. We did exactly that and were able to welcome the most perfect addition to our family within 7 days of our initial contact. Our pedigree British Shorthair is gorgeous, playful, comical and is full of character. She has been with us for 6 weeks and has settled so well it feels like she has been with us for much longer. In a nutshell avoid Strawberry Persian Rescue, the stress and anticipation of waiting for an e-mail that never comes just isn’t worth the hassle!

I actually ended up buying my first cat from a breeder because I found Strawberry Persian Rescue difficult and obstructive. You fill in a massive form and email it. All fields mandatory or N/A asking you agree to buy expensive food and give no treats. They don’t respond so you have to chase it up and they ask you to copy and paste to messenger. Then you get further questions, some of them really personal. I was asked what I did for a living working from home-why do they need to know this? They ask you jump through hoops-promising not to have children in the future and to never let the cat outside and to arrange collection through car. I tried them again to get a little friend for my cat as though spayed she meows at night and I thought she’d like a friend. They kept looking for reasons why adopting a playmate for my cat from them wouldn’t be suitable e.g. saying a lot of “chinnies need to be an only cat” without knowing my cat or trusting my knowledge of my cat and instead patronising me as if I knew nothing as the cat’s owner. I wanted a kitten/younger cat as I felt a kitten would adjust better but they said they would only consider an adult cat as “chinnies can be bullies” and “we would only allow an adult cat and not a kitten who could be hurt or bitten and not be able to run away” as if my fluffy Persian Chinchilla might be some sort of psychopath. I was honest and my cat can be a diva towards me (she has never hurt me or anyone but birds and rats are not so lucky) and she hasn’t been around other cats but is on best behaviour with unfamiliars. They assumed my cat would bully and hurt a kitten based on their assumptions rather than fact. I have a lot to offer another cat-quiet semi in a cul de sac, cat protected garden and loving home. I adore cats and my kitty is very pampered. I will look somewhere more receptive and accommodating. Sadly, for not much more you can pay a deposit to a breeder to secure the cat you want without having to go through a ridiculous set of questions about your home, lifestyle and your capabilities to be a cat parent and your current cat’s ability to accommodate another cat also won’t be questioned and they won’t keep moving the goal posts as to whether you are a match for the cat or not. I understand they want what’s best but the vetting process which they call matching is excessively over the top and for me extremely off-putting. It’s a surprise to me that many of the cats actually end up being adopted at all. They seem to want to keep them in permanent fostering where they can have complete certainty that cats are cared for to their exacting and rigid criteria.
