I was strung along for months and in addition to being a rescue, they also take on kittens from breeders who can't sell and offer those as an option (at a higher cost of course) when the rescued cats and kittens should be offered first. I emailed, got a rude response, but then I was told that I would be sent photos of the cats, that never happened. Ultimately I'm very dubious about them considering they just string you along with no outcome.

I had a fairly bad experience a while ago. I contacted many times to try to adopt a cat and got ignored, when they did respond they just kept repeating the same couple of questions each and every time, so it would take me back to stage one. “Do you know the cat can’t be let outside?” “You have no kids, your age group might have kids one day and this cat isn’t suitable for children” Things like that but after around 8 times it was annoying and condescending.

I saw a cat I absolutely loved, after repeating the same questions so many times I had to take pictures of my house, they complained it’s near a road (it’s not allowed outside though?) I felt patronised a lot due to how many times they kept repeating the same questions and they kept trying to put me off of having the cat, saying he’s aggressive and not suitable for most people repeatedly. The price on the cat went up by £100 too.

FINALLY after weeks they agreed and I said I would do the six hour round trip that day to collect him, I asked if they can guarantee he would be there when I arrived as this is the cat I just went through the entire process for, they said no, someone can take him any time and they won’t reserve him for me.

After weeks of bad vibes, being patronised and feeling like I’d show up and not be able to take him or him not being here I politely rejected and had to cut my losses, as devastated as I was.

They then proceeded to publicly shame me (no names fortunately) on their Facebook page and people were saying I’m horrible for not showing up, not knowing I’d spent months being patronised and told my six hour round trip will probably be for nothing.

As much as I’d love to adopt, I wouldn’t from this place.

I actually can't speak highly enough of the small team at SPPCR - I adopted my little man 1.5 years ago and they were so helpful, and clearly put the cat's needs before everything else. Seeing all the work they do, the bills they pay, and the fact they will try to help ANY cat is just admirable.

Wonderful rescue, ran by selfless volunteers who dedicate all their time and energy to look after the cats, running back and fourth to vets, whilst also doing the admin, Facebook and website side of things, and juggling their own private lives and families.

I initially contacted Strawberry because we lived in a flat so we needed an indoor-only cat. Strawberry were perfect for this as their cats are strictly indoor only.  They made sure we adopted the right cat for our home and existing cat. The cats needs and happiness are paramount. They need to ensure their cats go to people who can fully meet their needs (indoor only, no young children etc) to keep the cats happy and safe.

They take on cats in need, often those who are elderly or have health problems and they do everything they can to treat the cats and give them the best forever home. They never give up on their cats. They are a rescue lead purely by volunteers who dedicate their lives to cats.

I have adopted four older cats from Strawberry Persian Rescue and they are the loves of my life!
The process involves filling in application forms and having home checks done but so it should! There are so many unscrupulous people out there giving cats away and they could end up as dog bait- particularly the older ones with health conditions.
The fact that Strawberry never give up on the old seniors and the disabled cats make them all the more special. They are a small charity with volunteers who work tirelessly so that cats who have been abandoned or neglected are not shifted from pillar to post but are placed within the best forever home for them to see them through their life. I am so glad that this is the process as who wants these little souls caused more heartache and sadness.
My four are absolutely beautiful and Strawberry stay in touch to offer support on anything you might need. They rarely get kittens but if you have a place in your heart for a wonderful cat they will make sure you get exactly the right one for your set up- that's crucial for happiness not only for the cat but the new owner and family as well. This is a lifelong dedication to helping cats that sees this small rescue carry on and may it continue... 100's of cats happily rehomed from some very distressing and tragic backgrounds. Highly recommended

I adopted from this Rescue an oldie who was unlikely to be adopted due to age (14) and the fact that he had been treated so cruelly by former owners, Strawberry quite rightly screen prospective adopters (like most rescues) - this is to ensure best match and less likelihood of cat being returned to be rehomed yet again. They allowed me at age 70 to adopt this lovely old chap, who sadly lost his sight and developed severe dementia whilst he was with me but the rescue gave me ongoing continued support throughout and I then subsequently became a volunteer - each and every volunteer gives their own time and money - the rescue certainly IS NOT out to make money as one reviewer has written. They take in often sick cats and have them examined and treated by vets and any operations/procedures done before they are put up for rehoming. Its the cats that matter most quite rightly. Most of the cats up for adoption are sent with toys/cat scratcher and other things these are NOT charged for. Can't fault them at all.

I adopted an oldie. He had had a full health check and dental prior to adoption. The volunteers here are fantastic

I have been part of the strawberry cats community for 4 years and have adopted 4 times during that time (1 with a heart condition but I gave him the best life until he went over rainbow bridge).
The adoption process is difficult for the reason that they want the cats to go to the best forever homes with the cats well being forefront in the process.
One of mine is a Maine Coon and I completely agree that the adoption fee is correct and only goes towards the vets bill for other rescue cats within Strawberry, they get so many neglected cats back to health and happiness. I can highly recommend Strawberry Persian Pedigree Cats, they are amazing.

Seems like a money making scheme . Asked about adopting a kitten was told previous adopters and volunteers will be getting first choice , kittens were mainecoon in my opinion they will be selling these kittens not giving out for adoption.
Then I got blocked by this group when I questioned why previous adopters are getting first choice . Disgusting behavior .

Adoption form is quite aggressive in its language but completed it snd never heard anything.
I had to chase several times to ensure it had been received I gave a lot of personal information.
Quite rightly they then asked for photos of my house I sent about 10 but they wanted photos of all the bedrooms,bathrooms and toilet a bit much I thought considering the only correspondence I was allowed was through Facebook messenger.
I asked several times for a video or telephone call,easier to show them my house and introduce ourselves but this question was avoided and then eventually declined because they are too busy
Without even saying anything about the photos or the application they then starting sending text saying I needed to buy all the cat equipment from them for example toys for £20 and a heated blanket in June for £35 snd much more
I have real concerns over the legitimacy of this charity, no verbal contact no further information on the cat,and taking a lot of personal details how are they keeping these details or what are they doing with them ,because they aren’t re-homing many of the poor cats
All very odd,I would avoid and don’t hand over money.
If it is legitimate then they are keeping cats much longer than needed and wasting charity money,they need some volunteers that have some common sense
I feel sorry for he cats

Worst experience ever trying to adopt a cat, the person in charge of selecting people is only preocupied with what you think of himself and not how you would treat or the ammenities you have for the cat.
He doesn't give any information about anything, only talk about himself and doesn't reply basic questions, he also gets ofended if you ask to clarify something.

I feel sad for the cats, i hope they find good places and not only people who like this person.
