Book People Avis 

I placed an order 24th march. Was told upto 7 weeks for delivery. 10 weeks later and generic replied from customer service I'm still waiting. No answer on the phone. And no way to request a refund.

Finally got hold of them on the phone and was told that they still can't tell me when the items will arrive, apparentlyall my items have been put to one side for me however they are working in date order and say that within the next few weeks I should receive a dispatched email.
they are unable to tell me how many a few weeks if she's just said in the next several weeks. I find this really really disappointing considering their website at already said it may take up to 7 weeks and I have been waiting 10 and most likely its going to be another month or so on top.
Very disappointed. when she said they're gone in date order and I mentioned that some people who ordered before me have received as I can see Scrubs some of these reviews she just stated a while for a period of last month they just grabbed any orders to fulfill. Shoddy work

****UPDATE after being told on the phone yesterday would still be several weeks until my items were delivered I received an email today saying that my items and out for delivery and should be with me within the next 48 hours. I advise anyone who is awaiting parcels from this company to phone them up it looks like he might get prioritised if you do.***

Further update: my items finally arrived today there was one item missing which on the invoice I had been charged for but after 10 weeks away for them to come I don't know how long it will be before or if I even get refunded. It has taken over 10 weeks for my items to arrive I had actually forgotten what I had ordered. The items are good items and the prices were brilliant just a shame it took 10 weeks and there was something missing. I've never had this problem with the book People prior to now

I placed an order on 20th March and today got an email after nearly 12 weeks that they have shipped 15 items and 3 items will be shipping soon and one item was not available which they will refund of £2. I had lost hope that I would ever get my stuff but pleasantly surprised and look forward to all the books.

Ordered on 20th March 2020 when delivery was 4 weeks. Had not noticed at foot of order that they were in liquidation but given the many many years of dealing with this company I was not overly concerned. Then received email to say orders were now 7 weeks for delivery, then another to say no more orders were being taken. I have waited patiently and checked Trustpilot feedback mid-May as I was getting a bit concerned. My patience and faith were rewarded when out of the blue I got an email on 5th June to say my Bookpeople shipment was with Hermes. It was delivered the next day, in 2 boxes; everything was there and everything was perfect. I found an email today in my Spam from the Bookpeople on 9th June to say my order is on its way. I am truly delighted to have received my order at such bargain prices;absolutely worth the wait.Please be patient folks. Thank you so much Bookpeople staff for all your hard work at this very difficult time. Good luck to you all for the future - you deserve it.

Ordered the 3rd March, email received on 27th May saying my item has been dispatched (after contacting them between these dates via Instagram when they were still taking orders and emailing normally with no replies!!)
No trace of item actually being dispatched...even with delays, items should have arrived by now,14 weeks after I ordered.
Even if I was offered a refund that would be fine,not good enough to take people’s money without contact....

Sorry to hear about the closure of this company normally great service but after ordering on the closing down sale at the end of February and again at the start of March still waiting for the orders to come hoping that I will get them soon

I am happy to say that I have now received both orders there were a couple of items out of stock but that is to be expected.

I ordered many items on the 17th of March. I am so happy after waiting many weeks my order finally arrived yesterday. Be patient everyone you will eventually get your order. I lost hope, but received a email yesterday saying my items are on there way.

The books I ordered in March from The Book People closing down sale have just arrived so please be patient if you are waiting for your order. Once again all books are of excellent quality and amazing value for money. I am going to miss this company a great deal.

The second of two orders from march has just dispatched and is on its way with hermes. The first arrived a day after dispatch back in may. Although there was no way to track delivery on their site because they shut it down, and no reply to emails, this was to be expected with everything going on and losing so much staff. Very pleased with prices, not bothered by how long its taken since it was not anything urgent that i needed immediately.
People really need to have more patience during a pandemic with a company currently in the process of shutting down business.
EDIT: just arrived the day after dispatch.

Slow delivery and no reply to my email but to be expected with all that’s going on and all the staff lost so I thought I’d just wait. My two orders from the 14th/15th March arrived today. One day off 12 weeks. Bargain prices. Happy it got to me eventually. Thank you.

They're trying their best I think.
Over 10 weeks since I placed my order and I have just received an e mail saying it's on the way (yay!).I had given up hope after filling in enquiry forms on the website and phoning and getting no reply.
It must be awful for the workers left, it's so
sad and they're virtually giving the books away.
Have been a customer for 20 years or more and have never had cause to complain. I am sad to see them go. Thank you Book People and God bless ;)

update.. I did receive my books eventually, one was out of stock and they refunded me for that

Still waiting for my order which I placed start of February. I have filled in a form 3 times on their website asking for my order's whereabouts with no reply. I tried phoning and when I eventually got through to someone after being put on hold the assistant hung up. The money, £27, has been taken out of my bank account but never received the stock.

Made a big order of children books on March 18th. Despatched in 5 shipments. Received 4 today and the last one is with Herms and expected tomorrow. Seems they are fulfilling the orders. Very long wait though.

I placed two orders on the 18th of March and after a very long wait they have both arrived today. All the items have been delivered off both orders and the quality is really good. I have used the book people for such a long time, it's such a shame they won't be with us much longer.

Thank you Book People. My order was placed on March 18th 2020 and delivered today. I received a box full of lovely products for my granddaughters. The value for money is tremendous. So a very long wait but a big thank you to Book People employees probably working in very difficult times and circumstances.

We ordered begining of March £37 mainly educational books for daughter. Tried contacting them on 8 seperate ocassions with no reply or return call. I raised a case on paypal and they finally responded. Order was dispatched and delivered 1 week later. I am convinced they only dispatched because of the paypal case.
They updated the shipping information as if it had been sent straight away.
Always been a loyal customer shame how bad the service has become

Ordered on 10 March, first half arrived few days after the other half today (2 June) ... They are not responding to emails at all! Ridiculous...
Wrote a negative review before and I tough it's fair to update as after circa 3 months I received the books.

Disgraceful. Have basically stolen my money!! Order placed on 27th MARCH, no books, no communications, no replies. Criminal.

I made several orders between February and March and received them all apart from one which I placed on the 6th March. After numerous emails and calls, all unanswered, my last order finally arrived today. It wasn’t complete, a few items missing but that’s ok. I emailed the company half an hour ago about my missing books and PayPal have just notified me of my refund ......can’t complain about that. The books themselves are fantastic and a great price too. For those still waiting on orders ....don’t give up hope just yet.

Ordered on the 10th March, was expecting to have to try and get a refund. No replies to emails, phone calls. This morning my parcel arrived, 1 item out of stock so expecting a refund, no dispatch email. Glad it's finally arrived!

I ordered on the 3rd of March when it was a 4 week turnaround. Then it was changed to 7 weeks. I emailed them at the start of April which they responded to 6 weeks later with a generic "bear with us" response.
I phoned them 3 times and got through twice. The staff were very polite and courteous. The lady I spoke to 2 weeks ago said that she would flag it up with the warehouse. The next day I received a dispatch email.
I am in Ireland and it took 10 days for it to be delivered. 2 items were out of stock and it stated I would get a refund but we will see if that happens!
Everything arrived as new. It is disappointing to see a great company go. And big sympathies to the staff too. The communication could have been a lot better though. 3 months is a long wait.
