Alex the Aggressive and intimidating teacher
I’m extremely disappointed with our experience here. My 6 year old daughter attended piano lessons for several months and gradually became more and more anxious about attending. She repeatedly told me she felt uncomfortable, that the teacher was often angry, and that she no longer enjoyed learning. These lessons are conducted in a back room and parents are not allowed to sit in.
After initially raising these concerns and being reassured, I recently had the opportunity to observe a lesson myself. What I witnessed was deeply concerning — visible frustration, negative body language, and behaviour that created an intimidating and uncomfortable environment for a child trying to learn. I myself felt uncomfortable.
During the lesson, I saw Alex visibly lose patience, slam his water bottle down, and put his head in his hands in frustration. When I challenged him afterwards, he apologised for his behaviour and stated that his frustration “had nothing to do” with my daughter. To me, that response only reinforced that his behaviour was inappropriate and unacceptable, regardless of the reason behind it.
Despite ending lessons immediately following this incident — at the very start of a new month, after paying in advance for upcoming lessons — Alex has also refused to issue any refund.
Children need patience, encouragement, and emotional safety in order to build confidence, especially when learning a new skill. Unfortunately, this was not our experience. No child should feel distressed or fearful during a lesson.
I would not recommend this service to parents looking for a supportive, patient, and professional learning environment for their children.
