Ventura Roof Tents Avis 

we have the ventura 1.4 deluxe extended with annex, love the tent and the annex, however the annex groundsheet has been ripped so I thought easy, ill just go on the website and order a new sheet as its just zipped together! Noooo for some strange reason Ventura don't seem to sell them separately.. If any one else has had this problem and found away around it please let me know. If Ventura decide to sell them then I would give 5 stars happily.
Edit. Ventura have been in contact with me the day they saw this and arranged to source one from a display they had. They went above and beyond to help sort the issue so happily putting 5 stars now. Thanks for all the help from ventrura :).

Mixed experience here. Initially impressed with the products (hardshell roof tent and awning), but some growing concerns.

Re the roof tent, it's worth bearing in mind that it weighs 65kg approx. That means, unless you intend to use it regularly and leave it on your roof permanently (something I don't want to do, as I typically would use it 2-3 times a year), it takes quite a bit of grunt to get it there in the first place.

More concerning however is the way that the front popped up on its own while doing 70mph on the motorway last weekend. I'm a little anal in making sure everything is secure, so really don't think it was user error (though I can't rule it out entirely?!), but I can only assume the two front clasps just came loose, and the wind forced it up and open. Thankfully, a passing car alerted me to the fact that something was awry, and I pulled over and was able to re-secure. But I'm nervous about driving with it on, as it stands now.

I also found the engineering of the L brackets for fitting the awning hopelessly ill-thought out. I basically had to use the clamps, but these had to fit under the hardshell tent. I've done what I can to ensure they won't damage the fibreglass underside of the tent, but it really is a poor set-up.

So mixed experience. Plus side would be that once you're in the roof tent, it's roomy and cosy. Can't fault the experience of using the product.

UPDATE 2 - Roof tent returned to Ventura Tents this morning - most grateful for their offer of a replacement, especially as it was nearly a year and half old. 2 star review upped to 4.

I was very impressed with the roof tent, the service i received was top notch! They took time to explain everything to me in detail every step of the way and the pair of them were absolute gents.
I would recommend Ventura roof tents to everyone, the price, the quality and the service was 10/10.
If you have time I recommend having your roof tent fitted as its done expertly by the person who know roof tents inside out.

The roof tent itself is great but the awning is awful. We used it the weekend and had a rain shower, the inside of the awning was soaking with puddles pooling. It has cut out holes on the top for some reason and water gets in. Wrote to customer services but no reply to enquire what holes are for and to address water. Disappointed!!

Rooftenr itself was good, the 270° awning however is cheaply made and the ‘tie down’ tags pulled out from the stitching with next to no pressure applied at all

The customer service has been above and beyond from the very start, from phoning and enquiring pre sale, to answering and helping with anything throughout.
The tent is amazing such good quality!! So much room up there, super comfortable & very easy to use.
We would 100% recommend this company for so many reasons.
We are driving the continent of Africa and parts of Europe so the tent will be our little home for the next year! Very excited thank you again for all your help and support!!

This is our first roof tent we bought. So in the beginning it was just figuring out how to install and put it on your car. But once done… wow. The ease to set the tent up. The quality and space is brilliant. With the annex it just gives you a bit extra room. The service is great too. Any queries get answered quickly. Delivery was quick and prompt.

Will is a gentleman, this is my 3rd Ventura roof tent, I drive from Leeds to essex Everytime, I pay and they fit it for me 😎 I wouldn’t buy from another place that’s the truth.

Bought the 1.4 deluxe extension version. Product is absolute brilliant! So easy to not only set up but to fit to the car. Customer service is also absolute fantastic! Without any doubt this company are genuinely top of their market area.
Used it only twice so far once in horribly wet and windy weather which it took in it's stride absolute zero water ingress at all.
Only regret is that I never bought one before now!

Great group of lads, very helpful and took there time to show us there product! We set our roof top tent up straight away when we got home, me and my son spent the first night in it and can’t wait to go out exploring! We added the blackout covers to the inside witch where a great extra! Really pleased with it

When looking for roof tents, the choices are endless, Some prices are ridiculous some are too cheap. I completed a lot of research and found Ventura Roof tents to be good qualitand reasonably priced. At first was like how can there be such a price difference but unfortunately some companies are greedy. I completed my due diligence and one thing that was highlighted was the customer service was excellent. This was a reassuring factor when spending a lot of money.
I completed the purchase and fitment same day as they were very accommodating to get me in and fitted. I found the package deals and price of accessories very fair and of good quality. Unfortunately during fitment we ran into a few issues that needed addressing, William the manager is a credit to the company they sorted out the issues very professionally and in an expedited manner. This is what a good company is about the after service. I would highly recommend them and will definitely be supporting and returning. Thank you again. Keep doing what you doing.

After looking round many different brands and seeing what is about. Came across these guys and had a word with them about various things. Ended up buying the 1.8m wide Rooftent. First adventure in it was a 10 day road trip doing the NC500, couldn’t fault a thing. Really easy to put up once you get the hang of it, and putting the annex on takes a couple minutes which is ideal. Much warmer than expected even in very high winds in Scotland. Only thing to note (which isn’t a problem) is the condensation on the inside of the tent in the morning. Open a couple windows but leave the fly nets shut for an hour and that’ll be gone and all good to fold the tent up. Put the whole thing up and down everyday and didn’t have a wet mattress, didn’t have too much rain while we were there but the but we did have didn’t phase us at all.

I chose this roof-tent very carefully and was swayed both on recommendation from a friend who owns one, and from the very welcoming and friendly chat I had on the phone with the owner of the company. Not only was the fitting carried out by friendly technicians, but I was made to feel welcome and valued as a customer. I have since spent two nights in the roof tent and I have to say it was of most excellent quality, easy to put up and very comfortable. At this price-point, it's a great purchase for anyone getting into roof-top tenting.

Just been back to Ventura roof tents Ltd after first going there in 2017 to purchase my first roof tent. Still great service really nice and helpful people, I would highly recommend to everybody who is looking to purchase a roof tent and 270 degree awning and also will install it while you wait, very quick too.

Great value tents, cannot be beaten on price, had mine about 3 years now so I'll point out some minor points that could be improved for little money.
The tent itself would be far better with Double D ring fasteners on the strap as the velcro fittings tend to 'load' and become less effective over time, I took off the external tie downs as one would keep undoing and flap along the car, I used small ratchet straps instead, the looping rings should be stainless or better plated as they can rust, a little vaseline stops this
The windows toggles that you use to hold down the flaps one has frayed and needs a re-stitch and seal.
Improvements

Slightly wider toggle straps or tougher material.

The cover could be fitted with some eyelets along one edge, this is to add some cord to help pull the cover over the top when packing up as if it is windy the cover tends to try to blow back and makes this a two man job. these can be added by the owners.
Annexe........to adjust the 'hang' some tension straps could be added to adjust for drop height, tension straps are fitted to the main tent to adjust the fly tension Im fitting a couple of self adhesive loops to the door side to guy out the corners to make the door more vertical at its base
I have added some riser bars to lift my tent off the Roof bars and placed the tent off the centre line so the Annexe hangs straight.

Overall the Ventura cannot be beaten on price but could be improved with some very minor changes to its design, most problems are very minor and can be fixed by the owners very cheaply, the annexe would be greatly improved by adding tension straps as not all cars are the exact correct height, I have had my tent fitted on the roof of a Fiat Panda, too low for the annexe but you can use the space under the tent to sit and eat or hang waterproofs, I have just added a thermal liner to my tent and this make the inside almost pitch black, it is quieter off the ground and the liner should improve this.

It can take about ten minutes to decamp but basic set up (without annexe) is just about 3 minutes, mostly to remove the cover the tent itself just swings out in seconds and you use two guy lines to pin down that edge and you have a dry space.

There are faster set up roof tents but the quickest (hard shells) have little space and mostly you cannot get out of your wet cloths without soaking your bedding, the Ventura, even the basic one has a space under the tent when swung out you can get out of your outer clothing under shelter and quickly climb up and dive in, when its wet and windy its a vast difference when you climb in from outside.

With the windows closed down the Ventura is snug and draft free, when you need ventilation it is really open and not close and muggy like in some tents I have used, as I mentioned it is quieter off the ground, warmer but more air movement to ventilate.

I would buy this model again, I drive a VW Touran with 120mm of extra height added to the roof bars.
