Great service
Bought my bonsai from them in October. It wasn't doing well this summer in the heat. Contacted them and they sorted it. Told me what to do and it's looking much healthier now.

We were passing and popped in feeling a…
We were passing and popped in feeling a bit nervous as I have wanted a bonsai for so long but Paul was so welcoming, passionate and professional gave us a tour and talked us through his collection. Selected a Chinese privet and he gave me step by step instructions and showed me how to wire and trim. Left feeling so excited and confidant can’t wait for him to do some classes and start growing a collection. Thankyou so much for your time today and being in sure a magical space.

Excellent and Friendly Service
I wanted to rescue a small tree from an abandoned flower pot which I thought it would make a nice Bonsai due to its shape. I needed a suitable pot and some other items to do this having no experience at all. I found Yorkshire Bonsai on line and they have been extremely helpful and the rescue tree is potted up appropriately and has been joined by a specimen tree also from Yorkshire Bonsai. I have learnt a lot from my email conversations with Paul who is very helpful, encouraging and eager to help.

Root bound
Update: company response is misleading as the privet was not sold on discount from the clearance range. The podocarpus was, and is indeed doing very well after replacing the soil. Packaging was very secure.
Original review: Chinese privet was completely root bound and roots climbed up the trunk. Basically no soil left, and cannot be watered without submersion. Podocarpus soil covered in algae and small weeds, and soil had shrunk away from the side of the pot.

The plant died within 1.5 months
The plant I was sent died within 1.5 months. I should have known better, as this company's refund only lasts one month from delivery (a pretty convenient policy). Leaves have all dropped, and worms and bad odour have started coming out of the plant. I tried contacting the customer service for a refund, and their only response was that ''the plant is under stress and to put it in a bright, sheltered position with the hope that it will return to strength next year''. Really disappointing and a waste of £60, but as I said, it should have been expected for all the fancy marketing these people put out to sell chinese bonsais. Avoid at all costs.

Thank you for your message. We’re always happy to receive feedback — it genuinely helps us improve — but we do kindly ask that any information shared is accurate and that exact quotes are used.
Just to clarify, our returns policy is in line with UK regulations regarding perishable items, and as such, we do not accept returns on living trees regardless of the time passed — there is no time-based restriction applicable to this policy.
We also note that you mentioned in your email that the tree "arrived in extremely poor condition", which as you point out was approx. 6 weeks ago. Had you contacted us at that point, we absolutely would have been happy to assist, offer support, and explore a resolution. We are sorry this was not the case.
We fully appreciate that, by the very nature of living products, there can very occasionally be slight issues. In these rare cases, we’re always more than happy to offer guidance and support and work with our customers to ensure the best possible outcome.
We’re genuinely proud of our commitment to our customers and the care we take with each and every order. We’re fortunate to work with hundreds of extremely happy customers each week and are really pleased with the response to the trees and service we provide.

Dissapointed with trees received.
Copy of edited e-mail I sent to Yorkshire Bonsai below. Following disappointment with one of the trees I received .
Awaiting a response from the company and I will amend rating if they offer replacement/refund on the Chinese Pepper tree I brought from them. I’m disappointed though that I even felt I needed to leave a negative review given the otherwise excellent ratings for the company on this site.

My order arrived well packed and the two tree’s were undamaged/healthy looking.
Once I had a chance to have a good look at them I was pretty happy with the Chinese Elm that I’d been sent. This was despite the tree having a little more space in the canopy than I was expecting from the representative picture on the website. I’m however happy to keep the tree. I was however very disappointed with the Chinese Pepper Tree the second tree I’d ordered. Whilst I realise the representative picture is just that, representative, the tree I received differed significantly from the one in the picture on the web site.
The one on the web site had a a nice open branch structure with a well proportioned canopy, ending in a nice crown at the top of the tree. The tree I received although it has a nicely shaped trunk, has a very dense/almost square canopy with no discernible crown.

Received a quick reply from Yorkshire Bonsi that basically told me, that the tree I’d been sent had been pruned /shaped differently and had lots of potential and that the picture of the tree on their web site were representative. That to me suggests similar to very similar and the web site itself say the tree would be very similar. This however was not the case and I feel their description and photo were misleading. As had I wanted a tree like the one I was sent I would have chosen one with similar form and shape. I also wanted an oven ready tree so to speak which is why I had paid a little more for it than I’d intended . Certainly, not one that I’ve got to do a lot of work on, to get it into a more pleasing form to my eye. Something I’m expecting that will take several years. What really me annoyed me however was that I was informed as the tree was discounted I could not return it for replacement or refund even though I was clearly unhappy with it.
My advice would therefore be buyer beware and I certainly won’t be buying from the company again. For reference I also order and received another tree from another supplier which I am delighted with and exceeded my expectations so in future if I wish to buy any trees in future I will be using them and not Yorkshire Bonsai.

I visited the company to purchase some…
I visited the company to purchase some training pots and accessories and was greeted and shown around by Paul the owner of the company. He is very knowledgeable and answered any questions I had for him, and delivered himself in a professional manner. Will be re visiting as they are local to me, if you’re looking for a bonsai and need questions answered to find the right one then i would fully recommend the company.
