Website & Galleries setup easy once you understand editor UI
When I started playing with Zenfolio’s new website and galleries editor it just wasn’t intuitive and I wasn’t finding videos that helped me get over the initial hump. So I scheduled time with a customer success rep who did a great job walking through the editor’s UI and that’s all I needed to get my new website up and running.

Nice and easy
Even though I was lost sometimes I had the help I needed thanks to Alex! Very nice person. I understand also that being at the beginning of the transition can imply some delays and adjustments. Basically the process went very well and I am very happy with the results.

The Downside
I have been with Zenfolio for many years now and in general very happy with the service. However if you want to add code to your website or use Google Search Consul you cannot unless you have PortfolioPlus or ProSuite. You cannot use Google Search Consul to add code your site's head tag if you only subscribe to the PortFolio plan. This is a disadvantage if you are a small operator. Its forcing you to purchase features that you cannot use.
Just received a reply to my original review but it just reiterates what I had already pointed out. SEO and code input to your website should a a basic provision for all pland and extra features like marketing, selling and booking services should be premium plans.

In my opinion...
In my opinion, to get five stars, these things are missing:
- use of several accounts for using the site, at least 5, with their own usernames and passwords;
- multiple watermarks (text only), no less than 5, customizable and applicable, individually on each photo and video;
- possibility of configuring licenses for different uses of the photos and videos, associated with different prices, predetermined through a customizable price list, also with coupons and progressive discounts based on quantities;;
- payment of the service through Paypal. Please note, I am not referring to the sales methods that customers can choose, but to your product, paid for by me;
- use of the open standard CalDav, in addition to the proprietary Google Calendar, for the "Booking" function;
- possibility to enter also or only geographic coordinates in the “Booking” function. Very often it is not possible to locate a shooting location in a different way, and any mapping or navigation system will recognize them.

Zenfolio is a solid starting point for…
Zenfolio is a solid starting point for simple photography portfolios, but not suitable for my requirements. I need:
- complex user role logic
- fully multilingual content (DE/EN/ES)
- legally compliant online shop (incl. EU laws & invoicing)
- full design freedom and plugin integration
- scalable for future automation (accounting, dropshipping, licensing)
Pagebuilder: Easy to handle
Support: good
Price: expensiv

Like DarthVader, they change the terms of the deal
Nothing Zen about them.
After nearly twenty years as a customer, I've really grown to hate my captive relationship with Zenfolio. They used to be great, but then the began creating problems and charging extra or forcing me to pay other people to solve issues they create. Honestly, it feels abusive.
For instance, when they came out with new modernized page designs, there was no way for existing customer to migrate their backend galleries. So we had to get a whole other account, just to use the new templates. Which broke the links on about a thousand galleries.
Their proprietary scheduler was too clunky for our studio needs (groups, different products, multiple photographers) and it didn't want to integrate acuity. We gave up and hired a web designer.
So basically, I am now only able to use zenfolio for cloud storage and galleries. I no longer get seo credit from my customers and event attendees going to galleries, being they are now under a different url than my functional webpage.
But even with that one last fuction, they've managed to make things so much worse. They recently decided to "archive" galleries without a lot of traffic and putting them behind a 24-hr access wall. We constantly need to access our published work for social and other marketing content. You CAN make it function the way it always used to, but only if you fork over an extra $250 per year ( in addition to the $300 I'm already paying) just to make the site function the way it did forever.
It's like being in business with Darth Vader, they are always changing the terms of the deal.
