Be aware the deposit is non refundable
We booked by telephone for garden rubbish removal and paid a £55 deposit. We then received an email detailing the service we’d booked and realised it didn’t meet our needs, so less than 24 hours after receiving the email I contacted to cancel the appointment for the following week and was told the deposit was non-refundable ( after checking the email I found this written in small print at the bottom of the email). Apparently we should have been told this at the time of booking but we have no recollection and asked them to check the recording, we were told they would check and be in touch but to date we have not heard anything. I just want others to be aware and would have preferred to give no stars but this is not an option.

We have looked into this matter and conclude that the non refundable nature of your booking fee was fully explained at the time of booking and, as you have stated, confirmed in writing - we sent you a communication following your request for investigation to explain that this was the case.
The reason we take a non refundable booking fee for all collections is that whether the collection goes ahead or not we do still face overheads to administer your booking - these overheads are things such as advertising (so you know we exist and have a resource to lean on), administrative staff who take your call and organize your booking efficiently. In addition, when your booking occupies a space in our schedule it means that other customers cannot book in for that time slot.

Too expensive
I must admit that the guys who came to collect my staff were very nice and professional… job was done in no time…. Phone operators I spoke to were very nice and friendly also… very good service…. I must say…. I requested collection of sofa what cost me 115£…. Then in few days I needed to add my mattress also…. They told me they will send me the price later depending on the size a material etc…. After collection I got a bill for 149£…just for mattress collection… with explanation that it was certain type of mattress which need to go to specific waste. It was too late for me to refuse payment or to do anything really… so I paid additional 149£…. But if would I knew it I wouldn’t use this company. In the past I paid for bed with mattress removal 80£ together about 8 month ago… I just didn’t expected. Make sure you have a set up price with them before collection or simply choose different company. To pay 264£ just for sofa and mattress is honestly too much.

We are sorry that you found our pricing too high and your advice to others that they should ensure they know the price of a service before they book is very sensible.
Our collection and disposal services are priced to ensure that you receive an excellent service from both our office and collection staff and also that all of the items collected from you are legally and ethically disposed of.
When your collection is complete you receive both before and after photos from us along with an appropriate waste transfer note so that you have complete peace of mind that your waste will be collected efficiently and disposed of legally.
You mention in your feedback that you previously paid another company £80 to collect and dispose of a bed and a mattress - with mattress disposal costs alone of approximately £90 per mattress in the UK I wonder where your bed and mattress were disposed of - hopefully you have all of the appropriate paperwork and audit trail to show anyone that should ask.
Cheaper services are certainly available however like many things in life you do tend to get what you pay for.

Excellent service. Was let down by another company and Zero Waste was able to help at short notice, and actually turned out to be cheaper. Communications throughout was great, with an easy contact number. Service on the day (by Ian) was very efficient. Would thoroughly recommend this company.

Stressful experience
They forgot to clear the loft even though I had requested them to. And they left a load of strewn rubbish everywhere. They did come back and deal with it, for which I was grateful but the whole thing was a headache. They also forgot an object in the communal hallway and I had to organise for someone else to clear it. They seem like a good company so I was disappointed overall.
