I am following up on my previous review because, unfortunately, there has still been no meaningful progress on my remortgage with Optima Legal.

Although Optima continues to provide general responses on Trustpilot, these do not reflect any actual progress on my case. I have still not received a meaningful update through the portal or any other communication regarding what action is being taken to resolve the outstanding issue or when completion can be expected.

I understand that the current outstanding matter is for a third party to confirm the deed. However, my concern is that I have not been given any clear information about how this is being actively chased or escalated. The updates I receive are essentially the same as the previous week — that Optima is still waiting for the third party.

My case was opened on 17 July, and Optima received the HSBC redemption statement on 18 August. Despite this, there has been no meaningful progress since then.

Optima is also fully aware that my previous mortgage deal expired on 31 July. As a result, I have been paying a variable mortgage rate while waiting for this remortgage to complete, which is costing me a significant amount of additional money every day.

As another month has now passed, I am concerned that the delay could result in my existing lender requiring a new redemption statement. I sincerely hope this does not become another reason for further delay, given how long my case has already been ongoing. I expect Optima to actively manage the process and take all necessary steps to avoid any further unnecessary delay.

I have now also made a formal complaint to Barclays regarding the handling of my remortgage by Optima Legal.

At this stage, I am not looking for another generic response on Trustpilot. I want Optima to actively chase and escalate the third party, confirm who has been contacted and what action has been taken, and provide a clear and realistic completion timeline.

Two months into the process, this lack of meaningful progress and proactive communication is extremely disappointing.

Whilst Optima did ultimately arrange completion on time, the overall experience was unnecessarily difficult and frustrating.

Throughout the mortgage transfer, I received multiple conflicting explanations from different members of the team regarding the early transfer of funds, the Certificate of Title, when funds could be received, and where certain information was contained within the completion documentation. I repeatedly had to contact both Optima and Barclays to try to establish what had actually happened, only to receive different answers depending on who I spoke to.

There was also a discrepancy with my redemption statement. When I initially raised this, I was told that it was something I would have to deal with separately afterwards. When I asked whether Optima could simply request an updated redemption statement, I was then told, essentially, that yes, they could do this. It was frustrating that this wasn't proactively offered in the first place and gave the impression of a lack of effort to resolve the issue.

I also experienced similar issues when asking about releasing additional funds, where I initially wasn't given a clear answer and had to contact the team again several days later before being told it may be possible.

The main issue wasn't that everything went wrong - the completion itself happened on time - but that obtaining clear, consistent information and getting issues resolved required far more effort than it should have. The conflicting information and lack of proactive communication made what should have been a straightforward process unnecessarily stressful.

All interactions with Optima legal were excellent, from their Do not Reply email service, the questions posed, were simple, easy to understand.

Anytime I had to get in touch to speak person to person, was a breeze....

Office I dealt with was in Leeds city , local to me & urgent paperwork, I could sign & drop off.
