Excellent tax service

I used AARP tax service for the first time in 2024. They were extremely organized and fast. They file electronically and direct deposit. Believe it or not, my refund appeared in my bank account after just eight days. The accountant that I'd been using since 1995 moved too far away. AARP did it for free and saved me $200 that I normally pay. I'll definitely use them again.

AARP - Getting More Political and Liberal

I've been an AARP member for decades, witnessing the magazine moving more and more to the liberal left. The Feb/March Issue of AARP Magazine was over the top when they plastered Robert De Niro's photo on the cover with the editor stating why this was his third cover. The editor wrote "because he inspires us."

You got to be kidding. De Niro, having babies in an out of several relationships and marriages is NOT inspirational. Moreover, his caustic, divisive rhetoric about a former president does not promote peace and harmony in this country when we need it most.

De Niro should stay out of politics and stick with what he knows best: entertainment. He is especially not a role model when it comes to keeping a nuclear family together for life. And AARP Magazine should stop the onslaught of always having celebrities on their covers unless the individual truly made a positive contribution to society.

Not fighting for seniors

This organization is so corrupt and never fights for seniors like they claim. Now they are against minimum staff requirements in nursing homes. Most of these corporations that own them are seeing records profits.

Mr. De Niro a disgrace for the cover of your magazine!

I am shocked to see your pick for this past cover! I used to admire Robert De Niro as an actor when I was a young adult.
When he stood on stage at the Academy Awards in front of a crowded audience and millions on TV, and said F__ck,Trump,I lost all respect! I don't care what your political views are ! I think that was totally out of line! With many children watching, where are the values here? I threw my magazine in the trash!

AARP and The Hartford may be taking advantage of your trust in them!

This is a letter I wrote to AARP on their social media page, I believe that their partnership with The Hartford Insurance Company may not be an honest one that really cares and looks out for Senior's pocket books. Speaking of Members Benefits I'd like to talk about your partnership with The Hartford. My wife and I joined AARP several years ago so we could purchase our multiple insurance needs through the Hartford. I believed and was under the assumption that we were getting the very best deal on insurance coverages that we couldn't get anywhere else. I assumed this because I always get constant emails from AARP about how they are fighting for Senior Citizens and their financial budget on many things like prescriptions, saving social security, many discounts from business, and affordable good insurance coverage through The Hartford. My wife and I purchased a new van in Dec. 2023 and after getting online and canceling our old van and signing up this van I realized that our premium seemed really high! I also felt like our homeowners was awful high. So, I made up my mind to gather up all of our various Hartford policies and compare. So today I did cancel all of our Hartford policies effective 3/2/2024 because I found the same coverage from Progressive at a much cheaper rate. I never dreamed that the Hartford would be price gouging us like they were, and I also don't understand how you AARP weren't looking out for our best interest and warning us about it. All I can say is SHAME ON YOU!! for pretending to be something you're not. You had to be aware that the Hartford increases Seniors insurance premiums even if they are responsible and safe customers with little or no claims. So, I wanted you to know because I won't be renewing my AARP membership when it expires either because I do not trust you anymore to be looking out for my best interest. Respectively, from me a once happy customer! 😎🎼🎤🎺

Not a fan of the magazine

Not a fan of the magazine, discounts or services offered. I am curious how old the magazine staff; writers and so forth are? I struggle to find any helpful or thought provoking articles. I am at a point where the magazine goes from mailbox to trash. Just stop with the magazine and save the trees please.

I would give zero stars if that was…

I would give zero stars if that was available. I kept receiving mailers to join after my husband passed away. After 3 years I decided to join and signed up for weekly newsletters etc.. I received my first weekly newsletter this past week and clicked on an article that said 50 Hacks there were a few things that I was interested in, one being Dr Clean. Dr Clean videos show a substance to spray and wipe that removes tough grime and baked on grease for ovens & pots & pans. The video of it working was amazing, I was ready to order and decided to check on reviews, it was no better than water for cleaning. I had actually purchased another product that touted the same effectiveness that I received and tried and it was basically water just as DR Clean is. When you call to complain they offer to refund you half of what you paid. Shame on AARP for advertising a known bad product. At the same time I checked out the Simple Safe personal alarms, which had good reviews and I felt was a good value for the price. During the checkout process they offered a $10. cash back award so I clicked on it and continued with my purchase. At checkout I did not see a $10. credit however there was a $3.00 charge added to the order which I assumed was a packing fee?? After I placed my order I received an e-mail telling me I was enrolled in something called Reverie for a subscription, the $3.00 was for the first week and then I was supposed to click on the $10. credit which would acknowledge that I was signing up for the subscription. SHAME ON AARP for not vetting the ads they allow on their site. This is totally unacceptable!! They are facilitating scammers to target older people. I am cancelling my membership and requesting my money back.

How AARP cares for the elderly

This story will let you know exactly how much AARP cares about the elderly. A man came to the assisted living facility 2/7/24 where my 90 year old mother lives and handed her a summons while she was in the dining room with the other residents. She is to appear in court in March regarding a 2011 credit card debt in the amount of $1,600 (the details of the initial charge, plus twelve years of added penalties and interest is unknown ). She said she's never had a credit card with AARP, and because I am her Power of Atty., I know for certain she has never received a statement in all these years nor a letter from a debt collection agency. The summons has no birth date listed nor the last four digits of a social security #, which is more than unusual.

To get insurance quote

To get insurance quote, had to become member and sign up for United in order to get quote 500 a month is too much so my agent canceled. They billed me anyway. I called and canceled next month anyway. Unethical to make me sign up in order to get a quote and then attempted fraud to get money from me when I turned you down. Warning, pure evil!

When I joined AARP it was for the so…

When I joined AARP it was for the so called big discounts. I got consumer cellular for $20 The AARP membership price. It didn't take long to shoot up to $29. Also, I got car insurance with the Hartford insurance company because I was suppose to get a big discount because I'm an AARP member. The first year I paid over $1,400 The second year they raise me up to over $1,800 with me costing them nothing. I shopped around and am now paying less than $800 a year for the same coverage. So much for the big AARP discounts. I won't be renewing my AARP membership, what for??

They seem to focus on selling ads

They seem to focus on selling ads, give money-saving advice to save pennies, and talk about fraud, but they never reply to info about fraud/scams.
I tried and checked out their ads in the past, and they were all deceiving.

I’ve never used this company and I’m not in the USA but clearly they have bought my details and spam me about 17 emails daily, I’ve unsubscribed multiple times and blocked them but I still receive this rubbish. I’m tempted to call them and go through a full process of buying something and then hang up to waste their time. STOP SENDING EMAILS UNSOLICITED!

Rogue insurace marketing activities by AARP

On or around Dec.1, 2023, an agent of AARP was phoning homes in Coppell, TX 75019 and claiming to give MEDICARE patients a new and unique MEDICARE ADVANTAGE offered by AARP. In this new medicare, there would be no premium, rather AARP would be paying the medicare recipient some $250.00 for groceries. This rogue agent is a male and is targeting older women who have Traditional medicare. In essence, this man is doing rogue insurance marketing. The allure of paying zero dollars in premium and receiving $250.00 monthly for groceries can be powerful for the poor. Irrespective of your previous Health Insurance policies either by Molina Healthcare or Aetna or Humana, this man is converting all traditional medicare policies to AARP Medicare Advantage. My wife was a victim of this fraud. As soon as this rogue changed my wife's Traditional Medicare, my wife lost her home health services and her hospital appointments were canceled, because the fraudulent policies this rogue agent crafted paid for nothing. Please beware of AARP agents renewing your Medicare. This fraud is very dangerous to any medicare patient. The only Beneficiary is AARP/United Health. This agent is working for them. Unfortunately, many innocent medicare patients will lose their benefits and may even die for denial of benefit. I reported this case to Medicare. Beware of AARP solicitation for your medicare renewal. It is a very dangerous marketing. Please publish and send information to both AARP and United Health. I am willing to respond to queries about this. All that it takes for evil to propagate, is for good men to keep quiet. I am not keeping quiet.

Irresponsible Aging Standards sets false expectations

Lately the AARP Bulletin and publications praise people for longevity who are wealthy and well known. Such people have unlimited resources and staff to keep them healthy. This is very misleading and implies that they should be models. WHAT RUBISH! Special concern is Martha Stewart. We should all aspire to be on Sports Illustrated? A focus on real people, aging realistically would be much more realistic and responsible.
