Issues In General

I have my annual renewal set up to be paid automatically but still receive mail. Also, I try to use my rewards points but I have never gotten anything for them. The only things that are certain are the E-cards that I won't spend points on. I also see the low annual fees to join and rewards for joining, which, of course, as a long standing member, I don't get. I don't know if I will renew. I am thinking about leaving AARP since it doesn't seem to do anything for me.

AARP website fails to address new…

AARP website fails to address new members with easy to understand navigation. This is further complicated by online customer service persons.
AARP management has FAILED to educate and train . Since there is no introduction about how to best navigate, it's not there. For example clicking on a link to companies who offer products or services is clumsy. Instead the end user like myself became frustrated with having to create a user id and password. Having to wait for authentication. That should connect with a simple click. For example to connect with BUDGET car rentals and selecting vehicle, date and strong upsale of additional insurance coverages is pathetic. Along with switch and bait practices. All of these experiences happen and I was totally unprepared and disappointed.

READ THE FINE PRINT!

I have been trying to CANCEL my life insurance with this company since May 28. I joined last year and received notification it was term life insurance and my rates would be increasing. I was given the option to convert to whole life insurance but the rates to convert to whole life nearly doubled! I looked around and found a policy I could afford and spoke with a representative, John Dublin, who assured me my policy was canceled.
I’m STILL receiving mail… EVERYTHING accept my refund check. Spoke with Alex in the cancellation department on 6-10 and was again told the policy was canceled and the refund check was going out last week. Received an email today stating my payment is due and the policy still shows inforce online. Spoke with Greg in the cancellation department today who stated the request is being handled by the back office and normally takes 7-10 days to process the cancellation!! REALLY??? SICK OF THE RUN AROUND!!

Paid $20, Got Sh*tty Tech in Return

I paid $20 for a yearly subscription, but I've rarely been able to login to my AARP Now app on my phone. Having the app is integral to taking advantage of its benefits, but if I can't log in, WTF is the point? When I call customer service they are able to fix the issue, but then the same problem keeps happening. I'm going to call them this week (THIRD time I'm calling them, BTW) but I'm not calling for help. I'm calling to tell them I'm not going to subscribe for their services next year because in spite of all their "supportive" language, they DON'T care about American seniors. If they DID, they would FIX the problem of not being able to log in to their precious app! Don't tell ME that I'm the ONLY person having issues with logging in🙄🤬! If they cared about us, they would fix it. Actions may speak louder than words, but INaction screams the loudest of all. This is, sadly, so typical of American businesses; declaring tthey care when, in fact, they don't care at all. They live by the first commandment of American marketing: "Profits Before People." And they don't care WHAT ages their customers are.

Don’t Bother and It’s a Bother

What a joke! Discounted car insurance for just under $2000 a year! I don’t think so! Bought top rated car insurance for $1300, on my own. All AARP is about is a marketing scheme to get you to spend money with AARP vendors.

AARP points are designed so customer loses it

I had AARP membership & I had lost 6160 points. i had never ever received any email about my points balance & received an email after losing 6160 points saying it got expired. I did reach out to chat Agent to reinstate my points back but she had pointed me to Terms & Conditions - in reality no one looks or fight with Terms & Conditions if the Org is friendly enough & at least provide one time exception.

AARP as a non profit org & the way I got treated no
profitable org also eat away had earned points & point for the first mistake (in case I did but I don't agree as I hadn't receive any notifications
until today)

Don't use the AARP travel service.

I've used AARP/Expedia travel numerous times to make travel arrangements, but will no longer do so. A month ago, we booked a resort for a week in Cancun. I received our confirmation and thought everything was set. A few days before departure, I went to their website to print the itinerary. To my surprise, our resort reservation had been canceled. I immediately called them to find out why it was canceled and why we were never notified. The representative could not tell us why it was canceled, nor why we were not informed. No help at all. I went directly to the resort site, they showed numerous rooms available. We booked a new reservation for the same size room, for the same week, at a lower price. Thankfully, all worked out as we had flight reservations which could not be changed. Will never use AARP/Expedia travel again.

AARP takes money from both sides.

I have been an AARP member for more than 15 years but I cancelled today. They are being paid to endorse United Healthcare Medicare Advantage insurance plans. United Healthcare has been accused of repeatedly delaying and denying appropriate medical care. The latest issue is United Healthcare is accused of paying nursing homes bonuses to not send residents who have United Healthcare Medicare Advantage insurance plans to the hospital when an emergency arises. United Healthcare calls this APK, admissions per thousand. They penalize nursing homes who send too many people to the hospital and they reward with bonuses nursing homes who keep their hospital admissions or transfers low. This is a disgusting practice. I questioned AARP about this and AARP admitted they are paid to endorse United Healthcare and then they tried to distance themselves from the reputation of United Healthcare. In my opinion AARP is not putting seniors first, they appear to be chasing profits at the expense of seniors.

AARP is clueless

I would give zero stars.
I just called AARP to find out as an organization representing 38+ million seniors, what are they doing regarding the elimination of no tax on Social security from the Tax bill in Washington being voted on right now.
You ask them a simple question, they ramble on reading a script that has nothing to do with the questions. The next person a supervisor did the same, telling me to check the AAPR and social security site for answers. Totally clueless.
A totally useless organization collecting money from millions of seniors, doing nothing. Certainly they do not represent me.
As far as the government, the elimination of seniors from the bill, they should be ashamed to treat senior again as second class citizens. A $4,000 "bonus"? Not even applying to each senior? Promisses made, promisses kept? Really?
You have to be a member of AARP if you have United Healthcare in addition to Plan B.

they have the worst healthcare plan

they have the worst healthcare plan. Their deductible is outrageous for your prescriptions. Then you get premiums. Somehow they put me on their system and I didn’t sign up for anything. Had the worst time talking to them. They lied to you. They tell me things transferred over to my other health insurance that I paid $800 for they said oh it moves over that’s bull then they charge me for premiums. I tried to for something I never signed up for, and when I spoke to them, they didn’t even know what they were talking about even when they tried to get you to the supervisor the supervisor had no clue. The worst part is when they lied to me they said it moved over and I knew it did move over and they told me it was for three months then they told me it was for a year the deductible they don’t know what they’re talking about outrageous that these people are dealing with senior citizens lives then they said they were gonna send something in the mail to get my $800 back never saw anything. They tried to tell me that the pharmacy had the money that they had to go get it from them and I’ve heard nothing good about them in car insurance areas too now stay away. They’re only helping their pockets, not the elderly.

THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN TO STOP!

Who do you have to SNAP on to get these heinous harassing people to leave you alone! OMG, I've even written CEO Jo Ann Jenkins (jjenkins at aarp . org) begging them to please delete my information and stop contacting me. She ignored my email. I can't wait for the Class Action Lawsuits and have plenty of Proof for the Legal Team in Defense of the person they've pushed and disrespected to the point of snapping. Seemingly they just don't care. Isn't it against the law to contact someone when they've bagged and pleaded with you to leave them alone!
I'm beyond so sorry I ever gave these careless clueless crooks a dime of my money or a second of my attention.

We joined AARP a few months ago after being promised benefits, plus a free tote bag lol. No benefits that I can see, plus no tote bag. They are trying to get us to spend more money daily on things we don't want or need, such as a safe driving course. Don't waste your money.

Don't ever use AARP because I believe they are not very clear as to their charges. My quote was for $1683.71 which I thought I had paid. Look at my credit card account and AARP had charged me $2517.77 for the trip!! I think they have resolved this but I'm not sure.

My mother passed away 11 years ago. AARP did what they could not to pay my mothers policy. They didn’t pay because she was anemic 😡 they gave me only her premiums back. What a racket. People that pass away don’t know what happens after. AARP IS A JOKE
don’t waste your money on AARP. Find another company. I’m at that age and I want nothing to do with AARP !!

Omg we just found out they cancelled…and we cannot drive

Omg we just found out they cancelled our auto -I had called to find out why and they said we needed to send certain pages that were not signed back in April. I went over to fed ex and sent the SIGNED FORMS BACK IMMEDIATELY. Now they said certain pages were NOT included so the person misinformed us what was supposed to be SENT BACK! so even if we send those pages now our policy is still cancelled! REALLY ONE HAND DOESNT KNOW WHAT THE OTHER IS DOING! Now we cannot even drive until we get new insurance. So when I saw they withdrew more $ from my account that was for the homeowners THAT WE PAID IN FULL FOR THE YEAR BACK IN FEBRUARY bc we had bundled ! Horrible horrible experience! Our credit scores are both in the 800’s and an elderly couple who are retired. Never have we ever had such an experience. DONNOT GO WITH THEM

Shame on you AARP for recommending United Healthcare

Shame on you AARP for recommending & representing United Healthcare! They are the worst worst company ever… High co-pays, high deductibles, they deny about a third of everything. You have to fight with them, try to contact them, United Healthcare is absolutely the worst company ever! You are supposed to be helping seniors! I will be switching back to SCAN next enrollment. However, in the meantime, I am stuck with horrible United Healthcare. Please, any readers,do yourself a favor and do not trust AARP when they recommend such a horrible company!

AARP is not truthful

AARP is not truthful. per their reviews, the Hartford insurance is a legitimate company with a 5 star review.

My vehicle is insured, I asked them to tow my car several times. Everyday I am promised a tow yet my car is still sitting at my home.

I am reporting both AARP and the Hartford to BBB because I pay a premium every month for nothing.

False advertisement on AARP part.

AARP is the biggest rip off ever

AARP is the biggest rip off ever. As of today 4/24/25 they are now charging $20 to renew their crappy membership which I have to have to receive their even crappier and expensive united healthcare and ridiculously overpriced Rx which I don’t even use but mandatory. I will be getting rid of all of it as soon as open enrollment starts in Oct. I’m paying over $350 a month for nothing. They do not help seniors at all. Shame on AARP. Disgusting service and company.
