We learnt a lot.
We signed up to the online Impulse Control Clinic for our rescue Cane Corso. I found it really helpful understanding how some simple techniques could improve our dog’s attention on us. I think there has been improvements in our dogs attention but I think the most improvement has been in my behaviour!
I enjoyed the format of the course and the support from the team is great. I also think it’s great value for money, we enjoyed it so much we’ve signed up for another :)
Highly recommended!
We’ve taken part in 3 clinics over the lockdown period. I have to say I was dubious about how it would work online, but it’s worked really well.
The team are always able to get back to you promptly for feedback and questions and the live sessions each week are also helpful.
It’s nice to see training exercises demonstrated by dogs of different breeds and capabilities. And also watch the videos of others in the group.
The exercises start of simple and easy and gradually become more challenging.
We’ve really enjoyed our clinics and we’re looking forward to being able to take part in some actual face to face workshops soon!
Amazing Online Clinics!
Amazing online clinics! They have allowed us to train our puppy a wide range of commands and obedience from home, making training fun and simple for both us and puppy! The bite-size videos have been easy to follow and the techniques used, effective - the results in our puppy’s obedience have been amazing. It has been invaluable during lockdown to have the help of these amazing trainers. We hope to continue with a third clinic soon - thank you Adolescent Dogs!
We attended the online reactivity…
We attended the online reactivity clinic for some help with our dog Alf.
The format was great with clear and easy to follow videos and really useful theory lessons to help get a better understanding of the training.
We have seen some real improvements in Alf's reactivity but more so in our ability to train him.
Fantastic - highly recommended!
The courses I’ve attended online so far have been fantastic, step by step, clear and very helpful. Any questions I asked were answered quickly and the answer worked! I will be doing more as my puppy grows, that’s for sure.
Thoroughly enjoyed our reactivity…
Thoroughly enjoyed our reactivity clinic, found the videos easy to follow & put into practise. It’s nice that the fb page stays open so I can refer back to videos at any time. Thank you
So glad I found adolescent dogs!
Amazing, I done the online clinics and was really happy with the support given, nothing is ever too much trouble! The weekly live sessions were great and you are able to ask questions that directly relate to your problems or concerns. The videos are super easy to follow and the lectures are given with great detail. They really do know what they are talking about. I’m glad I found adolescent dogs!
Online Facebook Clinics
I subscribed to some of the Facebook clinics. It's been great to be able to do training at our own pace. The videos are clear and easy to understand. Would definitely recommend!

subscribed to the reactivity clinic in April 2020. Very useful and helpful. Nice demonstration of the techniques and good backing up of practical with theory and lectures. My dog is alot better on the lead and more trusting of people. My dog actually listens to me and enjoys the scent work and commands I do with him. Others have noticed a positive change in my dog's behaviour and so have I. Thank you xx
Wouldn’t bother
Wouldn’t bother. Paid a lot of money as they claim to be able to work wonders. Unless your dog has basic training needs I wouldn’t bother. My dog we recused as a puppy from aboard. The dog was found with his litter so thankfully had been found at the right time and a very young age. The charity kept him safe until he was old enough to travel. Very quickly we realised he had separation anxiety and we looked for help on this as his problems were clearly causing him a lot of upset. We spoke to this company in depth and it was agreed a stay of a few weeks was needed in order to help his needs. We visited family aboard while our dog went away to get the help from this company. Less than a week in I received a message to say could we collect our dog as the so called trainer couldn’t get my dog to sleep in a crate. I was furious as we have made it very clear when speaking to the trainer that he does not cope with a crate environment and must never be put in one. He gets so stressed he hurts himself out of panic. This was agreed prior but they still put him in a crate every night and then wondered why he wouldn’t settle and was so distressed. I complained and I was told this was in the contract. So we sent them a copy of our contract and at this time there was no mention of a crate. In fact there was a section where we had written “must not be put in a crate as causes distress”. We were then told that was a mistake by the trainer to agree to have him as that is there conditions but not in our contract.
We had to fly home from our holiday and have our dog returned, he had lost weight through stress and was extremely unsettled and nervous. We were outraged and again complained. After sometime and us stating we would take legal action, they refunded us. This didn’t solve our problems and our dog was now needing far more help than before he went to them. I left a review on their Facebook page and I’ve just noticed after checking a good while after that they’ve removed their review option as clearly don’t want people to see. They claim that rescue dogs from aboard have trauma from their pasts and need more intense work, our dog was recused a day old so hasn’t experienced any trauma and just needed help with his anxiety which they made worse. Unless you need help with basic commands then I wouldn’t bother going here.
Update after reading owners laughable reply.
You were told when we booked that patch was to NOT be in a crate. This was added onto our booking form as our request, you took the Booking knowing this and NEVER informed us of any different. You even stated you needed to update your contract to state they must be in a crate at night AFTER patch was returned home.
Like others on here have stated you lie beyond belief for a company that are meant to be professionals but clearly are not. Far more interested in the money than the well-being of the dog. Patch was skinny after such a short time and needed specialist food to gain his weight back, which others on here have stated too. You clearly have a problem with telling the truth and I’m surprised you’re still running after so many complaints. As others have stated so much false information on your site and when you do not like reviews on your Facebook you just delete them. I pity anyone who sends their loved pet to you. Don’t feel the need to reply as you are incapable of telling the truth.

2 weeks in and great results!
We booked the Naughty Dog online clinic at adolescent dogs for my 2 yr old Whippet. He needed to improve on his recall, countersurfing, boundary training and leave-it training. The clinic is easy to navigate and I love the fact that the trainers give you feedback on the training videos you post of your dog. I can confidently say that Tim is a better behaved dog and loves the training activities they teach you. I've already booked the reactivity clinic and can't wait to start!
Puppy in Lockdown Clinic
We brought home our little puppy on 21st March just at the start of the lockdown. Initially we were considering to train him by watching YouTube videos but then we realised that we needed more than that. We now feel that signing up for the puppy clinic was the best thing we have done. It was great 4 weeks training not just for the puppy but for us all! It was really good that the videos were not too long, straight to the point and at the same time giving enough information; explaining not just how but also why we do something. We also loved the lectures and we were impressed how quickly the questions were answered by Jenny and Mike at all times. We are now going to do the Ultimate recall and Lead pulling clinic. Can't wait to start!
Puppy clinic
I would wholeheartedly recommend the online puppy training clinic. We have learnt so many useful cues and tips that my 16 week old cockerdor puppy has enjoyed learning. A brilliant start and I look forward to the next clinic 😊
Fantastic Residential Dog Training
We booked in our 6month old GoldenDoodle for a 3 week residential training stay with Bekki in Southampton From Adolescent Dogs. Before the stay our home had become very chaotic as the young puppy was busy bullying our toddler and 13 year old lab, everyone was very stressed and I felt totally out of my depth on training and how to resolve the unwanted behaviour. This was without a doubt the best decision we could have made. After 3 weeks with Bekki, Zelda returned home a much much calmer dog and is now a total delight to share a home with. Instantly the dominating had totally stopped, she now settles beautifully in the home. Walking is no longer a stressful chore and I’m back to feeling excited about getting out for a calming stroll. There are still a few training areas we want to progress that given lockdown weren’t able to be that successful, so have booked Zelda back in for a top up stay once public areas start to reopen so she can work on distraction training. Our trainer is just awesome, felt instantly reassured that Zelda was being well cared for, lots of updates, and has been available for checkins post training to ensure we stay on track. The online training videos are also an amazing resource that are helping me maintain the training. Would highly recommend this service.
Happy Cockapoo Puppy
We brought home a cockapoo puppy at the end of December and very quickly started weekly 1-2-1 training sessions with Libby. This gave our puppy a great starting point with the simplest obedience skills such as knowing his own name, sit and down. Little Fred then went to stay with Verity for a 2 week intensive boarding course and he did brilliantly. We received daily updates and photos to let us know how he was getting on. We then had two handover lessons after Fred's stay to train us humans. I think it's important to keep in mind that the training doesn't end when the dog comes home. It is still a lot of hard work to keep it up and reinforce the behaviours learned during a workshop or a residential stay. We have found the process challenging but very rewarding. We adore our little Fred and look forward to attending some workshops with him in the future. Thank you Libby and Verity!
Adolescent dogs trained our two adult…
Adolescent dogs trained our two adult Labradors to behave better in public. We sent the dogs on a residential course with trainer Bekki - who worked very professionally with them. Bekki clearly loves dogs and by the end of the course had made great progress. She was realistic about what could and couldnt be achieved in the time available. Adolescent Dogs has some great training videos which have helped us to better understand what we need to do to reinforce Bekki's training.
10/10 would recommend Adolescent Dogs!
If your pup (of any age) needs any kind of training I would 100% recommend Adolescent Dogs, especially Kassie! My sweet Buki was never a bad pup but he did 2 weeks residential training with Kassie while my husband and I were away. As soon as we met Kassie began informing me of little things she noticed and could tell she would need to work on with Buki and throughout his training she provided feedback and updates. Buki, who was 15 weeks at the time, learned so much and grew more confident. Buki loved Kassie and you could tell how much she cared for him while we were away which is my priority. They provide so many sources and ways for you to prep your dog for his/her stay and then to continue to train your dog afterwards. We were very impressed with their services and professionalism. They know dogs, they know their craft and they also help owners be the best parents to their pups. They give you realistic feedback and advice. We are already planning the next time we take Buki back. They offer many different training services so they are definitely someone to checkout for any kinds of training needs.
Kassie was amazing at Adolescent Dogs
Our 12 week old cocker spaniel puppy was put into a two week train and board with trainer Kassie. We could not take him to Ireland with us for Xmas so we were a bit anxious about putting him into board. Kassie was amazing how she cared for him in her own house. Kassie kept us updated during the stay with pictures, videos and daily updates which put our minds at ease. When we picked Cody up he had learnt so much during his stay ( sit, down, middle, heal, recall, lead walking and general engagement was much improved). Kassie also focussed on him becoming more aware of new environments which helped make him a more confident pup ! The two handover sessions were great with lots of detail shared. I would highly recommend Adolescent Dogs and Kassie was amazing.
Fantastic training!
Our Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy went on the Collect and Train program with Jolene for 3 weeks. Prior to the training Simba would pull on walks (which weren’t very fun!) jump at any opportunity and do his on thing when called! Jolene was fantastic, came to our house to meet us and Simba before training and went through our ‘wish list’! It was evident that Simba loves his training sessions and came back exhausted! After the training walks were more pleasurable and we were all able to function better as a unit! I would highly recommend Adolescent Dogs, the handovers have been fantastic and have given us a great start!
Warning County Court Judgement.
I booked our two dogs for two weeks home boarding and training for our younger dog for late June 2019.
After paying a £1400 deposit I contacted the company on multiple occasions to set up a meeting with the trainer “Ola” and to request the trainers contact details. Jenny Trigg refused to either set up the agreed meeting or provide any contact information; insisting that the trainer would contact us. We had agreed as a condition of our booking in a telephone conversation with Libby Trigg that we would meet with the trainer at least one month prior to the start of of the booking dates.
We received no contact prior to the deadline and so booked with another trainer and demanded a refund.
Jenny Trigg (the owner and co-director) responded by claiming that the trainer had sent emails, argued that their communication was excellent and attempted to continue as if we would proceed with the booking.
I had to send a second email spelling out in no uncertain terms that we would not be using their service and demanding a refund.
Jenny Trigg’s next response was to attempt to blame us for her own shortcomings and offered a 50% refund as a “good will gesture”. Ms Trigg also attempted to justify her behaviour by claiming that the document they referred to as a “booking form” was a legally binding contract.
Unbeknownst to Jenny Trigg I have dealt with high value contracts for almost two decades and the document she referred to as a “contract” carries no legal weight. It is devoid of any of the required information for a legally binding contract and is a childish attempt to indemnify the company of all future wrong doing (most shockingly for starving your dog). I have never read a more pathetic excuse for a contract; neither have I ever encountered a less transparent contract being presented in business.
At this stage I had also researched other customers negative experiences and was unsurprised to see a pattern of behaviour whereby Adolescent Dogs has attempted to absolve themselves of all blame when things so wrong and they appear to be incapable of taking responsibility for their own shortcomings. More disturbingly I discovered that the company has often sought to bully and belittle consumers who complain.
At this point in time I resolved to teach these thieves a lesson. I am fortunate enough to have the means and the knowledge to dismantle any feeble arguments that they might attempt. I was aware others might feel less equipped to take legal action and I was 100% confident that I would recover my money as the proverbial deck was stacked heavily in my favour.
I emphatically declined their “offer” and informed Ms Trigg that if my money was not refunded in full within 14 days that I would take them to Court.
Jenny Trigg failed to repay our deposit by the deadline set and so I filed and served a claim using the online money claims service (a service that is remarkably simple to use and is a credit to the UK’s legal system).
Upon receiving the claim Adolescent Dogs other co- director Mike Newland submitted a grandstanding response in which he had the audacity to claim that the company had never received a complaint of this nature. In doing so he had immediately committed perjury as multiple similar complaints exist online.
I have not laughed so hard in a long time.
Following filing of the claim both parties are sent a questionnaire which must be completed and sent to both the court service and the other party.
Unsurprisingly Mike Newland failed to answer all of the questions (the company ignored every question I asked after making my booking) and so I raised a point of order to draw attention to their failure (more on this later).
At this stage both parties are asked whether they accept using the court mediation service. I declined as I was aware that in doing so the case would be less likely to be assigned a hearing date until after this was completed but that it would be likely mandated by the presiding judge. Mediation was indeed recommended after the County Court and hearing date were assigned.
I consented to the mediation as I was advised that the judge would likely ask if I had afforded Adolescent Dogs a further opportunity to settle the claim. I was sceptical of entering into mediation as it was clear that Adolescent Dogs had no intention of refunding our money in full. Unsurprisingly Mike Newland attempted to offer the same amount that I had previously declined and so it was a very short mediation. As Einstein is credited with saying “the definition of insanity is repeating the same behaviour and expecting a different result”.
I was confident in winning my case but I also wanted to ensure a CCJ would appear on the defendants credit records. I was aware that by going to court that the amount of debt would increase as I would be paying the hearing fees. Hurting Adolescent Dogs more as they would be losing their money as opposed to stealing mine.
The penultimate stage of the small claims process is filing and serving the documents to both parties and the court.
Mike Newland clearly had not read the courts instructions which directed both parties to file and serve paper copies of documents and that electronic submissions were not valid and send his bundle by email the evening before the deadline. Upon receiving this I burst out laughing at his incompetence.
Mike Newland was swiftly informed the next day by the court that electronic submissions were not permitted and so missed the deadline to file and serve.
I gleefully wrote another letter to the court drawing attention to the fact that Adolescent Dogs had failed to meet the deadline. This only served to strengthen my case as again it highlighted Adolescent Dogs were incapable of following others directions and meeting a deadline.
Three days later I received a bundle from the defendant and was unsurprised to learn that, having received my bundle before the deadline, they attempted to add additional documents not in the email submission in an attempt to tailor evidence. The bundle also included a cover sheet where Mike Newland attempted to blame an unnamed member of the court service for missing the deadline who he claimed had told him that electronic submissions were “ok” in a telephone conversation the day before the deadline.
I telephoned the court service to verify whether any such telephone conversation had taken place and to make them aware of the allegation made against them. No record of the defendant telephoning the court service exists on the day Mike Newland claimed to have telephoned. The court service employee I spoke to was more than happy to send me an email stating this fact for me to pass on to the presiding judge. It is unsurprising that again Adolescent Dogs attempted to blame somebody else for their mistake.
I also discovered that my previous petition to the court had be named “harassment emails” as a file in the evidence submitted by Mike Newland. Again I was in stitches laughing. It is common practice to copy the other party into communication with a court of law. The fact that Adolescent Dogs thought that somehow this constituted harassment is hilarious. A person must have a very warped sense of right and wrong when they steal from somebody and cry victim when the wronged party takes legal action.
Armed with the knowledge that Mike Newland was stupid enough to attempt to tailor evidence and was again blaming others for his shortcomings I again sent a letter to the court and included the helpful email from the court service employee that exposed another lie.
Prior to the hearing I received a letter from the court service advising me that as a hearing date had been set and that as the claim was defended that no default judgement would be issued. I was also informed that a N225 form was needed to issue a default judgement rather than a letter.
I telephoned the court service to enquire where I might find the form and was advised that as a default judgement could be appealed I would save time by attending a hearing. The court service also informed me that the defendant was most upset having received copies of my petitions. Poor Mike Newland getting caught out in yet another lie. Hearing this news brought a wry smile to my face.
On the day of the hearing I was directed to a waiting room at Guildford County Court where half a dozen people were smartly dressed in suits, shirts and ties. One person clearly did not understand the value of dressing formally for court and the value of first impressions. Mike Newland was slouched on a seat wearing a hoodie, jeans and trainers. His dishevelled appearance was equally comical and moronic.
The hearing itself was over before it began. The judge asked Mike Newland if he had bothered to read any of the pertinent legislation I referred to in my evidence. Unsurprisingly Mike Newland had not. The judge immediately awarded me the full amount of my claim plus interest and the court fees.
Jenny Trigg and Mike Newland have been tried tested and found wanting. They now have a CCJ against them. I personally telephoned the credit rating agencies immediately after my hearing to ensure that this information appears on their credit file. I took great glee in doing so as a CCJ is a matter of public record.
Hopefully this will teach both Jenny Trigg and Mike Newland a lesson that they will not forget and in future they will treat consumers with the respect they deserve and take responsibility for any mistakes they make. Every person makes mistakes but how we respond to them defines our character and trustworthiness.
If Adolescent Dogs do not change their behaviour then they should know that there is always a bigger bully out there who won’t be easily intimidated.
