Communication is non existent, once they get the contract! Doubled price after quote and the company outsources, without telling you. Exorbitant costs for supplies! BEWARE!

This was the worst costumer experience I have every received. On the pick up end of the process they were 3 hours late and failed to notify me until I called them, after already pushing off pick up by a day. Then they charged me extra for supplies and long distance travel even though I gave them the pick up location before my quote and nothing was mentioned about that.

The drop off end of things was even worse.. I did not hear anything from the company until they asked for the drop off location, which I had shared with them twice before. Then I got hit with another fee since their truck "couldn't safely get there" even though it could. They have been extremely rude, ignoring my continuous mentioning of not being able to be home until 5pm and just continue to tell me they can't do that and trying to get me to pay now.

They use having all your belonings as a chance to force you to pay $1,000 extra on top of what you were quoted when you've already given them all the information.

Fees doubled, estimated delivery time doubled. SCAMMERS
Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for decent service. I didn’t receive it here.
No customer service available. They only answer the phone to sell, get you to sign the contract then - no answer.

Why can’t I give this trash company a negative 10!?!? They suck. They lie about everything and then won’t answer your calls. They will put you on hold for hours and never come to the phone. They are the worst people
I have ever worked with. Bar none!!!

.American way took the stress out of our move. We simply provided them with an accurate list of inventory. I over estimated our box count by 20 additional boxes. The morning of the move the guys showed up promptly. They were in uniform. First they did a walk through photographing everything for a PDF that was given to us. They simply protectively wrapped every single piece of furniture. TV’s in boxes. Mattress’s in covers. Every was wrapped, loaded, and secured down. We actually were over estimated by 45 cubic feet. That came rate off the remaining balance. The driver remained in constant contact calling with updates everyday on the 2100 mile trip. When they arrived a day early they unloaded and re staged our furniture where we wanted it to go. Nothing missing, damaged etc. After tipping the guys $200 each for there hard work. Give American way moving a shot you will not be disappointed. If they can take care of this grumpy Veteran they can take care of anyone.

Their process is a scam. They way underestimate your cubic footage , then blame it on you . Once that have you over a barrel, you have no choice but to pay up. Go directly to the movers, don’t use brokers.

I’ve moved a couple of times before, and it seems like things are never smooth. Chris made the process very simple and easy to understand. I had to change my date for the move a couple of times and they were very accommodating and worked around the mess I had going on. Chris and Anthony answered the phone whenever I called and made it clear communication is the most important thing when ensuring a smooth process. My wife is disabled and the crew was incredibly courteous when they arrived and even had extra room to add a desk we had forgotten about in the basement to the truck. I’d use them again in a heart beat

I was a previous customer of American Way Moving and recommended them on several occasions to neighbors and friends. I would not do so in the future.

My estimate was shockingly off. I was honest about the inventory I had and about the locations I was moving to. However, the move took several more hours than the estimate.

Just be aware that your move may end up costing you hundreds of dollars more than the estimate and they either aren't being honest about the time it will actually take or they're very bad at estimating the time it will actually take. They will not do anything to fix the error on their end afterwards.

I hired 3 men. One of them was looking for excuses to not work. They were not careful with furniture. Some of the furniture like dryer / washer/ refrigerator was not wrapped and left with scratches on it. They didn't even had tools to disassemble my furniture. They borrowed it from me and on top of that they never returned my tools either.

I am really disappointed with this company. I used them before and had a great experience. However this time was horrible!!!!! First off I told them everything I had for them to move (including exercise equipment) they sent the smallest truck!!!! Also they damaged some of my furniture which they did not wrap properly!!! The wood floors in my new place was also damaged with tons of scratches!!! (Which I will be charged for). I have tried to be patient for them to give me a call but nothing!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! I was only supposed to be charged $286 and I end up being charged an extra $200.

I was quoted for 2 movers with an estimate of 3.5 hours, $790, but on the day of the move there were 3 movers that took over 6 hours so the cost ended up being $1067 total. In addition to that, my $2500 television that is less than a year old was damaged to the point of being completely broken and inoperable. The corner was crushed and deformed, the screen cracked and damaged so it won't even turn on anymore. With their coverage policy they say they owe me $0.60 per pound ie $60 but they would give me $400 as goodwill. It's not just surface damage, it was broken beyond repair and needs to be replaced. With the damages added to the cost of the move, plus their $400 "gesture", this takes my quoted cost from $790 to $3167.

****STAY AWAY****I worked with them on my initial move (from home to storage) and the movers were great HOWEVER, mileage was overcharged (mistakes happen). When working on my second move (storage to new home), I paid a deposit and then had to cancel(due to safety concerns). Well this is where ‘he’s’ true self emerged! He refused to credit back the deposit (CLAIMED that deposits are ‘non refundable’ yet NONE of our correspondences say so) OR the original $22(overcharge) from the first bill! I have ALL of the proof -msg me for it if you’d like! I was not going to dispute the $22 but now I am disputing the FULL $122 with my bank and square! I’ve given all info to my bank (screenshots and invoices) and should receive a refund soon.

How can this company improve you ask? They should be burnt to the ground!

Nothing but theives! My mother passed away this past August, and I told them that, but since they are heartless and cold pieces of sh**, they ripped me off in a big way!
I received a price of $2,500, with me boxing/packing my mother's house up myself, having saved up enough money for another move I had to do at the same time, in another state all together (which has yet to be done), my moms passing was very unexpected. I paid them 50% up front, with the balance to be paid once they drove across the country to deliver my things. I flew to my mothers and they showed up (another moving company, by the way) with half a 25' truck already half loaded with someone elses material!!! I was told everything would not fit and that it was half full because they were told I had less than what I had (about half less) and I had more than the square footage of the material we discussed over the phone. I don't know who "Daniel" talked too, but it certainly was not me!!!
The movers who came also said they needed $950.00 upfront and the balance when they delivered my materials! Wait a minute! NO, that is not correct! I explained to them over and over and I got no, no , no.
At that point in between bouts of tears and sobbing about even being at my moms and she was gone because she was my whole entire world and i was doing this alone and I was devastated and could NOT believe this was happening. I called several hundred times, over and over and over. My friend "Daniel" who gave me the quote, would see my number and just pick up his line and hang it up. I did receive an answer "ONE" time from a prick named "Scott" and he denied everything that was on my quote, which I had by the way - he was extremely rude, blah blah, he told me i should talk to Daniel, i told him that isn't working because they were ripping me off!!

Long story short, they insisted I told them the wrong square footage and that i was told about the driver needing money etc etc. We DID NOT DISCUSS square footage, we discussed quantity of materials, ONLY. As in approximately how many boxes, beds, furniture, etc. which was by the way listed on the contract, Was correct! They did also have a price for square footage, which i calculated and IT DID NOT COME OUT CORRECTLY!! I even told them both (Scott and Daniel (by voice mail)) this and I was still wrong. I asked him what i was supposed to do with the balance of my moms things with only half a truck available to me? He said they could give me another price! WHAT???#$$#@@#$ I don't think so!!

I had to leave half of everything and pay the movers that came, after even getting extremely nasty with them, but turns out it was not their fault. American Way are CROOKS! I flew home and then went back, rented a storage, then flew to the place where I initially had to move to at least get my car drove back to my moms from there. A friend of mine reccommended some friends of hers and they said they would make the drive with their truck and load it up and bring it home to where i currently live and I would drive back.

They came a couple days late, not that big of a deal considering, and their truck also had material in it!!! I walked away. I'm not going to get into their issues, but all in all with the second, almost half full truck and the cost of their fuel to drive cross country their estimate was waaaaay off I was told on the last stint of them getting there. Their price was about 1 1/2 times more than what they figured after i had asked my friend over and over that I thought it wasn't enough. I mean they had to eat and sleep right? Well

My original price of $2,500 was about approximately in the end about 7K. Flights, extra driving and fuel to fly to get my car, extra money for fuel for the 2nd truck to get back, and all the heartache and on top of that I had to leave things behind. I could not stuff my car any fuller than it was. The heartache was the worst feeling I have every felt, and right at the holidays. I am now paying for a huge storage space and still don't have my 3 bedroom house full of stuff yet!

I feel like a fool!!

We used this company about 1 week ago. My husband spoke with the "manager" who negotiated a deal and assured him he would waive the trip charge since we were literally moving next door. My husband requested 3 men and agreed to pay the extra fee $95/hr in hopes this would speed up the move. When they arrived they had 2 men and a boy (17 yr old young man), problem #1. They then proceeded to fill half the truck to transport to the new place, I later realized was a stall attempt since the relocation was so close. Long story short 12 HOURS LATER I PULLED THE PLUG! At 10:00pm I asked them to wrap it up after much time spent wasted. At that time they demanded cash as payment and we were told if a card was used we would have a 10% fee. Not only did my husband and I have to ride around to different banks to withdraw the Money he also charged us the trip charge, of $45 that he initially agreed not to, for traveling a total of 6 miles. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Very unprofessional, dishonest, and expensive for sup-par service.

I was scammed out of my deposit and now I have to pursue legal action.
Incident Description
The total move was to pick up from storage, drive 800 miles, and unload at destination. A mover showed up and said that the job was only for half the cubic feet even though the deal / original quote and confirmation with "quality assurance" was for two storage units for pick-up. They had me on hold for many hours and I had to hang up. At first a lady answered and then immediately hung up on me while the movers were still there. I had to abandon the move and they completely scammed me. The moving papers disappeared from the links in my emails. They tried to get the move date pushed up which I never agreed to. The mover tried to charge me thousands of dollars more and said he was brokered to move less than half the specified cubic feet, even though as mentioned the dimensions of the units. They refuse to return the deposit and now I am taking legal action. If anyone has an experience like this, we can add this testimony to the case.

Got a quote today. I was tempted but did my research and found the reviews here. Everything people have complained about is something the rep said other companies do but they don't. The rep was heavily pushing for a deposit which was 46% of the total cost. A reputable company should only ask up to 25% of the total as a deposit. The rep also used foul language more than once while talking to me.

Do not use !!!! These guys are horrible, the quoted price is bullshit. They show up the day of the move and hit you with thousands of dollars in extra fees, you have to pay the balance of the charges before they will unload at your new house. Lots and lots of damages to the furniture and both houses, dented walls, broken thresholds on the doors, things not reassembled. None of them speak English or say they don’t.
The insurance for broken and damaged items is a joke, very slow, very complicated and after it’s all over they offered us $60.00 yes 60.00
It cost almost 2000,00 to repair the walls and the exterior door thresholds not to mention the broken and damaged furniture

We were quoted 4k$ for a move and ended up being charged over 11k$.

If they are veteran owned it is a very dishonorable veteran.

Furthermore they refused to weigh my house hold goods which they promised they would weigh… these weights are the only way to get reimbursed by the military.

A bunch of Russian guys moved us - very weird vibes.

Do not use this company. They will tell you you can get a refund and they will not. I canceled with in an hour of sending them a deposit and told me i would have the money refunded. And now they will not refund your money.

Zero star, this company sent another carrier company who asked $3200 more than Original contract, I originally had 3bids from movers and they were in the middle, I intentionally avoided the low bid, Chris the sales man assured me several times if I had 10×15 storage 75% full, no issues when they pick up, prior to sign the contract and doing the Ach transfer, this company never called to ask my new address to move or pick up time till I called them in the afternoon prior to the pick up date, I was very concerned and had red flag about this unusual behavior, the women who answer the phone hung up on me several times and then proceeded not answer my calls without ever getting my new address, I believe this company never intended to honor the contract and planed on ripp off the deposit scheme from the begining, when I refused to pay $3200 more asked by their Sub carriers, I was told I will lose my deposit of $1300 by someone claiming their answering service, Neither the sales men or the staff of the company was not available when I had issues with their Sub carrier company, I flew from SC to CA in 4 days window to ship my stuffs, I was under tremendous stress and now I have to deal leagal with this fraud on line mover so called "American Way Movers"
