Further legal action may be necessary to get our delivery.
We were quoted approximately $6,000 (after fully itemizing everything in our 3 bedroom house) for a move from Massachusetts to Missouri. Upon arrival of the truck on 6/10/24 we were told that we were allotted for 1100 cubic feet which barely held our living room items. (They did actually bring a truck big enough for all of our items - intentional lower estimate?) but would have to charge us more now. The new price….over $11,000! We were also guaranteed over the phone that our items would not be put in any storage area and would immediately be on the road for delivery. Delivery date scheduled for 6/12/24. It is now 6/16/24 and we have called daily for updates with no return calls. We have emailed. My kids have no beds to sleep on. My work clothes/items are in that truck. Our furniture. Our sentimental items. Now we have no communication??? Our next steps are police reports, news stations and attorney.
This is not a moving company
This is not a moving company! It is a broker that hires a moving company. Most likely one you would never choose. I was paired with Master moving. They have 1.7 star rating on Google. I’m now dealing with stolen items, broke items, and a delivery shakedown. I paid significantly over the estimate also. Also- if you notice the reviews are either amazing or horrible. The good reviews are most likely employees trying to keep this operation in business. Please don’t make my mistake. Look elsewhere
DO NOT USE!!!
DO NOT USE!!!! SCAM!!! This company and its employees are scam artists. Daniel Williams, our sales associate is a liar and a cheat. He starts by calling non stop and tells you that his team are all veterans and that they have a truck going to your area in a week. He then quotes you a way cheaper price then you’ll find anywhere else and hounds you into signing it and sending a deposit right away. He says that the movers will be his team and they are “veterans” so they are good people. It’s all a lie. They are a brokerage company and will not be the ones moving your stuff. They then have you tell them all the things you are going to be moving and quote you an even higher price a couple days before. It is still cheaper than what the other companies quotes are. They say that their estimate is based off of your amount of items is “extremely accurate”. That is a lie. On the day of the move, they hired a completely different company to take your stuff. Those movers will say a ridiculously higher price than what you were quoted and they won’t even take all your things. Dan Williams will never answer his phone again as if he no longer exists. Was he even real? Was he even a veteran? Did his son even break his leg? Or was that all lies to get us to sign. American Way Moving’s customer service will then say that of course they are a brokerage company and they will give you a fake number for the actual moving company. They were completely disrespectful every time we called and eventually started to screen calls. At this point we had no idea where our stuff was. We were paying thousands of dollars more than the original quote and no one was answering the phone. The new moving company’s phone number that American Way gave us went directly to voice mail and then said the voice mail box was full. At this point we called American Way yet again and they finally gave us a new phone number to someone that actually existed. We found out our stuff was in a storage unit it the original city and they had no idea when they would find someone to move it to our destination. It took nearly a month of calling every week to finally find out that it was on its way. Finally, the day comes for it to be delivered and we are given a window of 12pm - 4pm. 3:30pm comes around and we’ve heard nothing. So we reach out and the new time is 6pm - 8pm. It gets to 7:30pm and still nothing. We reach out again and they say “you’re ok with a late delivery right?” The late delivery ended up being 12am. We were also then told that we’d need to pay an extra $486 for a smaller truck. They wouldn’t give us our stuff until we paid them all that extra money. Our stuff arrived damaged and completely filthy. Some things aren’t even salvageable. American Way never told us we would need to pay so much more money. Do not use, do not trust. They will scam, steal, and lie to you. They are the worst company you could ever think to work with. They shouldn’t be a company. 0/5 no stars I hope they go bankrupt.
Laura
First, American Way Moving is not who actually moves you. They send a 3rd party out, which is NEVER made clear. Nor is the fact that you will be charged for how much space you use in the truck. So the quote they gave me was BS, I had to pay an additional $700 to get my stuff delivered.
Never use this company, they are scammer, fraudulent, liars.
I moved from California to Florida…
I moved from California to Florida working with Fred and Dan. My move went great without a hitch, they actually got it done quicker than expected. I was really nervous about about using a moving company with some of the horror stories I heard. American way did a wonderful job. Definitely ask for Fred or Dan.
SUPER disappointed
Horrible experience all the way around. Listen. Im a nurse. If I did my job the way these guys do, I'd have lost my license by now. Cameron caught my attention with, "we love our veterans and essential workers". Shameful. Whatever you are quoted, plan on paying double and having it in cash ready to hand over. I was very careful not to add anything after the quote, and did not. I even had 5 less boxes than what was quoted. They still doubled the price when they came for my stuff. There are so many things, I can't list them all here. I will drag each box myself on foot from NC to Ohio before I hire movers again. Nobody knows who is doing what, nor when it can be done. 5 hours late on pick up. Communication is slow, incomplete, and difficult. They never gave me a copy of the contract, nor took inventory or stickered my boxes. When I finally got my stuff delivered, there were TWO lounge chairs missing. Boxes crushed, mattress covers, that were mandatory for "my safety" were torn and open. When asked about the missing chairs, the dude says, "Im just the mover, you will have to call the company".
He's just THE MOVER LOL. Not sure what movers do i guess, my bad. I guess I would like to have a job where I can duck up everyone's chit, demand my cash, and not have any responsibility. ...Nah, prob not. The new American dream. Get yours no matter who you have to chit on to get it;)
These guys did a great job
These guys did a great job. Got all my things set up well and no damage at a lower cost than any other bid. Can not recommend enough!
Had a good experience with this…
Had a good experience with this company. Fred Fasone was very personable and helpful. The move went very smooth. All of our items remained in good condition, and I would definitely recommend their services. If you are looking for a reliable moving company go with American Way Moving.
Thank You Team!!
American Way Moving are the genuine article; their professionalism is off the park, and the team they contain is super good. Every member of the staff has got years of experience and expertise in packing, delivery and settling things safely. They managed my relocation securely despite the challenges. Highly recommended.
Take the time to do it right.
Not only did Anthony take the time to calculate the cubic footage by the dimensions of each item, he was also able to get me a fair rate and a veteran discount for our move from California to Texas. He even taught me how to stop the countless calls from other moving companies that almost had me change my number. From the day I booked all the way to our drop off date he answered any and all questions professionally and patiently. Last time I moved, I rushed through the inventory and it went horribly. This time, he patiently took me room to room to do the calculations with me and the move could not have gone any smoother. Lesson learned, take the time to do it right because the time you saved is not worth the cost of a rushed job.
A Poor Company that provides below average moving services.
3/26-4/20
A poor Company that provides below average moving services.
***. Communications Poor, a troubling Issue.
Before I begin my review, a little about me:
I am a Retired US Navy Storekeeper, 21 years. I am a professional expert in procurement, packing, shipping, receiving, transportation, warehousing, inventory management and control, hazmat, financial management, contracting , logistics, etc.
This is a professional and experienced detailed evaluation of American Way Movers. With my experience, overall it is a poor company with serious communications and customer service issues. you really should read my entire review.
American Way movers is a moving brokerage company out of Pompano Beach, Florida. They are fully licensed and registered with the US Department of Transportation. They did not actually move my household goods but subcontracted it out to Ryder Relocations based in New Jersey at a lower rate. This should be very important to you so be sure to ask whom is actually doing the transporting.
I called around several other moving companies for quotes, the average was $5500. I did save around $1000 but the headaches weren't worth the savings. This was an estimate for a two bedroom house and more than likely your final bill will be much more than any quote especially if you have a larger household. ADDITIONALLY, nearly every larger company tried to convince me that the amount of people moving around was greater than it actually is and some wanted to charge me extra for expedited services. Those other companies falsely stating that they were extremely busy and could not meet my time frame unless I paid extra. American Way Movers gave me a lower quote, was up front with the fact that they are also a brokerage, was able to meet my requested pick up dates without additional charge, and as I mentioned they can probably provide lower industry prices due to contracts they may have in place.
My move consisted of a two bedroom house with garage 1100 miles and was based on cubic footage. KEEP IN MIND, BY LAW, A MOVER OR BROKERAGE COMPANY CANNOT CHARGE YOU FOR CUBIC FOOTAGE AND WEIGHT AT THE SAME TIME. IT IS EITHER ONE OR THE OTHER. This option should be offered to you and agreed upon before you make any deposits. READ YOUR CONTRACT and bill of laden thoroughly before you sign.
Long haul moving is not cheap ! Some may think a DIY move is more cost-effective, but when you factor in rentals, personal labor and time, fuel, mileage, and insurance costs, hotels, meals, and the stresses of moving out of one place into another within set time frames, and physically packing and moving belongings around yourself, I believe it is much more worthwhile and cost-effective to contract a company to do that for you. Most people just do not have the time nor manpower to cut costs. With that in mind, My initial contact with the company was with a representative named Daniel Williams. Daniel was professional and pleasant and he quoted me a fair estimate price for my move based on the majority of items I described to him. An initial down payment of $1,000 was required at the time of booking and I was also provided a sizable veteran discount. Other discounts might apply so be sure to ask. A second contact was with a company representative named JJ. He went over my general inventory and inquired about any items, services, and materials I had not noted during my initial contact. Based on additional items, materials, and services requested, an additional $500 was required. The ryder moving crew was very good. 3 weeks down the road after several phone calls and correspondence AWM called to state they could not cash my money order and would have to return it to me which was just more headaches canceling the money order then getting a new one paid out to Ryder. I would not recommend this company whatsoever. You'll get nothing communication wise and headaches.

If I could give them 0 stars
If I could give them 0 stars, that is what they deserve. I paid $968.00 down to move my stuff that they said they could move. Turns out that was not true. Now they will not refund my money.
Absolutely terrible from start to…
Absolutely terrible from start to finish! Fred is a con artist of the worst kind. Blatantly lied to us about many important factors concerning our long distance move and was conveniently never available to take our calls when problems arose. We were told by the actual movers that our things would be in storage for up to 30 days and the move would cost double what was quoted. We had no choice but to pay it and they demanded cash only which was completely contrary to what Fred had assured us. Some very expensive items were badly damaged when our things finally arrived and that "mover" claimed to know nothing about it or filing claims. Once again a shoddy company doing very bad business! This was not our first long distance move but by far the worst!
Shady Company and Cons as brokers
This is probably the most shadiest moving company I have ever came across. Talk to the guy Anthony on multiple occasions and the only reason I am giving them 2 stars because even though the movers were late they did show up and do a great job. But this con man Anthony quoted me a price for about 700 cubic feet for a 3 bedroom house. 700 cubic barely would fit my living room furniture. When I questioned him about this he tried to act like it was the driver's that limited me to this space. Worst part is that while on the phone with this loser I told him multiple times what I needed and what I was looking for and he guaranteed me a price that wasn't even plausible and I end up having to pay over 3000 dollars more, which I only did because I was really in a bind. If you have to deal with this guy I would not believe a word he says and I would always go with the second opinion.
American Way Movers Stay Away from them!!!
About a month ago, we contacted American Way Movers to move our belongings from my parents' house in Texas to Wisconsin. We had a pleasant interaction with Relocation Specialist Anthony Stranahan, where we listed our items and made an upfront payment of $1024. Our pickup date was supposed to be on March 20th, but with a one-day delay, a team of two arrived on March 21st to collect our belongings from Texas. Upon their arrival, without even counting the items, they claimed that our inventory, according to the list we provided, was twice as much and increased the agreed price for 20 additional boxes from $2321 to $4521. Naturally, we refused to pay this inflated price, not willing to succumb to their schemes and deceit. Strangely, Anthony Stranahan, whom we could reach every day until pickup day, suddenly became unreachable, and Carlos took over communication. Carlos displayed a disrespectful and insolent attitude, attempting to exploit us with exaggerated price offers. Stay away from this company; they have a disrespectful and unethical business approach. My father intends to take legal action against them.
Really garbage company
Really garbage company. A really confident sales person assured us that all of our questions were answered properly and we would be receiving our items on our move in day. It has now been 2 weeks since my original drop off date and i have no updates, i cannot find the contract anymore, and the company is putting me in a continuous loop of confusion and not giving me an answer. Honestly Carlos, and Anthony you guys do not deserve to work there i hope you get fired.
The team at American Way Moving went…
The team at American Way Moving went above and beyond to help me with my family's relocation. I looked at many other options before settling with them. I was helped every step of the way while other movers were always pushy and just wanted to get my deposit. My price did change but only after we had to add my daughters furniture almost a week before the move. Considering it was last minute I understand and frankly expected it to be more. These guys really went above and beyond. You need to speak with them before you book your next move. Big thumbs up!!
I called around to several moving…
I called around to several moving companies before settling with American Way Movers. Dan was super helpful in guiding me through this process. He made helpful suggestions and helped save me a lot of time and aggravation. We ran into a little timing snafu and his team was ready to find a solution. Moving from New Jersey with a lifetime of memories, furniture and all of my household items was scary. These guys work hard and made sure everything was taken care of and delivered on time. The traffic was terrible and caused a few days delay but Dan communicated frequently which put me at ease. I highly recommend Dan Williams and his team at American Way Moving.
DO NOT USE
DO NOT USE - these guys over promise and lie then just reply with "well you signed the contract" after the moving company they contracted took twice as long to deliver and damaged many of our expensive items, then sent a crack head who smelled so bad the new owners of our old home complained of cigarette smell. they were so response until they received final payment and now, nothing. when I said, I had no idea this is how all this works, they said "it's in the contract". All I wanted to was transparency. and they have not provided this. Terrible company!
My wife a travel nurse
My wife a travel nurse. This company has sent her to the emergency room. due to all the stress it has caused! I wouldn’t recommend to my worse enemies!
