I have only had to make a claim due to an injury early on in my membership. Decades later I have no complaints. Now I am 60 I am choosing to close the account and I have over £5000 to replace old windows to keep me warm in my old age ha ha!
When I did have to phone, very professional and friendly.

They will let you over insure and happily take the payments but when you make a claim they only pay 70% max

Be careful, very very careful. Need a claim? Unless you’ve documented EVERYTHING, your well out of luck. Been with them for 10yrs plus, waste of time when I needed them. Funny how they can pull up an email I sent in December asking to cancel my policy but can’t find any correspondence from a hospital bed a few months prior. Nice as well of them to tell me that before they can look into it that I’d need to pay the outstanding balance before they’d proceed even though I’d sent the email explaining why. Again, proceed with caution!!

I contacted British Friendly with regard to updating my policy. I was given a curt response telling me to go back to my broker. My policy is seven years old. I was given no contact details for the original broker. Fortunately, I kept all my paper work and was able to contact the original broker, but I had expected a more helpful response from British Friendly.

Very happy with the service provided by British Friendly. I haven't needed cover ever before but so glad it was in place.
Do not rely on government support because the more you put into the system the less you get out!

Quick contact and sorted out my problem without any issues.
Have been with this company over 10 years this is the first time iv made a claim on my sickness insurance it took around 5 weeks to get the income protection up and running through no fault of British British friendly think I didnt understand the email system but the company sent me a £50 gratitude payment and back dated what I was owed anyone considering taking out this insurance should do so as you never know when you will need it iam glad I did as I dont have to worry about paying my Bill's on ssp

I have been with the British benefit for 30 years. They are so helpful and kind and easy to deal with not like other companies. There’s never a problem and everything is straight forward. I’m so glad I chose this company
