I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction and frustration regarding the complete lack of communication I have experienced after being informed of my CV being shortlisted for a job application. I received your email on 5th January 2024 confirming my shortlisting and requesting my availability for a call the following week.
Despite my prompt response and willingness to schedule a call, I have encountered a series of unresponsiveness and unfulfilled promises from your team. I requested a call on Monday as per your instructions, but to my dismay, no one from your end reached out.
Subsequently, I diligently attempted to contact the person mentioned in your email every single day that week. Despite leaving voice messages, my efforts were met with silence. Seeking resolution, I escalated the matter by contacting your main office, only to receive assurances that someone would contact me. Regrettably, this assurance proved hollow, as no one bothered to follow through.
Yesterday, after yet another round of calls, I was assured that a team leader would finally reach out to me. To my disbelief, this pledge remains unfulfilled, leaving me in a state of complete uncertainty and frustration.
I find this lack of communication highly unprofessional and unacceptable. It reflects poorly on the organization's commitment to applicants and raises serious concerns about the reliability and efficiency of your hiring process.
I demand immediate attention to this matter, an explanation for the repeated unfulfilled promises, and a clear timeline for when I can expect a call. The current experience has left me questioning the professionalism and integrity of your recruitment process.
I expect a swift and satisfactory resolution to this matter.

I have already submitted the query via your website last week and no one contacted me.

My contact Bethany Grogan was outstanding throughout the whole process. From first contact, interview and finally employment.
She was constantly ameniable, always knowledgeable and informed. She was professional yet very humane and me feel comfortable and incuded all the way along. Bethany is a great asset to your organisation.

Its less than 1 week to the end of the year and I will then be without a job in the Home Office - a well-paid job that took 7 months to be recruited into by Brook Street and I'm in this position because their staff have not been truthful about what the Home Office want in terms of days, hours, and contract requirements. Now the truth has been revealed, at the end of this year, I won't have a contract anymore nor this well-paid role for the New Year. I can’t work the hours needed and would never have applied if the truth had been told to me in the first place.
So, I'd like to say a big thank you for this to Jack in Preston and the others, and you all know who you are. Please don't ever feel guilty for telling me a pack of lies. That you have wasted both mine and the client companies time on pointless recruitment of me and caused me to turn down 3 other much better positions I could have taken rather than this one is of course a triviality. I'm sure you are right my being able to pay the bills, save a little money and have peace of mind each month could never be worth more than your commission.
I'd also like to say to Mollie C in Glasgow that I am so very sorry for her. It must be hell being so busy and her email priorities so overwhelming that she hasn't got even a minute in any day, at any time once to pick up the phone nor drop me a line to keep me informed of this situation, to check on my welfare nor even call my local Brook Street weeks ago when I first alerted her to ask them to re-engage me in a new position urgently because this situation is no fault of mine. I appreciate it really was asking far too much of her precious time to expect to be any kind of priority to her and I don't ever want her to feel guilty and think that it is her fault that my Christmas was totally ruined. Of course, my sleepless nights and illness since this news broke are nothing to do with this situation. I apologise profusely for being such a tiresome burden in the first place.
I’m not I understand the first one to be in this situation with the HO and through this agency, but through this review I hope to be the last. For anyone interested in this work please listen up. These are well paid roles and nice people at the HO to look forward to working with, BUT don’t find yourself in the same situation as me and lied to. The hours and shifts you work at the Home Office in the roles currently being recruited for are demanding. The hours can mean early starts (7:30am for 7:45 appointment) and late evenings (7pm) and with the latter it is every week. There are also some full day Saturdays expected as part of your contract. No matter what you might be told, THIS IS THE TRUTH. I wish everyone a happy 2024 and a wonderful job doing what they love - but it won't be through this agency.
only to encounter the same pattern once again: the consultant sent my CV to the client, I attended the interview, secured the position, underwent extensive compliance and security checks, pursued a starting date for the role, never got one and then... received a brief call 3 weeks later that the role had been cancelled.
No apology, explanation, or alternative work was offered, and no further communication from the team.
I have already provided my feedback; someone looked into it and that was all.
Brook Street: Many people are now without employment right before Christmas due to your actions!
Please avoid any form of apology as we all recognize that, much like the roles offered, it wouldn't be genuine.
Since I left I’ve heard so many bad reviews. Brook street have a contract with MOJ. They don’t care about people - as long as they’re getting their money.

While looking for a job, I was contacted by Emma Smith on indeed about a possible job I’d be interested in, which I was. Emma was great in helping me secure that job by giving me all the information possible and answering any questions that I had, she couldn’t of been more helpful. I highly recommend anyone looking for work to use brook street.

I applied for a job it took them 7 months to sort everything out for me. Then apparently the job i was meant to be starting fell through, so they offered me another job but could not give me a start date. Two weeks of chasing them up with no response from them. They send me an email saying sorry the vacancy is has now been filled. I have tried to call them sent them emails to take this further and i have still not heard anything from.

The entire experience from the initial contact to getting the job was a fantastic seamless service. My contact was with Josie who was excellent. To be honest I thought Brook Street no longer existed as they were an agency that were around from the 80s so I was surprised when a job that I was interested in had to be via Brook St.
Josie was very transparent about the job managing my expectations. Pleased to say I was offered the job. Less than a week it took from me sending my CV, to the job offer. I would highly recommend to my family and friends.

This is a follow up to my review regarding how poor brook street were in communicating the process for home office jobs for my application for a role with the home office. I was finally cleared through all their vetting processes and was told I had a start date of 13th November only to find outlast week that the role was not in Croydon as I understood but in Somerset. Not a commutable location. I had given up my previous role so I am now out of work thanks to brook street.
Please don't respond to this review by saying you are sorry to hear of my experience and to put my problems in writing via your link. I have already complained via your website.
What has happened to Brook Street? They used to be fantastic. I was told I had job with home office in August. It’s now end of October. I get no updates. No response to communication. Have already complained once to HO about the manner in which they talk to you! I’ve seen the same jobs on the Home Office website and you can apply directly without having to go through Brook Street. It’s very sad that Employment & people are their primary business, yet lack the ability to communicate properly. To just ignore clients and not call back is the height of bad manners and business acumen. Other employment agencies get it right and have far better reviews. If they can do it. Why can’t you? Even complaints are not dealt with.

I had a scheduled call with Alyx, never got a call in the agreed time of course. The call was rescheduled for the next day, where he asked if we could schedule another call for the next day and since then he is nowhere to be seen. I was trying to contact him but no response. I really want to know how someone can be so unprofessional. No wonder the agency got so many 1 stars. I would give you a 0 only if I could.

Really recommend Brook street, I got Colleen who was so helpful and lovely. She asked what exactly I’m looking for in a job and asked what I didn’t want, she also improved my cv and found me an interview for a job best suited to my needs. I got the job and had my first day, it went really well! Thank you brook street and colleen for all your help.

Poor across the board, had to deal with multiple agents who were never on the same page
This lead to interviews I had to prep for the be cancelled last minute with no contact from this "agency" only found out when I reached out directly multiple times
No transparency, very poor communication and agents that don't listen to candidates or actual note down critical information
If you get calls from Brook Street, avoid avoid avoid just not worth the hassle and your time

Brook streets compliance checks are so extensive that I'm surprised they have manage to employ anyone at all!
I have provided them with endless paperwork, ID documents and cross referencing proof to complete my compliance.
They have my marriage certificate, birth certificate, driving license, passport (OOD), NI card with maiden name, NI letter from HMRC with marital name, HMRC letter about child benefit containing my NI, old payslips with my NI number, child's BC confirming mat leave, council tax letter confirming address, personal refence and a completed authorised DBS check.
Yet.....
Brook street require a document with my NI number and my middle names stated (which I do not use or have done for many years) to complete my compliance. I have told them that I do NOT obtain ANY documents with this to which they are now unable to offer me the position. They even suggested changing my name/adding names on the Government website to enable myself to complete the compliance required!
FYI my middle names are not on my DL, BC, Passport or HM Rev NI docs/cards but they still require them as they are seen on my marriage certificate and child's BC.
On top of this, even though I have uploaded all the relevant documents to Brookes Streets portal, I still had to travel to their offices in Bristol costing me nearly £30 to park, pay toll and travel to certify these documents.
I'm now left disappointed, out of pocket and concerned that I have been let down by the recruitment agency and have no employment at the end of it.
IF I COULD, I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE ZERO STAR!
Avoid the most unsatisfactory company/agency in the UK. If you're a job seeker, it's advisable to explore other options because their primary focus is exclusively on catering to their clients.
Once you are engaged in their assignments, you'll encounter a complete lack of responsiveness to your concerns. They exhibit a poor track record in terms of accurate and timely compensation, with no follow-up on any inquiries you may have. Essentially, they neglect and disregard your needs and concerns.
The date of experience should be for the last 18 months!
