Tony, firstly, we are sincerely sorry to hear about the passing of your stepfather. Please accept our condolences to you and your family.

We would strongly encourage you to contact our Customer Service team. As a family business, we always do our utmost to support families in circumstances such as these. Having spoken with our Customer Service team, we are not aware of having been contacted recently by anyone regarding circumstances matching those described in your review. It would therefore appear that we have not yet had the opportunity to discuss your stepfather's order with you or explain how we may be able to help. From the information provided here, we cannot identify the individual order, so we would very much welcome the opportunity to speak with you directly.

We would also like to respectfully clarify some of the points raised in your review.

Our presentations within retirement developments are deliberately held in a group environment. We believe this creates a more open and comfortable setting and helps prevent the pressure-selling tactics you have described. We only speak with someone privately when they express an interest and invite us to do so. We take our responsibility towards older customers extremely seriously and do not accept pressure selling within our business.

We also encourage family members to be involved before, during or after a presentation where appropriate. We have measures in place to identify customers who may need additional family support, whilst also respecting an individual's independence and right to make their own decisions. As an additional safeguard, our Customer Service team contacts customers following their order to ensure they are happy with their decision and understand what they have ordered, giving them another opportunity to ask questions or raise any concerns.

Our website does not display a price for our chairs because of the significant number of different specifications available. Each chair can be configured according to measurements, support requirements, functionality, fabric and additional features, resulting in hundreds of thousands of possible combinations. Importantly, our prices are fixed according to the specification selected, with set prices and set discounts. The same specification costs the same regardless of the individual purchasing it or whether they speak to a Comfort Specialist or contact our office directly.

Regarding the comparison with chairs available for £699, these are not comparable products. Our chairs are handmade in the UK specifically for the individual, rather than being an off-the-shelf product. They are designed to provide the correct fit, comfort and postural support, which can be particularly important for people wishing to maintain their health and independence.

The price also includes delivery and installation, removal of existing furniture where applicable, full guidance on using the product and, importantly, our lifetime guarantee. Our commitment does not end when the chair is delivered. We remain available throughout the customer's lifetime to provide support, answer questions and make future comfort adjustments where required.

Based solely on the price mentioned in your review, it would appear that your stepfather selected one of our higher-end chair specifications with additional features. However, we would not want to make assumptions without first reviewing his order.

We completely understand why, you would want reassurance about the circumstances surrounding such a significant purchase. We would genuinely welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you, review the order properly and explain what we can do to help.
