Careful thorough assessment process
Careful thorough assessment process. Compassionate and thoughtful throughout. The clinicians took as much time as was needed to explain everything. Great care was taken to provide information and plans in a manner that was palatable, clear and reinforced their ethos. Following assessment, the treatment appointments again were regular, thorough and great care taken to discuss and think through options.
I would not hesitate to recommend Divergence.

After having my first session with…
After having my first session with Michael today I found him incredibly supportive and I now feel very positive about steps forward. He was able to talk through things in an easy to understand way, and was very clear and transparent with the information he gave. I would recommend divergence and Michael to anyone who is looking for support either getting a diagnosis, or who may be looking for help navigating their path after such a diagnosis.

Outstanding servoce and care
I'll be honest having had a private diagnosis of ADHD elsewhere myself I've since been a little sceptical of whether it could be done differently.
But when it came to the diagnosis of my 20 year old son, there was no hesitation in choosing Divergenceuk.org
From initial conversation to final diagnosis and we'll beyond, Andrew, Sara and the team have exceeded all my expectations.
The care, the time and the support not only my son but also my wife and I have been show had been outstanding.

Great clinician but company has major customer service issues
I have unfortunately had to amend my previous 5 star review due to recent poor customer service. As I said initially, I will give endless praise to my clinician but the customer service side of the business is lacking majorly. I recently had to cancel an appointment at short notice (I take fault for this and have done so in communication with Divergence) however, the cold and transactional response to this cancellation has been less than stellar. As a potential future customer reading this, be aware that if something comes up in your life beyond 72 hours notice (doesn't matter what it is) you will be treated poorly and told you still have to pay, can't change your appointment, and have to suck it up. I understand that as a business you "don't work for free" but a complete lack of flexibility and empathy is incredibly poor, especially for a company that is providing a service for neurodivergent individuals. Please look into improving your customer service channels and how to interact with customers, it will take Divergence to the next step. I also recommend you do not react to this defensively, like you have done in our recent communication, try to take the feedback on board in a professional manner.

Highly recommend
Having used divergence previously and being extremely impressed with the service when it was suggested that my son should be assessed for ADHD I did not have to think twice about using them again.
We met with Michael for my son’s initial assessment, diagnosis and then initial treatment appointment. I found Michael to be extremely professional throughout all of the appointments but at the same time was able to put myself and my son at ease. He was very knowledgeable and caring, he had clearly spent time reading through the various forms that had been completed prior to each appointment.
Michael explained the process thoroughly at each appointment making sure that we had fully understood everything that had been discussed. He gave plenty of opportunity for us to ask any questions.
Michael was very helpful and supportive around the treatment options available listening to my son and what treatment option may be best for him coming up with an agreed plan together.
I have found all of the staff to be extremely helpful, knowledgeable and supportive on each occasion I have had contact with them, Andrew and Sara on previous contacts and then Michael on our most recent contact
I would highly recommend divergence as a service

Care over everything.
Have used divergence for both my sons. Booking appointments has been very easy and when I was struggling to find one to fit round are busy routines, the help and support was always there. The help given when making a choice about medication was very good. Never once did i feel pushed or pressure into any decisions, if anything it was the complete opposite. At every stage from first assessment, diagnosis and treatment, I was given a list of options. Nothing ever seems to much trouble and even though I ask alot of questions, every one of them has been answered in detail and every thing was alwsys explained in way that was understood. I was in a really difficult situation with my youngest son and the help and support we have been given has really changed things for the better. Every member of staff I have been in contact with has been outstanding and I couldn't thank them enough.

Divergence- what an excellent team!
From my very first contact with Divergence, the team have been excellent. They responded very quickly to an email I sent about my initial Pre-Diagnosis Assessment and the whole process towards this meeting has been very well considered and organised. The fact that they gather information before the first meeting is excellent as it means the clinical staff already have a good insight into the issues a person is experiencing. I had my Pre-Diagnosis Assessment yesterday with Michael Curtis and he was very professional throughout. He helped me to feel very much at ease so I could share relevant information with him and asked relevant questions that showed he really was invested and interested in getting the details he needed. I have every confidence in this team and definitely recommend them to others. The ethos and approach of this team is clearly very much to support and help those of us who are divergent....thank you Divergence!

Diagnosed with ADHD at 72... and not fobbed off
In 2018 I asked my GP to refer me for an ADHD assessment, having researched the subject for a number of years off and on and being convinced that ADHD was the cause of so many issues I'd been struggling with for a long time.
Because I was in my sixties I was referred to the elderly mental health team at a local psychiatric hospital, where I was checked for dementia. My requested ADHD assessment was refused, and I was told I had anxiety and depression and offered antidepressants (despite getting a low score on the anxiety and depression tests). I disagreed with that diagnosis. I knew that I was not suffering from clinical depression, though I was very frustrated and fed up due to my circumstances.
Now, five years later, my longstanding suspicions have been confirmed. Thanks to an ADHD peer support group, which I attended for the first time in April 2023, I learned that Andrew Jay was an excellent ADHD clinician here in the North East and was about to launch his own ADHD clinic. Whether to contact Divergence was a no-brainer, now that I'd decided to revisit the possibility of having an assessment, and in no time at all I was having a really helpful telephone conversation with Michael Curtis, quickly followed by a pre-assessment with him. Michael couldn't have been kinder or more respectful, and I really appreciated the fact that not only was he fully qualified to diagnose and treat ADHD but he also had a background and special interest in the care of older people's mental health. At last, here was someone who listened to me properly and fully understood my struggles. All the signs were that I probably had ADHD, he said, and he recommended that I be assessed. He suggested I take my time to think about whether I wanted to go ahead.
On midsummer's day I was diagnosed by Andrew with combined ADHD, just a few weeks after my 72nd birthday, and I'm finally getting my life back on track thanks to his care and expertise. I've now spent several hours in conversations with Andrew, including the assessment, and it's been like talking to a very caring friend who wants nothing but the best in life for me. It's abundantly clear that it matters very much to him that each and every person he treats, regardless of their age, has the best possible outcome.
I could write a book on what I've learned about ADHD so far and how it has affected or explained my life choices and behaviours in the past. But, more important, during these past few months Andrew has guided and helped me to understand what it will mean in future to live with this atypical brain. I was slightly apprehensive about taking the prescribed ADHD meds, but he has carefully talked me through the implications and the benefits, and I've felt I was in very safe hands.
I can't recommend Andrew Jay and his team at Divergence highly enough. Divergence is the epitome of Best Practice. What could have been a daunting experience has been a very positive one of discovery and understanding, and a huge relief after so many years of not really knowing what was wrong with me. Communications throughout have been excellent, and both Michael and Andrew, being ADHDers themselves, have empathy in spades. Last but not least, I would like to thank both for their generosity in often allowing appointments to run over the time allotted.
Great Experience with Divergence
Just come through the process of getting an ADHD diagnosis for one of my children. I initially spoke with Andrew, who was very knowledgeable and caring. I was then in touch with Sara for the rest of the process and she was excellent.
She took the time to get to know us and talked through all the paperwork (which I hate doing). She explained things clearly and offered some amazing advice for us to move forward. Thank you to all the Divergence team for your help.

Highly recommend *****
I can not express my thankfulness to Andrew enough. After recently having my daughter diagnosed with ADHD by a child psychiatrist. He has supported, advised and helped us in every way possible. Weather it was just me ranting to him or him writing a report. Nothing was too much for Andrew. All over the Christmas period he was still on the other end of the phone/email for us. Andrew always had my daughters best interested at heart all the way.
I can not recommend Andrew enough 5* in all areas.
