My daughter came back from this experience wishing she could have stayed longer.

I had a wonderful time at the Medicine program in Berkeley! Everyone was so nice and the activities were always interesting (the phlebotomy and triage activities were really fun). Thanks, especially to my advisors Ms. Rossy and Mr. Bennett, for making this such a great experience!!

I learned a lot and met a lot of cool people. My advisor, Yrvin Mangandi was a great teacher who made learning fun.

I had a fun time at the program, but there was a lot of time in the class room where we finished curriculum early, and were just sitting there on our phones. That happened in the morning as well, we had 30-45 minutes of time on our phones. As expensive as this program is, I feel like we should be occupied all day. Not to mention, there was an extremely misbehaved scholar in my group, who was eventually removed after fighting a teacher. Before that, she had cussed us out twice during attendance for ridiculous reasons, yet we were penalized for “exclusion,” which was a complete misrepresentation of the situation.

My son had so much fun. For him it wasn’t just only a great learning experience, he also met new people and made lasting connections with peers from different walks of life. He definitely grew so much during this experience. Thank you so much for having him

I loved this experience. The education was amazing I love how engaging and informative everything was. I learned so much throughout the program. I also made so many friendships🥹. Everything was 10/10.

I learned a lot about different fields of medicine, got a good amount of hands-on experience, and overall had a lot of fun as well. I would recommend this to anyone interested.

I absolutely loved the people I met and had very valuable connections, also a great experience with my group advisor. I valued all the lessons I learned on medicine and more so my public speaking skills. However, the staff handled a hand foot and mouth disease outbreak very poorly. A girl left a day early because she had contracted it, and let people know she did have it, and the staff proceeded to shut it down and deliberately lie and say she went around spreading rumors and actually had allergies. This, however, was definitely a lie by the staff considering I now have the virus, as do 3 other people I know who went to the same program and same location. Considering this was a medical camp, it would be wise to not lie to people and make sure they all are informed to plan accordingly and make the best decision for their health.

NYLF Medical was a great program. I’ve been to around a dozen programs like this is this was by far my favorite. The labs were helpful and distinct from things I’ve found in other programs, the instructors were incredible, the speakers gave interesting and valuable perspectives on various medical professions, and I made lifelong friends at NYLF Medical that I wouldn’t trade for the world.

I made great friends and had a really good week long trip.

This program was wonderful! The staff were polite and helpful and the program was informative and engaging. It was a bit expensive but it was worth every penny. This experience helped me figure out what I want to do as a career and encouraged me to go for it!

The whole experience

Good overall experience. Wouldn’t say I learned too much about engineering, but I did learn a decent amount about college life in general. Met a lot of friends, the advisors who were teaching it (Ajay, Fardin, Yrvin, David) were all very helpful and great people to be around. Would do it again.

My experience was enhanced by the friends that I made during the program. It was incredibly easy to make friends without feeling judged. Moreover, the program itself was incredible! It featured so many new things that I never knew and thoroughly explained how to do each thing. The teachers were helpful and very kind as well, so it made the experience that much incredible! Great way to network and speak to people who could help you in the career or in the process of getting to the career. I had a really enjoyable time and would do it again!

The experience had so many great features from the monuments and buildings visited, to the history learned and how to be good leaders. The drop-off process seemed scattered with little direction for the scholars or parents. The pick-up was also lacking as many people waiting in line outside in very hot and humid weather for an hour or more. Perhaps, they could stagger the pick-up times for ages or grades.

I went to the Explore STEM camp at UC Berkeley. I thought that for $3,000, you would get a good quality learning experience that is helpful. Anything I learned in this program could have been achievable for less than $100. For doing 3d CAD, I thought they would have some pro-grade software at this price, but no, they told us to download Shapr3d and use its free version. The rooms were ok, and despite being on the Berkeley campus, there was not a single experience involving going to it despite being open to the public. There is no excuse. We could not even code our robots, which weren't even properly functional.
The only redeeming things were my classmates, who were very nice, and my team leaders, Mr. Dwayne and Mrs. Ruddison. Only other thing good was the astronaut and the forensic science lab.

My daughter was so excited to stay with a friend in the dorms. It was great that she was able request to stay with a classmate that she knew from school. The girls stayed in a suite with a shared bathroom (Jack and Jill style) which was awesome but we did not know to bring toilet paper and there was none in the bathroom.
Overall, her experience with instructors and other students was very positive. However, there was instructor in particular, Ashley, that did not work well with the children. She was harsh, rude and critical per my daughters description. Fortunately, my daughter didn't have too much interaction with her but watched this play out with her peers while under care or instruction with Ashley.
The food was wonderful. I heard only great things about the meals that were provided during my daughters stay. I really appreciate this opportunity and I feel that this was a very valuable experience overall. We feel privileged to have been selected for this opportunity.

I loved making new friends and the staff was amazing!

Communication of changes in schedule were not communicated to parents. Pick- up day was uncoordinated. I was looking g forward to the showcase and it was nothing but a project in the hallway. Everything that we were told was completely changed and not communicated. Also, dropping off medications with the nurse was a ridiculously slow process. And no one told me that my child had to be with me when dropping off medications until after I waited in a very very long line. My son enjoyed himself. Accommodations were good. Air was broken on arrival but fixed the next day.
