Fly a Spitfire Avis 

Once in a lifetime experience made so much better by being able to do it on VE 80.

The hangar tour (which we did before the flight) was very interesting but let’s face it - you just want to fly!

Extremely comprehensive safety briefing videos are followed by a Q&A to make sure it is understood and digested and then it’s strap in and off we go.

I was piloted by Jez Britcher who is so obviously a gifted pilot that it adds to the experience. We flew to Folkestone, met the chase plane (with family on board) and stooged around over Dover for some air-to-air photo and video ops followed by a loop and victory roll. Another victory roll over the RAF Memorial at Hawkinge put extra sparkle on the day and we finished off by circling over my house on the way back.

It’s not cheap (special birthday gift from my lovely wife) but what a way to spend a special day. The team are fantastic, professional, and make the experience so much more enjoyable. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Now I have had time to come down from the best experience of my life and can take it all in I would highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for a thrill and a memory that will last forever this is the one to go for! Not cheap but worth every penny. The staff make the day even more special with their enthusiasm and expertise. Thank you, this flight was made possible and in memory of my late father in law and a victory roll had to be done for him over Beachy Head!

To have the opportunity to fly a spitfire is once in a lifetime occasion and all the staff, the pilot, everyone made it feel that way. The care and attention given was brilliant. Yes, it is not cheap but worth every single penny to be able to do it. The flight is thrilling and to have a victory roll as part of it is the icing on a special cake - even if your stomach does spin as much as the plane

This was on the 'never-thought-I'd-get-to-do' bucket list, but thanks to the generosity of my family I got to do it, and, wow, what a day!
From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, the gang at the Hangar were welcoming and nothing was too much trouble.
I have to single out Adam, my pilot, who was patient, charming and great company throughout, but equally all the guys (and girls) that we met during the day were simply brilliant.

From the booking all the way through, everyone was attentive, charming, interested in us and nothing was too much trouble. From the check-in to the hangar tour at the end - superb.

We did the flight and chase plane bundle, you must go, it's a simply amazing experience and one that I will never forget. Everyone in the chase plane agreed it was for them too. For me in the Spitfire, I haven't stopped smiling (and re-watching the videos)!

What an incredible flight, I am still a little speechless. Thank you Barry for all the victory rolls and for how attuned you are at creating space for your passenger. I didn’t know if I would sob for the entire flight, or want to ask a thousand questions. You left space for for me to be however I wanted. It was absolutely perfect. I appreciated the call to suggest I came a day early because of the weather. The ground facilities are lovely an evocative of the era, I only wish my guests could have joined us a day early - but you were spot on about the weather. All the staff were fabulous, friendly and informative. I really enjoyed seeing the pristine workshop and the level of dedication devoted to the aircraft. Might have to do it again...

On the 24th August 2024 my four friends and I had the pleasure of the "Fly A Spitfire" Experience. Well, I flew in the Spitfire and my four friends flew in the chaser plane beside it taking picture and videos with the many backgrounds of outstanding natural beauty in the forms of Newhaven Harbour, Seaford Head and town, The Cuckmere Valley and it's Oxbow Lakes, Splash Point, Hope Gap, The Seven Sisters Cliffs, Belle Tout and Beachy Head Lighthouses, Birling Gap and Beachy Head Cliffs to name, but a few of the wonderful sights and not necessarily in that order.

The experience was amazing as were everyone involved from Commander Barrie of the MJ627 Spitfire, the pilot of the chaser plane, sorry I didn't get your name, all of the ground crew and all of the customer liaison team in the office. Everyone was so professional and made the experience for us all a magical one indeed. I apologies for taking so long to write this review.

I would recommend that anyone thinking about doing it or how lovely it looks from the ground, should actually go and do it from the air as for me it was well worth every penny. This was done for my "Bucket List" and was made even more special for me when Commander Barrie asked me about the significance of the "Fly A Spitfire" Experience was for me. Which I told him was to fly over my old beloved stomping ground and where I went to my favourite school back in the days was called East Quinton School as an eight-year-old and knowing a lot of the WWII history of the area. With that he said: "Then we will make it an extra special experience for you." Not only did we fly over all of the mentioned areas, plus others, we did "7 Victory Rolls" and flying to and from the South Coast I was given a number of opportunities to take control and actually fly the MJ627 Spitfire. I actually plan to do it again one day.

Superb experience - Friendly staff - Great flight and pictures afterwards plus a tour of the museum / restoration area. A memorable day that left all my family smiling - I would recommend the chase plane option as this gave additional family guests the chance to experience the flight and also take some fantastic pictures which again add another dimension to the go - pro footage.

Had a long wait due to weather conditions. When we finally got airborne the experience proved to be everything it promised.
Obviously not cheap and most people going up were celebrating some life milestone.

To fly in a Spitfire was a dream come true. To be able to do it from a local airport even better. The “Fly a Spitfire” team were great, the aircraft, pilot and flight brilliant. Waiting on the ground members of my family were duly entertained and informed and photo’s taken on my return. A memorable experience for all. Many thanks.

What an absolutely awesome experience.
This was an experience I never thought would come true.
My wife, son and daughter had planned this as a surprise for me 60th for 2 years, how they kept it a secret I have no idea.
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome.
All the ground staff and my pilot Jon Cooke were so friendly but at the same time very professional.
My son,daughter and grandson went up 1st in the chase plane and were able to get some fabulous pictures and videos when we caught them in Spitfire MJ627.
We then headed to Leeds castle and enroute I was able to take control and actually fly the plane.
On the way back Jon performed a victory roll to make the experience complete.
Once back on the ground we were given a tour of the museum and workshop.
If you ever get the chance to have this experience don’t think twice.

Another great Warbird flight with Fly a Spitfire. As always everyone was friendly and helpful and worked hard to make the whole experience great. My pilot this time was Isobel Rutland, who gave an excellent briefing pre-flight and piloted 'Sharkie' (Spitfire TE308) superbly.

I would like to thank the Fly A Spitfire team at Biggin Hill for a wonderful flight. The organisation and helpfulness of the staff was outstanding from start to finish. The flight exceeded all expectations, as did the Pilot Richard Verrall who answered my many questions, gave an excellent pre-flight briefing and was very informative throughout the whole flight. The opportunity to take the controls of a spitfire and experience barrel rolls is a lifelong dream fulfilled. The Heritage Hanger tour with Del was again superb and all my many questions were answered in a tour where I learnt a great deal. I would highly recommend this experience. Thank you to all the staff at Fly A Spitfire at Biggin Hill, a truly outstanding memorable experience.

We had the most wonderful day with you. My husband had the most amazing experience flying in a spitfire with Richard at the controls. The family in the chaser plane also felt part of the experience and I would strongly recommend this as an add on as it really enhanced the whole experience. The staff were so helpful , engaging and professional throughout and couldn’t have been more pleasant and encouraging. What a wonderful day out .. one to remember for a long time. Thank you

Just had a fantastic experience flying in a Spitfire from Biggin Hill. All the team were great and made sure you were at ease to ensure you enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience.
You even get an opportunity to fly the plane as well.

Best day ever, Anna Walker was superb, everyone was so friendly and helpful, my sons and brothers and sisters all went up in chase planes so was a special family day out, I would recommend it to everyone, do it, you won’t be disappointed

Greetings from Scotland. We had the most magical day the minute we stepped through the front door. A friendly welcome from the Team, sprinkled with professionalism, dedication, inspiration and knowledge throughout. My family viewed my flight in the Chaser Plane - Still Buzzing. As for me, when I donned the flying suit and silk scarf, I was dressed for the part. Now it was time for the flight. Although I'm a woman, I was more than ready to fly in the Spitfire MJ627. I was 'Eager for the Air'. My Pilot for the flight was AW. A truly intoxicating adventure. Life itself is a big adventure. "Flying isn't just about controlling the machine, its about understanding and controlling yourself". Amelia Earhart.

My flight had been cancelled twice due to the weather and this was third time lucky and boy was I glad I finally had the flight. It was utterly brilliant from the moment Adam strapped me in right up to the landing. It was truly a wonderful experience, I had to pinch myself as we flew over the Kent countryside towards Beachy Head in the iconic plane where we did 4 victory rolls, one over Beachy Head another over the pier. Barry the pilot was fantastic and I was able to take control of the spitfire for turns and straight line flying. Its one of the best things I've ever done. Shout out for Laurie who did factory tour and was so friendly to me and the family. If you are thinking of doing it or know someone that does just do it you wont regret it.

Bucket List Spitfire Flight. Just a note to say a BIG Thank You for a wonderful Spitfire Flight on Sunday, 11th August. All I can say is Fab-u-lous! It exceeded all my expectations and was well worth having the chase plane involved, terrific footage to cherish the memories.
