The whole experience was just 'mind blowing.' I did this trip with a life long friend aged 90 and the pilots, ground crew and office staff were just amazing. They all made the experience a day which we will never forget

From booking to the day itself the experience was a positive one, everyone was so helpful and enthusiastic they went out of their way to make this a very special and memorable day for both my husband who was flying and for our guests.

I had my Spitfire flight on Sunday 16th June 2024, fulfilling a dream, and more… the experience was perfect and handled so well by the Spitfire team, including pilot, ground crew and also the excellent facilities and staff at Norwich Airport’s SaxonAir. It was a very relaxed atmosphere throughout, friendly never rushed, but at the key points always clear thorough and professional.

I added a chase plane, which was a late decision, but worth every penny, as it allowed me to share the experience with my family in the air. Lots of smiles and fun, they enjoyed it almost as much as I did.

My flight was from Norwich Airport, and home area allowing me to plan a tailor route, something Fly A Spitfire were very keen to offer and arranged on the day. This was perfect and included stretches of the beautiful coast, as well as a couple of historic WW2 airfields, and places of personal significance. The Go Pro footage was great, and there was plenty of time for photographs both before and after the flight.

The highlights were taking the controls and feeling the Spitfire’s light touch responsiveness (a short lesson that I will never forget), the victory rolls, and simply the anticipation on taxi for take-off. I have since watched Spitfires fly, and my experience flight has enhanced this simple pleasure.

If only it were possible to catch and bottle up the feelings and buzz from days like this…

What can I say? This was an outstanding experience and I'm still buzzing. It was a busy afternoon as the morning flights had been put back due to weather conditions, but it was great chatting to other flyers and families and watching the planes coming in and going out. The tour round the workshop and heritage hangers were fascinating too. When I finally had my flight, it lived up to all my (very high) expectations. Anna, the pilot, was brilliant. I can honestly say that there wasn't a single second that I felt unsafe, and the flight down to the white cliffs, the fly-pass over our house en route, the acrobatics and being allowed to take the controls for quite a time was everything I could have hoped for. My husband was persuaded to go up in the tracker plane and so got some great in-flight photos of the Spitfire and said he wouldn't have missed it for the world in spite of being a bit apprehensive in small planes! A huge thank you to everyone at Biggin Hill.

We took a hanger tour at a cost of £49 each. Our guide was knowledgeable but for what we saw and learnt the cost should have been no more than £12 per person. A complete rip off.

Had an amazing day at the Biggin Hill Spitfire Heritage Flight Centre with friends, etc.
Experienced a 75-minute flight over Beechy Head and the White Cliffs of Dover in a Spitfire Mk.9 : TS308 known to all as "Sharky"
My pilot for the flight was Anna Walker who was amazing and very knowledgeable.
Staff there were friendly and from the start they made you feel welcomed.
All in all it was an amazing day and would recommend it.

Weather conspired to thwart the flight but the Fly a Spitfire team called in an extra pilot and got the re-arranged flights done the day before when the climate was perfect. All the people at Fly a Spitfire were so friendly and accommodating it was a pleasure to be there. The flight itself was a once in a lifetime experience, that is until I have saved up for another flight. Take the plunge and book, you won't be disappointed.

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to fly in a WW2 Spitfire and do a victory roll. After years of just dreaming about it I achieved both with Fly a Spitfire at Biggin Hill on my 72nd birthday.

The staff, ground crew and pilots looked after us from the moment we walked in, making sure the whole experience was one to remember. The staff and ground crew looked after my wife while I flew in Spitfire MJ627 with Isabel, a fantastic pilot, who performed two victory rolls and even allowed me to take the controls very briefly.

I have only two regrets, I wish I had done it sooner and I should have booked a longer flight. Still, I have the onboard video to watch and relive a little of what was the perfect birthday.

I have wanted to fly in a spitfire for over 40 years. My wife booked this as a birthday gift. What an experience. Words cannot describe how it felt. Absolutely amazing. Jon Cooke was the pilot and he handled the plane with absolute perfection. To take the controls was an emotional experience. My thanks go to everyone involved in make this an experience I will never forget.

This was a fantastic experience which I may repeat some time in the future. The one hour flight to the white cliffs passed in a flash, with seeing famous landmarks from the air and being allowed to take the controls for a great deal of the flight. The Victory rolls and high banking turns were exhilarating.
Afterwards, we had a very interesting tour of the setup, planes and other memorabilia that added to the experience.

Five stars is not enough stars! An absolutely fantastic (and emotional) experience. The introductions, instructions and options were all clear. Staff were welcoming and knowledgeable and you were made to feel like you were the only one having this experience. A great day - I'd recommend to everyone. Once in a lifetime - grab it!

A fabulous day out that no words can ever do justice to.The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The flight in the Spitfire itself cannot be described, it's simply off the scale.
If you are going to treat yourself to a special day, I cannot see how this can be topped.

Thank you so much!! WOW WOW WOW. What a experience from start to finish! The whole team were amazing from the minute we arrived to the minute we left. Very trying conditions totally out of the teams control due extreme amount of flights in and out of Biggin hill due to the champions league final. We were made to feel so special and we finally got in the air after some nervous moments due to high traffic. It worked out perfectly the sky was clear and flight down to Beachy head was stunning! My Pilot Anna is amazing and she truly made the time i had in TE308 truly breath-taking. I was quite emotional along the coast the spitfire is a remarkable aircraft! I really cant put into words how much i enjoyed it was quite overwhelmed by it all! The tour is amazing and to see so many people so passionate about these aircraft is a beautiful thing. I would recommend this to anybody sitting on the fence about it! Thanks again to all the team at Biggin hill.

An extraordinary and overwhelming day. I have loved the Spitfire since I was a kid, and the thought of actually flying in one of these beautiful machines (let alone maybe taking the controls) was frankly beyond my wildest dreams. Knowing this, my kids were the inspiration and my wife bought me the flight as a birthday present. We extended it to include Beachy Head, and the chase plane for the family - both options thoroughly recommended.

The whole experience was perfect. Laurie, Amanda and everyone made the whole family feel welcome and involved in the experience from the start. The briefing was thorough, enjoyable, and getting kitted up intensely exciting. Paul and the team also managed to ensure we got a chase plane big enough to take pretty much the entire family - so grateful for this.

Whilst they got airborne, I met pilot Barry (warmth, experience, professionalism and calmness personified) and was strapped in and given the last ARC checks by Simon (very thorough, and his friendliness and enthusiasm is infectious). Hearing (and feeling) the Merlin fire up, taxiing out, actually being sat in MJ-627 as it left the ground - words don't get close. And rising up into the sun to rendezvous with the chase plane, and seeing my family having the time of their lives up there and sharing it all as we flew along the coast above the Seven Sisters - this is a deathbed memory. Actually taking the controls, and the thrill of Barry's perfectly executed victory rolls and then landing, were icing on the cake.

Then meeting up with the family as they landed, photos with Barry, Simon and everyone by this astonishing machine. The factory tour afterwards maybe should have been eclipsed by the flight - the fact that it wasn't shows just how fascinating Laurie, Jake and everyone we spoke to made it. And I can't stop watching the videos from the GoPros and chase plane.

This is an outstanding company - welcoming, friendly, passionate about what they do, and above all safe, and thoroughly professional. If you've ever even remotely thought about something like this - just do it (and enjoy the shared memories forever).

If you never do anything else, do this... it is just the most incredible experience. From meeting the support team, pre-briefing with the pilot, the flight itself and the de-brief this could not have been made any better.
The pilot, Barry, was wholly accommodating in respect of flying over familiar countryside from the Cotswold Airport and was happy to let me take the controls, albeit briefly, to allow me now to say "I've flown a Spitfire!" having never piloted an aircraft of any sort previously.
We performed a couple of rolls, an experience never to be forgotten, and all was captured on video from 3 separate fixed cameras, plus my wife Elaine's excellent efforts from the optional chase plane.
These guys are the ultimate professionals and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to complete that last item on the bucket list. It doesn't get any better.
