Bought a pair of Saint Laurent Sunglasses

Bought a pair of Saint Laurent sunglasses from Gem Opticians and had a great experience.They were super responsive throughout and kept up with all my messages without any delay, which I really appreciated. The packaging was also a nice surprise very well done and premium.

The glasses themselves are amazing, spotless, and exactly what I was hoping for. Overall, really happy with the purchase. Definitely earned a loyal customer

Customer delight!

I had got a pair of Jimmy Choo glasses from Gem, even after a year they were kind enough to help me with a new pair of nose pads! Quite commendable tbh!

The team was very communicative and helpful throughout my interaction with them and my order arrived to the US quickly. It was thoughtfully packaged with obvious care and attention to detail. It's worth noting that depending on your location and the customs/tariff situation for your country that returns may not be possible, so just keep that and any related costs in mind.

Caution: Cheap, Fake Product and Difficult Resolution Process

I ordered a pair of miumiu glasses costing Rs 38000 and was sent a pair of cheap unbranded sunglasses not even worth Rs 300 packaged in a box! Customer care number on site is not reachable most of the times.. Do not buy from this site. It's a scam!

When I finally managed to reach out to the team the customer service rep was extremely rude and started telling me off instead of being apologetic or trying to find a resolution. They have no intention of refunding or exchanging the product and I'm certain this was a plotted scam from the get go from Gem Opticians.

I am updating my earlier review to reflect how this situation progressed.

I had originally ordered a pair of Miu Miu sunglasses worth approximately ₹33,000–₹38,000 but received a completely different, low-value, unbranded pair. The initial experience was extremely frustrating — the customer care number was often unreachable, and when I did get through, the interaction was unpleasant and unhelpful rather than solution-oriented.

What made matters worse was the company’s response after I raised the issue. Instead of addressing the discrepancy, they implied that the parcel had been tampered with and suggested that I was responsible. I was also asked to remove my review and was told that they would take further action if I did not comply! At one point, they even misrepresented my position by stating that I was linking removal of my review to a refund, which was not the case.

Given the lack of resolution, I escalated the matter formally through the Department of Consumer Affairs and also raised a dispute with my card provider, American Express, submitting all supporting evidence including images and an unboxing video.

Following this, the company’s stance changed. They first offered a replacement, which I declined due to the complete breakdown of trust during the process. Subsequently, they processed a full refund! (After claiming several times they wouldn't under any circumstances be processing a refund.)

While I did eventually receive my money back, it was only after significant escalation and effort on my part. The overall experience — from receiving the incorrect cheap fake product to the handling of the complaint — was stressful and not what one would expect when purchasing a high-value item.

Even after resolution, I have been contacted multiple times requesting that I remove this review. I want to clarify that this review reflects my genuine experience, and receiving a refund after escalation does not negate the issues faced during the process.

I would strongly advise exercising caution when purchasing from this seller, especially for high-value items, and ensuring that you have proper safeguards in place.

A purchase of this value should not require this level of effort, escalation, and tolerance for poor customer handling.

Your review presents a version of events that is incomplete and does not accurately reflect the facts of this case.

From the very first interaction, we responded promptly and escalated the matter within minutes with our logistics partner, Shiprocket, sharing the ticket details with you transparently.

The unboxing video submitted by you clearly showed that the shipment had already been opened prior to recording. This made it impossible to establish immediate liability. Despite this, we still gave you the benefit of the doubt and initiated a full investigation, sharing CCTV packaging footage and all dispatch records with the logistics company.

It is also important to highlight that your review was posted the very same night as your first call with us - before any investigation could reasonably be completed. For a company that follows strict packaging protocols and has not faced such issues historically, it is neither reasonable nor responsible to immediately issue refunds without due verification. Posting reviews across multiple platforms, including store locations where no purchase was made, at such an early stage created undue pressure and disrupted a fair resolution process.

Throughout the process, our team remained responsive and kept you informed at every stage. However, your position from the outset was limited to an immediate refund, without allowing the investigation process to conclude.

Additionally, during our communication, it was indicated that the reviews would be removed upon refund. This placed further pressure on the process while it was still ongoing.

You also raised disputes through your card provider and other forums. In all such cases, we submitted complete evidence, including CCTV packaging footage, shipping records, and communication logs, and the outcomes were resolved in our favour based on the documentation provided.

At no point did we change our stance. We consistently followed due process while assuring you that your funds were secure. We had also proactively kept a replacement product reserved for you.

During this period, we identified multiple similar incidents across shipments within a short timeframe, pointing to a larger issue within the logistics chain. Despite not receiving an immediate resolution from the logistics partner, we still offered you a replacement at our own risk. Upon your insistence on a refund, we proceeded with the same after receiving the returned shipment, despite this resulting in a direct commercial loss to us, in order to bring the matter to a close without further delay.

The shipment has since been classified by the logistics partner as “lost in transit,” and we are pursuing the claim separately.

It is also important to note that there is no commercial or reputational incentive for a business of our standing to engage in the conduct being alleged. On the contrary, this matter has resulted in operational cost, time, and reputational impact on our end - all of which we have still absorbed in order to resolve the situation responsibly.

While we respect every customer’s right to share their experience, labeling a business as a “scam” despite a full refund being processed and extensive efforts made to resolve the issue is neither accurate nor justified.

We remain committed to maintaining transparency, fairness, and high service standards for all our customers.
