I sent Gerrards Bullion my silver 9 days ago, it does say on their website that they could take up to 5 days to pay. However, it's been 9 days and I'm still waiting for payment. I've phoned Gerrards Bullion 4 times over the last 2 days to inquire what the hold up is and each time I called, I've been given a different excuse as to why I still haven't been paid. My suspicion is that they don't want to pay the higher price for the silver which has gone up quickly over the last few days and they are waiting to send me a lower price. I hope they aren't using such tactics, but it's been 9 days and I still haven't been paid for the silver they have of mine. Gerrards, if you are reading this, don't request I contact you a 5th time, just send me the money for my silver. By the end of today it will be 10 days since they received my silver. Regards Kyle

I recently attempted to place a £10,000 order for coins with this Company. Despite multiple attempts, the online payment repeatedly failed. After contacting their support, I was advised that the issue was likely with my bank. My bank confirmed there were no problems on their end and that payments should go through.
I then reached out again, offering to proceed via bank transfer or alternative methods. Unfortunately, over the next two days, the company provided no resolution or clear assistance, which delayed the transaction significantly. During this period, the coin prices rose by approximately 15%, resulting in an estimated £1,500 loss for me.
As a genuine business, I believe both parties should work fairly to facilitate transactions, rather than allowing delays that benefit one side. This experience has been deeply disappointing, and I would not recommend the company based on this poor customer service and lack of accountability.

On a crazy Monday and at time of unprecedented demand for precious metals we were incredibly impressed by the warmth and professionalism of the staff at Gerrards. Although it took 2 hours to process ours and the many other requests of those who arrived at the door the staff worked absolutely flat out but with such care and politeness. We achieved an incredibly competitive price for our scrap and in such a busy environment we cannot fault our experience and the ability and consideration of the staff. Thank you to all at Gerrards today (26/01), I hope you enjoyed a well earned rest when you got home 🙏

I sent some gold on Wednesday.
It was received by Gerrards on Thursday.
A valuation was not received until I asked for one on Friday.
When I asked for Fridays price or send it back I was told "The price is set (Thursdays price) your account has been blocked. Do not send any more to Gerrards.
They will not return the gold.
I have to accept their price.

I wasn’t planning on writing a review until i received the item but my experience on the customer service line a few moments ago was very bad and it seems to be a trend as this is only my second call to them about my order.
I had placed an order on 13th january, as it said in stock and next day delivery paid a premium because i needed the items ASAP due to a trip.
I was told i should have my order within 10 days and spoken to with a tone of ‘ why are you even calling us’ like i hadn’t spent £1000+ on them and then i also had to purchase from a different company to have them arrive on time. even more money gone.
Just called again as nothing has arrived and it has been 10 day, got told it should be be here by the end of next week, and the phone was shut straight away.
I dont think i’ll personally purchase from them again as they do not respect your time and patience and hate it when you chase up on an item you paid for it seems.
fix this gerrards bullion.

I took a large weight of silver cutlery and some odd bits and pieces, all carefully weighed separately, to Gerrards, which I carefully prepared and weighed with highly accurate electronic scales. The knife blades were all removed. At reception, after the items had been whipped away, I was told the weight was 49 grams less than I had weighed it. .. After "processing", a few days later, the weight again shrank even further, by another 50 grams or so. Then I was told by two separate members of staff that the knife handles were worthless, because they were not silver, but a thin veneer, and there was no silver inside of them, just paste. The paperwork did not reflect anything correctly at all, and the fact that the silver was in Sainsbury's plastic bags, seemed to be used to confuse me. I am 75 years old.
Subsequently, I collected back the handles from them, despite having been told they were worthless, and also the odds and ends, and took them in passing to a nearby jeweller who confirmed there was indeed paste inside the handles; but, paid me instantly by BAACS £800 for them, as it was a "simple matter" to remove it.
I do not believe Gerrard's to be a dishonest company, and they do pay good rates. But, how is it possible for the weights to shrink at each unsupervised weighing, and indeed, what would have happened to the "worthless" knife handles, had I not travelled back to London to collect them...?
The response (below) from Gerrard's is even more puzzling.
My sale to them was weighed on extremely accurate, digitalised laboratory scales, from my previous work, and they were not bagged or wrapped when I weighed them, just the silver. However, Gerrard's weighed them 49 grams less at reception. Then subsequently, they were weighed again in "processing" and the weight was again reduced by a further 50 grams or so, around 100 grams in total. Gerrard's say they weighed them bagged. Why weigh weight dependent valuable items bagged? They were in a Sainsbury's carrier bag. I subsequently weighed a Sainsbury's carrier bag at 5.6 grams. Why are Gerrard's weighing items in a bag, that at present silver prices subtracts around £7 or £8 from the value...? Also, Gerrard's weighing's are not conducted in front of the customer, unless you want to risk a fuss, they are weighed "out-back" in a bucket, then weighed again days later, somewhere else, and weights changed downward again... without any proper paperwork or explanation. Apparently, it is incumbent upon the customer to check everything for possible "errors". Knife handles: Gerrard's accepted and took the knife handles out-back along with everything else, and were all together with the initial receipt; albeit that "receipt" was inadequate, in that it had no detail, just "silver received", and absolutely no indication that "knife handles are not accepted by Gerrard's". Subsequently, they were removed from the payment, without explanation or reference either verbally or on any paperwork, but just excluded and ignored, until I noticed and specifically challenged them. After being challenged, I was informed the knife handles were worthless - by two separate members of staff, one of which offered to dispose of them for me, or said I could collect them back - which I did, and sold them within minytes, in Hatton Garden, for £800.
Gerrard's procedures are poor, open to carelessness, accidental loss, shrinkage, and not at all conducive in any way to "treating customers fairly". It is also rather obviously potentially harmful to their company.
I would very strongly suggest to Gerrard's management that their procedures be reviewed as a matter of urgency, to protect both customers and their own company. Trading Standards may be able to assist in advising...
I would not recommend Gerrard's to other selling customers until such time as the administrative and processing procedures are corrected, in a way that reflects good customer service and protects Gerrard's themselves. It is all very well being "scrupulously honest and paying a slightly higher rate..." but those advantages are entirely, completely nullified if accompanied by careless handling, poor documentation and shrinkage in processing.

I could not get what I wanted from the Royal Mint but they put me in touch with Gerrards. There was an issue with the website but my order did complete and was delivered in a timely manner.

I stated in my order that I would collect in store. I was away and I prefer to buy from dealers where I can collect in person even if it means paying slightly more (which in this case it didn't) as I think this is more secure. However, my item was posted, and on a date when I specifically stated I wouldn't be at home. I appreciate this was just an accidental error at a time when the company was very busy so it's not a major issue. Apart from that, I have to say communication was very good and the price was competitive

First time experience with Gerrards Bullion and far from impressed. When I phoned, the man who answered was reluctant to confirm that it was indeed Gerrards Bullion and when I said I was simply making an enquiry he interrupted with a loud sigh, followed with sarcastic muttering. I asked him to repeat his muttering but he refused. This whole experience was so unexpected that it caught me off guard, but a lesson learned...
