Well worth the wait

Frustrated and disappointed

Ordered a bike 3 months ago still no sign. I asked for a refund and they want to change me a massive change to cancel. Utterly frustrated and totally disappointed. What ever you do don't buy from these people!

88 day delivery time

We ordered the Gin X bike at a time when there seemed to be few around in stock. They promised 3 weeks (21 days) delivery so we chose them. In the end it took 88 days to deliver. Also, the tyres were different to what we ordered (smooth road not knobbly gravel track).
On trying the bike, it was woefully lacking in power. On a local hill I tried my wife's Hitway bike, it managed 20kpm all the way up. The Gin X bike didn't manage to maintain 10kph. Also, it was horribly noisy. Looking up the motor’s serial numbers on Bafang's web site it was the cheapest they sold.
So, as it was a distance purchase we chose to send it back. I offered to take it back but they said they would organise it. The company that picked it up SGK distribution ltd took the bike. However, after 2 weeks had still not got it to Gin Bikes and were in a state of confusion over where it should go. It was found in a unit. I told Gin where it was and then they gave proper delivery instructions. Not sure what went on here.
I bought this on a visa credit card and knew I had 120 days before my protection ended. I told them to get it sorted before this time, but no. I had to start a chargeback, which I now have.
If you do buy from these people, they are at least a real company, not a scam, albeit a rubbish one. Make sure you use a visa credit card and keep an eye on the days passed, you have 120 to get your money back.

1. Delivery Delay: We sincerely apologize that your delivery took 88 days instead of the promised 3 weeks. Unfortunately, there were unexpected vessel delays at the time, which caused this delay. We have since improved our processes to avoid such issues.

2. Tyres Issue: The tyres delivered were exactly the ones listed on the product page – upgraded anti-puncture tyres, which offer better durability and performance. No changes were made from what was advertised.

3. Lack of Power: The bike needs to be unlocked to reach its full power. Instructions on how to unlock the bike are included in the manual we emailed you. If this step was missed, it may explain the lower performance you experienced.

4. Motor Quality: The Bafang motor used is from one of the world’s best e-bike motor brands. While it may be their more affordable model, it still far outperforms many no-name motors offered by other bikes in this price range, which are prone to early failure.

5. Refund and Chargeback: We voluntarily collected your bike as part of our generous return policy. However, you initiated a chargeback at the same time as requesting a refund. Once a chargeback is active, we cannot process a direct refund due to the risk of being charged twice. Rest assured, since your chargeback is underway, you should receive your refund soon through your bank.

Additionally, we’d like to remind you that you ordered the GIN X 250W Crossbar for £1,090 with our Green Friday accessories bundle – which included a padded saddle, phone holder, helmet, anti-theft alarm, e-bike cover, cargo rack, and pannier bag. At this price, we truly believe it is an excellent offer compared to what other brands provide.

We are still doing everything we can to make things right for you, but sometimes we also hope for more understanding from our customers.

Customer focused solutions from Joseph!

I bought my bike in June 2023 and in 2024 I started having a few issues with the bike. I raised these with the company.

Joseph from the customer service team reached out to me, listened to my concerns and issues and made a genuine and sincere effort to rectify the issue and ensure that I was very happy with the outcome which I now am!

It was this personal contact from Joseph that has restored my faith in the company and I would genuinely now have no hesitation in purchasing from them again

The company is young and some teething problems are inevitable but I now believe the company is doing everything they can to resolve these and grow the company to continue to produce and sell genuinely capable, affordable and great looking products!

Performs as expected and is great value

I suspect anyone looking at these reviews are doing what we all do and seeing what others think to see if is a bike for us. The main theme going through all of the reviews is the fact that the delivery will be 4-12 weeks so if that is a problem go buy elsewhere. Expect up to 12 weeks and then you will not be disappointed. I found unlike some others that I only had to pay a deposit then, the final amount when delivery was expected in my case just a few days before. My order took the best part of 12 weeks but this was not a problem for me although delivery can take another week or more unless you collect the bike from the Reading depot.
The bike? easy enough to assemble with two of you but changing the bike saddle to a new one is perhaps the most difficult part if you watch the various videos then all should be well. Changing the saddle was a good move as this ‘freebie’ is very comfortable. Some adjustment of the gears was needed and a video was sent to me to fix this. It performs as expected and I am getting 50-90+ miles per charge but I don’t charge up and down as many hills as others do so you might get less if that is your usual ride. The bike comes with all manner of ‘freebies’ which may, or may not be of interest to you but, they are free and you might find them useful.
Customer service was fine and all questions were answered quickly with a few calls to pacify me for the order taking so long to be delivered. Any further questions are answered quickly and sometimes helpful videos are sent so good marks for this.
At the price I paid for the sleek display 250 then It is great value for money so armed with the knowledge that it will take around 12 weeks for delivery a Gin Bike might be what you need as I could not find anything else remotely near the quality for the price but there may come a time when Gin Bikes will need to keep some stock in hand otherwise others might not be prepared to wait and that will seriously reflect on sales. I recommend these bikes.

No bike no refund no communication.next step, Small claims court.

Update 11th January 2025. Joseph from GIN did call me in December and agreed to refund the full amount but has since not responded to calls or emails. I have started the process of claiming through the courts due to the lack of communication. They have been holding my money for 4 months and I’m becoming increasingly concerned.
I will continue to update this post as the process develops. If anyone from Gin would like to contact me so we can discuss this I would be grateful.

I have given 5 stars so people read this review. I ordered my bike in September, it’s now December and no sign of the bike. They send emails stating delivery issues, quality control problems etc.estimated delivery now 2025.
my wife has mobility problems and needed the bike months ago. I have asked for a refund but they appear unwilling to issue one. I have lost faith in this company and expect to have to take this to small claims court. Disappointing, as the bike itself looks great.

Its a great product

Its a great product, but delivery was agonisingly slow (i believe that they have sorted that now)and there were some bits missing. The customer service however is amongst the best that I have experienced. They are a relatively new start up and teething problems are bound to occur. Very happy with the bike and the personal attention given by the after sales team.

Fazit: Großartiges Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis

Die Lieferzeit war ein paar Tage länger als versprochen. Aber der Service und das Rad sind hervorragend. Man muss das Rotationssensorprinzip des Antriebs kennenlernen, da es sich grundsätzlich vom Pedalkraftsensor in seiner Funktion unterscheidet. Aber die Möglichkeiten der Unterstützung und die Kraftentfaltung des Motors sind beeindruckend. Man kann auf nicht öffentlichem Gelände auch Zusatzfunktionen freischalten, die großen Spass machen. Die Leistung des "Tesla"-Akkus sind einfach unglaublich. Selbst bei maximaler Unterstützungsstufe (5) und zur Zeit relativ kühlen Aussentemperaturen hatte mein Akku nach 60km Fahrtstrecke (ich wiege fast 100kg) noch 23% Restkapazität. In Unterstützungsstufe 5 fährt das Rad nahezu von alleine! Das ist im Vergleich zu meinen Boschmotoren und -akkus sehr beeindruckend. Ein Reserveakku wird von GIN-E-Bikes für einen sehr günstigen Preis angeboten. Das Rad kam leider nicht mit allen versprochenen Zubehörteilen, welche aber über den äußerst schnell reagierenden und immer sehr freundlichen e-mail-Support schnell nachgeordert und an mich versandt wurden. Hier wurden sogar die Zollgebühren in Höhe von 54 Euro von GIN-Ebikes übernommen. Das ist wirklich sensationell. Kostenlos mitgeliefert wurden ein weicher großer, sehr bequemer Zusatzsattel, eine Fahrradgarage, Satteltaschen, Handyhalterung mit Box, 2 x Rücklichter mit Laserbeleuchtung und USB-Ladung, eine echte Alarmanlage!!! mit 2x Funkfernbedienung und ein hochwertiger Fahrradhelm. Die Montage und Inbetriebnahme waren sehr einfach. Alles war ordentlich verpackt und nichts beschädigt. Einzig das Ladegerät hat einen englischen Stecker und man muss sich einen kleinen Adapter für den EU-Stecker besorgen, der aber sehr preiswert überall erhältlich ist. Zusammenfassend bekommt man bei GIN-Ebikes ein sehr schönes, sportliches, robust verarbeitetes, sehr leistungsstarkes Rad mit beeindruckenden Fahrleistungen, sehr viel Fahrspaß, einen tollen Service der Firma bei Rückfragen, die immer in wenigen Stunden beantwortet werden. Ich kann nur meine uneingeschränkte Weiterempfehlung aussprechen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ist sensationell. Gerne würde ich auch das neue Rad mit integrierter Multifunktionsanzeige testen. Wir überlegen bald ein weiteres Rad von GIN-Ebikes zu kaufen. Das Black-Friday-Angebot ist eine wirkliche Sensation. Natürlich gibt es besser ausgestattete Räder mit hochwertigeren Ausstattungsmerkmalen, die dann aber sehr schnell weit über 3000 Euro kosten. Ich fahre jetzt seit über 10 Jahren verschiedene Ebikes vieler Hersteller und werde sicher bei GIN-Ebikes bleiben. Vielen Dank an das gesamte Team, Thomas Hüfner

really pleased

Was as expected I had to wait a while for delivery but they kept me up to date and the bike was upgraded that was the reason for the delay so overall worth the wait, very pleased with the bike just had to adjust the mud guards but when un packed but all good, really like the style of this bike too stands out

performs well and looks great

I am very pleased with the bike had it a year now and apart form adjusting the mud guards one delivery everything went smoothly the bike is brilliant very pleased with it, I had to wait approx. 3.5 months for delivery but worth the wait they were updating specs, the tyres for example upgraded, overall very pleased with the experience would recommend, performs well and looks really good too

A great machine that was well worth the (reasonable) price!

It took a while before my Gin e-bike arrived but it was worth the wait.
The assembly was pretty straight forward and I was soon venturing out on the road. It took a few trips in order to get used to the power and weight of the bike. After that it became a very enjoyable experience to use it.

Two thumbs up

Have left a previous review, however have been impressed by the follow up support by the company. A year later the bike is still working very well, keeps charge well. I have clocked up about 1500 miles, commuting 3-4 times a weekly. I changed the tires to some Shwalbe marathon plus after getting relatively frequent punctures and haven't had one for well over 6 months now. Rahul was kind enough to come out and help with a few set up queries I had and I got a follow up phone call a year later to check how things were with it. Very happy so far.

A solidly built great bike

This is a solidly built e-bike with a high specification. It’s a great bike for commuters and weekend riders.
I’m really happy with mine as it gets me out in the fresh air with no fear of steep climbs.
A great piece of kit.

The company is doing well for offering a quality product at an affordable price. It is one of the best things I have ever brought. It is great value for money. I have had no trouble with the bike. I tell everyone what a great bike it is and recommend gin x to all my friends and family.

Bought bike back in February 2023 took…

Bought bike back in February 2023 took a few months to arrive but communication was good during that process,rode bike throughout last summer and autumn (2023) with no issue,I did do some personal upgrades but that was my choice, this year again in February I shipped the bike to Barbados where it now resides and had many a good ride whilst there for three months earlier this year,I highly recommend this bike even more so as the bike has evolved since I bought mines with new upgrades and the option of a 500w motor which I would of bought had it been available at the time,lastly the bike is nimble which for me personally is a good thing and lightweight as well considering it's
an ebike.

I’m thrilled with my GIN X e-bike, despite the initial shipping delays. The bike arrived with all the accessories as promised, and it has exceeded my expectations. I’ve covered over 60 miles without a hitch, and the battery life comfortably supports over 50 miles even on steep inclines. The build quality and performance have impressed me, especially considering the price point. It’s clear that the GIN X is a solid investment, and I’m delighted to have proved the skeptics wrong. I have contacted my bank and they have confirmed NO REFUND WAS EVER INITIATED.

Just another LIE after A YEAR OF BULLSHIT

Ordered a bike in January, after waiting 3 months for the bike I gave up, and asked for a refund. It is now November and still no sign of my Money.

Their website says they pay refunds within 14 days, this is a lie and false advertising. I chased them after 14 days and had the following message

"We apologize for the delay in processing your refund. We want to assure you that the refund has been initiated, and we appreciate your patience in this matter. Typically, refunds can take a few business days to reflect back into your account.

Rest assured, we are actively working to expedite this process for you. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us."

That was back in May, I'm still waiting. Have contacted my Bank to try and get my Money back.

Gin X Sleek display model…

I purchased the Sleek display model which luckily was in stock in mid August. I collected the bike from their Reading depot. I have to say, apart from some display teething problems I absolutely love the bike. It's great to get out and about without worrying about hills which I used to with my normal bike. Assembly was pretty straightforward as most things are pre assembled. It's a very good allround bike, just some tweaks needed to display and for the
money it's probably as good as it gets
