The lights they were advertising for 22.99 on sale where very similar (if not the same) to ones sold by b&q and other retailers for 5.99. looks like a front to a scam type company. The website has spelling mistakes and looks dodgy. Avoid.
I found the Glowstead UK website very misleading. Despite the UK branding, I have since learned that the company is based in Sweden.
The website advertises “hassle-free 30-day returns”, but I was told that I would have to pay to return the lights to Sweden and that a refund could take up to 30 days after the items had been received and checked. The return postage would cost more than the lights are worth.
After several emails with customer service, I was initially offered a 25% discount to keep the lights and avoid the return costs. This was later increased to a final offer of 50%.
I have now referred the matter to my credit card issuer. Based on my experience, I would not recommend buying from this website.
Hidden behind a cute and perky website and a co.uk domain name is actually Swedish- registered company which ships direct from China. This means that all of your UK legal protections are neatly avoided by the company.
Their advertised '30 day return policy' actually entails sending the item tracked to Sweden, which would obviously cost more than the item is worth. This information is very well hidden on their website as they'd obviously make very few sales in the UK if people understood this.
I only discovered all this when I'd placed an order and received tracking information from China. When I emailed the company to cancel my order because I'd been deceived by their website, I received a very hearts and flowers email which nonetheless denied me any right to cancel. When I suggested that I'd try refuse delivery, they actually threatened me with additional additional charges for doing so. A company which has already obtained my money by deception is actually threatening to take some more money from me? Lovely people.
I've reported them to Shopify as fraudulent as well as the Advertising Standards Authority for their misleading ads. This is definitely a company to avoid.
Just as a tip before I finish, their products are generally available cheaper from Amazon.
