Ambience mirrors -disappointing with signs of silver disintegration

In 2017 when we were having our new bathrooms done, on the recommendation of a local dealer -we decided to invest in what we believed to be good quality bathroom mirrors .
We bought 2 Ambience 60 mirrors from them.

By July 2020, one of the mirrors was showing disintegration of the silver.There was recognition from the suppliers as well as the company of the fact that this was unacceptable standard particularly as we had taken every care in protecting the mirror; the local dealer managed to secure a replacement mirror for us.
The swift and helpful action taken both by HIB and the local dealer went someway towards restoring our faith in the company .

Alas, in 2024 the second mirror started showing signs of disintegration; this time it was outside the manufacturer's 5 year guarantee,

We have been careful with keeping humidity levels down and use the extractor fan as well as the light/heating on the mirror when we use the bathroom for a shower.
We have large windows in the bathroom which itself is a good size room, much bigger than an ordinary bathroom.
There is no evidence of any mould anywhere and a research project which we participated in not so long ago to assess the level of heat loss in the house showed that there were no issues with humidity.

A vanity mirror bought from John Lewis over 15 years ago , which is fitted adjacent o the HiB mirror shows no sign of silver disintegration

Under the circumstances this occurrence of the very unsightly disintegration of the silver in what is meant to be a quality product was very disappointing .

When customer services were contacted to request help with replacement, their response was :

Hi Yogini
Please accept my sincere apologies at your disappointment.

As stated in my original email our warranty covers the glass for 5 years, this mirror is outside of this warranty period and any replacements will be fully chargeable. I am sorry I cannot assist you further.
This exchange took place on the 21st of August 2024. I had meant to submit the review at the time but we had a lot of significant events and was unable to submit it then

I would steer well away from the company's products.Buy cheaper ones and replace them every few years or find a better quality product from another company

HIB CABINETS REVIEW

I had to contact HIB for information regarding sourcing a broken part for my bathroom cabinet. The response from Sarah was very swift and she has provided me with the details I need to order parts I need . A pleasure dealing with HIB and Sarah

Had a shelf support break on my HIB…

Had a shelf support break on my HIB bathroom cabinet. Messaged support and the response was extremely fast and once I had provided proof of purchase they sent new brackets. Special mention to Sarah Griffin.

HiB go above and beyond in customer service

Our client was very let-down by a dodgy retailer who supplied a cabinet with missing shelves. HiB have gone above and beyond to supply replacement shelves and were hugely helpful in doing so. The cabinet is lovely too!

I had a problem with the light on my…

I had a problem with the light on my cabinet.
I contacted HIB customer services and spoke to Sarah.
With an hour I had been given all the details I needed to sort the problem out and a list of local fitters should I decide not to do the repair myself.
Absolutely 1st class customer service.

Quick professional service!

Had a chat with Sarah today. She was extremely helpful and quick to answer my request for technical drawings on a product I am purchasing from HIB. I have never had such a great experience on a chat with any company ever! Thanks very much Sarah!

Poor customer service experience.

A local contractor recently completed a high-quality bathroom installation, including an expensive bathroom cabinet with integrated LED lighting. However, less than twelve months later, the LED illumination failed. Under warranty, we contacted the contractor, who subsequently engaged the supplier and ultimately, HiB, the manufacturer.

After a four-week delay and persistent follow-up, the resolution involves shipping a replacement component to the contractor's merchant for installation by our contractor. Since our contractor lacks electrical qualifications, this necessitates additional expense for professional installation of the transformer.

We question the manufacturer's decision to not ship a complete replacement unit for direct installation, followed by return of the defective unit.

The lack of timely resolution, exceeding one month, is unsatisfactory and reflects poorly on the manufacturer's customer service.

Great Customer Service…

I had an electrical problem with an illuminated/heated bathroom mirror.
I Initially made contact by phone, and followed up with an email.
Received a really quick response from Sarah, and the issue was resolved without any dramas.
Customer service done the way it should be - thank you.

Amazing service from Sarah at HIB

Amazing service from Sarah at HIB.
Our builder tried to move the shelf supports up/down & removed it whole support.
Sarah advised that it was probably due to the backing falling & offered to send new support without hesitation. Am so grateful as it was not HIB fault but Sarah took the onus of the issue & resolved it immediately. Thank you

Quality of service is reflected when…

Quality of service is reflected when things go wrong.We had a bathroom cabinet fitted which had a fault.This was brought to the attention of Sarah.The very next day a replacement arrived at our door.Excellent response to this is issue.
