I appreciated the promptness of service and delivery, but must admit if my first choice of company (which I've used in the past) had had stock in would have gone there as Hickman was much more expensive.

Regarding the pricing, we’d like to clarify that the cost of this item is dictated by the supplier, who has recently adjusted their pricing structure due to plans of discontinuing the supply of metal Ternes Burton pins. As a small company, we don’t have the capacity to buy these items in large batches, so occasional price fluctuations do occur when our suppliers change prices. Over time, you may notice your usual supplier’s prices changing as well due to this shift in supply.
We’d like to highlight that we received no prior communication from you regarding any concerns about the pricing before you completed your purchase. The item was clearly listed at its advertised price, and by proceeding with the purchase, we trust it reflected your understanding of the value we aim to provide. As an independent business, we work hard to keep our prices competitive, but we are unable to match the bulk purchasing power of larger companies.
While we always welcome fair and constructive feedback, we feel this review does not fully reflect the quality of service we strive to deliver. If the pricing did not meet your expectations, we respect that you had the option to explore alternative suppliers. Delivery was good.
Parcel came quite quickly but I didn't have a confirmation email after ordering or a tracking number for 4 days even though I paid extra for 48 hour royal mail delivery. So I was worried in case it was a scam website. It is for a Christmas present so haven't opened it but it's much smaller than I thought it would be for £100.

We strive to ensure every customer receives a smooth and reassuring experience from start to finish. In this case, I can see why the absence of a confirmation email and tracking number would be concerning. These are normally sent for all orders, so I recommend checking your spam or junk folder, as sometimes emails can end up there unexpectedly.
As we're approaching Christmas, Royal Mail is experiencing higher demand, which unfortunately can result in delays beyond our control. I completely understand how this might have led to concerns, but rest assured, we’re a legitimate business and very much dedicated to customer satisfaction. If you had reached out via email, we would have responded promptly to reassure you and address any issues. I take pride in going the extra mile for our customers when I’m aware of any concerns, and I think this commitment is reflected in many of our other reviews.
Regarding the price and size of the kit, I understand it may not have been what you initially expected. You ordered a premium Japanese woodblock printing kit, which features higher quality tools and materials that differentiate it from our standard kits. These differences are highlighted on the product page, but I appreciate that this information may not have been immediately clear. If you had contacted us, we’d have been more than happy to explain the unique features of this premium kit and why it is priced as it is.
To address the delivery issue, I’d like to offer you a refund for the extra 48-hour delivery fee as a gesture of goodwill. Please reach out to us directly on luke@hickmandesign.co.uk and we’ll be happy to arrange that for you.

Outstanding customer service!
I found the Hickman Design website when looking for specific stationery that was out of stock in other (large) online art shops. Luke informed me almost immediately that they also didn’t have it in stock but that he would do his best to source it from his suppliers. He managed to do this within a couple of days and, keeping me informed throughout, my order was quickly despatched. Just fantastic customer service from beginning to end and I wouldn’t hesitate to shop with them again. Highly recommended!
